Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course

About
The Bear Course is one of two courses at the Bear Creek Golf Complex; it is a championship-length course while the other, the Cub Course, is an executive length course. The Bear Course is an inland, links-style course with rolling fairways and well-manicured greens. Strategically placed bunkers situated throughout the course add some challenge to the course. A round of golf on this course can be played in less than four hours. The Bear Creek Golf Complex, in addition to the two courses, also offers a full grass driving range, two putting greens, and a short game area with a bunker.

disappointed
I got a t-time through Golfnow. It was originally for a twosome. I added a 3rd player on the Golfnow site. When we were checking in, the person at the front desk said the 3rd player could not play. we had a confirmation from GN. Bear Creek staff blamed GN and would take no action or responsibility. They also said they were too busy to make an exception. However, when we went to play the back nine, they had let a twosome get in front of us. Unacceptable.
Enjoyable Round
Second time playing Bear Creek and I would play it again. Course in good shape and pace of play was perfect. The desert areas are playable and rarely lose a ball in the desert. Highly recommend.
Greens were great!
Wasn't sure what to expect. Greens were actually great! Fairways good. The rough is difficult to hit out of. It's basically unwatered long grass that is sometimes fluffy and sometimes hard. Course was a little wet is sections and the bunkers have real thin sand. Overall a great day and price was fair. The range balls are overpriced is only complaint.
Son's Birthday Round
Perfect golf weather. Course was in great shape. Been playing here for years and these were the fastest greens I have ever seen here.
Only downer, was the cart for the other two in our group died on the 18th tee.
Course is in great shape
Course is in great shape. Played at 2pm. Finished in 3:15. I wish they would chase off the waterfowl. The pond on 18 smells really bad and your shoes and push cart are full poop after the hole.
Nice course, good shape \
I like the layout. The price is great thru GolfPass.
No Houses, No Problem…Except for Bob’s Slicer
Played this course for the first time, and wow, what a breath of fresh air! The conditions were pristine—fairways smoother than my backswing (not saying much) and greens rolling truer than my excuses for missing putts. It was a bit crowded, but that’s just peak golf season, so no biggie. The pace was solid, and I only had time to check my phone once—a new personal record!
Now, the real highlight: playing a course where hitting a house wasn’t even on the radar. My golf balls finally got to live their best lives, free from crashing into windows or ricocheting off gutters. But just when I thought I’d escaped danger, I realized the real hazard: other golfers' stray shots. Bob from two fairways over apparently thought I was the flagstick. Stay sharp out there, folks—it’s a jungle of errant wedges!
All jokes aside, it’s a fantastic course, and I’ll 100% be back. Just maybe next time with a helmet… and a flare gun for Bob. Highly recommend!
Too many unfixed ball marks on greens, and music from other carts
Solid Track, Price is too high
This is a good course. But they price the course based on the area. Almost $120 for a round of golf is a little steep. You can get the same value elsewhere for around $85 this time of year. Good pace, 3:30 for a 18 hole foursome. Tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, rough was good. Most of the length is built into the par 3’s and a few longer 4’s.
Better than it used to be
I quit playing here years ago when it went down hill. Saw recent reviews said it was in good shape. They were correct, fairways and greens in good shape. We were the first group out on Saturday morning. I got worried when we heard the men's club was going to start about the same time with a shotgun start. But we played in 3 hours, which is great for weekend golf in Az. A few things they still need to corrdct are: 1) open the pro shop at least 30 minutes before the first tee time so people have a chance to warm up. 2) And put some darn water on the course!! 3) Staff in pro shop need some customer service training. If you are not a member you are treated like an alien. As far as the course...some big greens. Blue tees are about 6400 yds. There are a couple of long 3's and 4's and a couple 5's that are not reachable in 2, even for long hitters so it feels longer at times, but there are a few short holes to make up for it. A few fairways rolls off on the edges so if you are on the wrong side, it might not stay in the fairway. After you play it a few times, you learn which side to favor. Good warm up area, chipping and putting areas are good size (if the pro shop will allow sell you balls before sunrise!) Fair value for this time of year when everybody jacks up the prices because of the snow birds
Good course
Great course for the price
Enjoy the driving range off grass to the well kept greens and fairways
Tee boxes need a little TLC
Only issue were the carts were not cleaned - muddy and dirty windshields
Great course
The course in great shape, we played under 3.5 hours, wide fairway. The greens were good.
Decent track
Every course in AZ is overpriced this time of year. $110 for 18 holes with a cart here is a bit much. Most places, this would be about a $50 -$60 course.
That being said- it was in good shape. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all nice and green and well kept. The greens were in good shape and rolled pretty true.
I’ll definitely come back.
