Located in the West Valley, the championship-length course at the Coldwater Golf Club boasts several different challenges for an interesting round of golf. There are elevated tees as well as several dry washes. There are two lakes providing water hazards on the golf course as well. There are also dramatic elevation changes caused by the mountainous terrain. Aside from the challenging game, the course also offers beautiful mountain vistas. The course has not only one signature course but two. The first is the modest eighth hole. Although it is short at 100 yards, it features an elevated tee and a triple-tiered green. Coldwater Golf Club also finishes with a signature hole. The beginning tee shot plays to an open fairway over water with a dry wash to the left, while the approach shot is closed-in by another wash to the left and a lake to the right.

Less than I expected

For a course that was finished with overseeding I didn't see any improvement. Plus with a 90 degree rule I saw no reason for it. The fairways were like pasture grass and hadn't been mowed or manicured. The greens were slow and not in very good condition. This course seems to always struggle with the course condition and is like any muni course with poor management.

Still needs a lot of work

At $50 for a mid day Friday afternoon round, this is not the place to play. At all. I would not play here unless I lived in the neighborhood, and it was <$20.

Pulling in, it was a ghost town. No one at bag drop, no one by the carts. I went inside, no one inside - at the bar, or pro shop. I stood at the pro shop register and eventually heard voices, made eye contact with someone in the office. They eventually finished their conversation and came out to check me in. There goes my range/warm up time... He was pleasant, and told me instructions. The ranger was a nice guy, but gave no info on the course (or explanation for the conditions...), and that was the last I saw him, unfortunately. Pace of play was an issue - the foursome in front of us, with no one holding them up, wouldn't let a twosome pass. From. Hole. 1. So naturally, the round was a slog that took atleast an hour longer than it needed to. The bev girl was very nice, but after running into her on like hole 2/3 she said she had to go for the day, so it was last call. Def could have used drinks later in the round.

The course conditions are awful. Fairways are very dead, some of the most unlevel tee boxes I've ever seen, poorly cut cups, unhealthy greens, zero desert landscaping. Very basic layout. Atleast it wasn't cart path only, but that leads me to believe they're either very behind getting winter grass established, or they're just running with the summer grass all year. There's a reason the better courses don't do this, and have already gotten their winter grass going. I read reviews saying it's made improvements, so I took a shot. If these are the improvements I can't bring myself to imagine what this place was like before. A dirt lot?

The staff were all very nice, but did not provide ideal service. The course is a terrible value. Go play The Duke for the same price (CPO until early nov, but looking nice), or pay a bit more for Verrado (CPO, but looking beautiful!) or Estrella(haven't played in a month or so, but at its summer worst was a blast to play). Or save your money and play a muni to experience Cold Water conditions.

Okay Course – Awesome Staff

I've read a lot of reviews about how Coldwater used to be. This was my first time playing, so I don't have anything to compare it to. It's a fairly easy course with wide fairways. The conditions reminded me of a city course - gas-powered carts, grass in the fairway, but hard-pan dirt every place else. So, if you are able to hit the ball down the middle, you won't have any problems. Greens were VERY slow, but the course just came out of overseed, so that was to be expected. Overall, it was an okay course - staff is amazingly friendly, so that helped!

Improved

Coldwater is improving nicely. The greens were in poor condition 6 months ago and I would say now that they are good.

It's an excellent value.

Coldwater Golf Club

This was my first time playing here. It’s a very nice par 72 course, some of the holes have a narrow fairway which made things a bit more challenging. Overall a fun course that makes you use a good majority of your clubs!

They had a tourney early Saturday morning which made for a 5 hour round. Practice range was all dirt with horrible range balls. Just came out of overseed so I'll give that to them but it was not good. We had 4 groups waiting on the first tee and it didn't get any better throughout the round.

Much Improved

Last year the course descended into the pits. But now, the overseed has revealed a much improved course. The fairways are growing in nicely and the greens will be cut shorter (according to the staff) once the new grass has taken hold in another week or two.

All in all, a significant improvement and a resurrection of the course from C- list to A list.
