Located in the West Valley, the championship-length course at the Coldwater Golf Club boasts several different challenges for an interesting round of golf. There are elevated tees as well as several dry washes. There are two lakes providing water hazards on the golf course as well. There are also dramatic elevation changes caused by the mountainous terrain. Aside from the challenging game, the course also offers beautiful mountain vistas. The course has not only one signature course but two. The first is the modest eighth hole. Although it is short at 100 yards, it features an elevated tee and a triple-tiered green. Coldwater Golf Club also finishes with a signature hole. The beginning tee shot plays to an open fairway over water with a dry wash to the left, while the approach shot is closed-in by another wash to the left and a lake to the right.

tees needed mowing but the greens were in good shape. The same is true for most of the fairways for the summertime in Arizona.

Terrible No starter

Started at 8 am, at 10 I was starting the 6 hole. At one point there were 5 groups on one hole. The Marshal tried to speed it up, but it was too late, I gave up on the 7th hole. Should get my money back.

Not enjoyable anymore.

Just got done playing here and it’s usually just OK. But today I was completely turned off on the idea of coming back here. the place alone the last several times this last year has gotten progressively worse. Today there seemed to be divots on some greens from people chipping. There’s a fairway on the back 9 that runs along the train tracks… its been almost unplayable the last 3 times I’ve gone. Tee boxes are in terrible shape. My partner and I were making the turn and the sprinklers were on. we called to ask if they could turn the sprinklers off on. They told me they couldn’t but they’ll ask the maintenance guys. (So you can or can’t?). If you don’t want people playing to re condition and water the course don’t schedule tee times that soon. They also told me they’re not sure how many of the holes on the course will be like that today. (So why did I pay 40 dollars if I wasn’t going to be able to play all 18?)

The cart was beat up. I got swarmed by ants on the floorboard of it and the undercarriage of the cart was dragging along the whole time we played. So someone beat the cart up pretty good and it must’ve not been unkept well before use. This round should’ve been around 20-28 dollars to have played today considering how poor the course has been unkept.

Terrible conditions.

Probably one of the worst courses I’ve played in a long while.

Tee boxes are jacked up , you get punished for landing on the fairways , green are the only decent thing and that’s not saying much.

Would not recommended play somewhere else !

Bad experience

Walked off after 12 holes at the 4 hour mark. Course was extremely over watered. Every shot yielded a mud ball. Used to play this course often, won’t be back.

Worst course ever

Only saving grace for this place is that the staff are all really nice. When it comes to the course though, only consistent thing about this course is crab grass, mud, and gopher holes. Oddly enough, the greens were in great condition but that means Jack when the course looks like it was a war zone. Wouldn’t even recommend this place to my worst enemy, which is a shame cause the staff is really nice and the course has a great layout if it was actually taken care of. Avoid unless a major renovation occurs.

What's happening

Don't know what's happening here. The course is in horrible shape. Fairways have a lot of dead spots. Tee boxes and areas around the greens are overgrown. Greens are okay. Pace of play is good only because of low bookings. I see why. Course was showing a lot of improvement. But this is a major relapse. Hoping ownership is aware. Will be playing elsewhere for now.

Terrible Course

Everything about this course was terrible

Tee boxes, fairways, greens, trash all over the course, golf carts were dirty and had trash in them. I legit can’t think of one good thing to say. Stay far far away from this course. It’s a robbery for $40.

This place supposedly had new management but that obviously wasn’t the case. I wish I could give it zero stars

Better than expected!

Had a great day at Coldwater. Teed off at 5:36 am and enjoyed an open course. The sprinklers got in the way a few times and the fairways were quite soggy on some holes, but I just moved my ball to a better lie and we were good.

The greens were actually in exceptional shape. Rolled true, flat, and very consistent. I was very impressed.

I never expect an amazing course when I come here so we can’t be too hard on the course. For the price and for the good shape of the greens, I’d say this was an excellent day and a great course.

Nice greens

My first time playing here and early morning tee time allowed me a fairly quick round playing alone. The best feature of this course are the greens which are in excellent condition. Sand traps could use some tlc as well as the tee boxes, but they aren't unplayable, and they are set up with great line of sight to the fairways and flag.

If you keep your shots straight, or close enough, the fairways are in good playing condition. But if you hit off line you're gonna be in some unfriendly areas. Overall, the price is right and being a 20 handicap, I enjoyed the course and will try to go out there again soon.

Sunday Morning Swing Fest – 6am Edition

Just four brave souls chasing birdies before sunrise – what could go wrong? We teed off at the ungodly hour of 6am (coffee still kicking in around hole 4), but check-in was a breeze. Quick transaction, carts loaded, and we were off like pros… who hadn’t practiced.

The weather? Surprisingly pleasant. Compared to the swampy sauna from a few weeks ago, this was practically paradise. A few muddy spots tried to sabotage us, but nothing serious enough to require lifeguards or ball relocation.

As expected, the front 9 was a warm-up (that’s our story and we’re sticking to it). Swings were rusty, fairways elusive, and the golf gods were clearly still asleep. But shoutout to the group behind us for their patience – either they didn’t mind the struggle, or they were just enjoying the show.

The back 9? That’s when we remembered how to golf. Clubs connected, putts dropped, confidence bloomed. It was a classic glow-up moment for all of us.

Course was in decent shape, pace was solid, and the early start meant we were done in time for second breakfast. We’ll definitely be booking here again – just maybe with a little warm-up next time. Or not. Where’s the fun in that?

Poor conditions

Coldwater is a disaster. The rough is very rough rocks in the bunkers, trash, dead birds. Gopher or ground squirrels holes everywhere so watch your ankles.

The greens were the best condition but furry and slow. The pace of play was ok cause there is no one out there. Range balls were chewed up and damaged. I have coming out 1-2 time per year cause it's cheap and not a horrible layout. I won't be back! Hope they can get the course back to a reputable municipal.

Great track for the money

I thought this was a really decent course. You can tell that they are battling some thin spot and those little pocket gopher, but it looks like they're making good headway. The greens are in great condition. A little shaggy but part of the regrowing process, I think. 15 out of 18 tee boxes are flat and in decent shape. The driving range was closed when I played which was a little disappointing, but not that big of a deal. I teed off at 6:30am. Finally caught up with the old man 4some on hole 6and they finally let me play through on #8 when I basically got out of the cart and walked onto the tee box while they're 3rd was still teeing off. Then I caught the group in front of them on #10 and, through the same process they begrudgingly let me play through on #12. Never saw another soul for the rest of the round.

I think this course is going to be a hidden gem real soon. Ground crew deserves a pat on the back.
