Great course, No crowd
I went on a Sunday in July as a single. They paired me up with another single and we played the round in less than 3 hours and we did not rush. We only saw the group in front of us on the par 3's and that was watching them leave in their cart as we pulled up to the tee.
Not your average San Diego Golf course.
I enjoy playing here because it is not an average San Diego golf course. You can get into trouble if you do not hit good tee shots and think about all your shots. It is one of the closest things to a links course San Diego has. Very nice staff. I will be back.
salt creek
great experience! love salt creek...always challenging but fair. all the holes are different
Links course
A lot of improvements are/have gone into this course since I played last. Greens are always tough, several tiered, recently sanded but surprisingly fast.
Played it again!
Enjoyed the track so much, I played it twice in one week! The course was packed Saturday but moved along pretty well. Considering how many people were on it, it was in good shape. Their GPS is new and my cart's device did not work, but it didn't seem to cause us any problems. We'll be back to see the results of their upgrading.
Played it twice!
The starter had warned us there was a Ladies league in front and to plan for a "relaxed" round...so we did, and we both had our best rounds ever! We collected a couple of single players through the round, played some great golf and had blast. Things moved along reasonably, staff were super and Jodie even delivered our lunch order to us! Apparently the course is under new ownership and it's nice to see upgrades going on.
Great bang for your buck
I've grown to really like Salt Creek. It's not a particularly difficult or long course but it presents it's share of challenges. And other then the 6th and 10th holes, which are all carry off the tee, my wife who is a high handicapper (really high) can play it reasonably well. The clubhouse is under-going upgrading and, although the fringe on some greens and the rough a little further out could use a little thickness, the course is in reasonably good shape and is a real bargain in my book.
Beautiful,nature all round,long,fun holes.
Enjoyed visiting this course three times in the last few weeks and enjoyed each round very much. Interesting course design that challenged my game. I thought course was in good shape overall and the greens were all well kept. I look forward to playing many rounds at Salt Creek!
Fun course great price
This is the 2nd time I played salt creek. I paid $30 for a 345 tee time. The course wasn't crowded so they let me and my buddy go out by ourselves and early. Played it in about 3 3/4 hours and had a blast. Long from the back tees, fast and undulating greens and lots of bunkers.
Nice greens,hard fairways,water issues.
This has always been one of my favorites for the links layout, but man, what happened? Watering is a problem. Fairways are rock hard and with the exception of the greens, brown is the color for the day. Some tee boxes have been abandoned. I'm guessing because of water issues. The greens are nice and they seem to be committed to keeping them that way. The proshop is being upgraded but doesn't effect play. Might be time to transition to a fairway grass that thrives in heat with no water.. Good hotdog at the snackbar.
The course and especially the greens were in immaculate shape.
The pace was a little slow, but when you are with friends, time isn't an issue. The course was magnificent and quite challenging but the greens were awesome (well manicured). When the sun came out the greens got even better.
Target golf on some of the holes
This isn't the longest course, even from the tips. But it takes some planning on many of your shots, navigating obstacles, etc. The condition was great, the greens were great. The pace of play was good. We had a foursome in front of our twosome and they let us play through at the turn. We didn't catch up to another group for 6 holes. We teed off on a Friday at 8.
open fairways that go uphills, downhills, blind tee shot from hole #14
one of my new favorite courses with its open fairways that go uphills and downhills, some water holes with a scenic views, some holes yardage depends on the wind direction, choose the right club on those holes.challenging course, will be back here soon.
A good experience.
We had a good day of golf. Course in good condition....I had played before and it was not good. This day was much better.
This course is in terrible shape
I have played this course several times in the last few years and I find it in the worst condition ever. Many of the back tees and a few middle tees have not been watered and the grass is dead. Many of the fairways have not been watered and are also dead and bare down to the dirt. The environmental sensitive areas have the red stakes with green tops replaced with just red stakes and the areas have been trampled on and played in. One of the lakes is bone dry and another one is stagnant. It is sad to see such a great course get to this level of poor condition.
Great course, but hard greens.
Great pace of play and course layout! The greens were hard and could use some water.
Course in good shape, greens very quick.
Enjoyed the round, great practice facilities. Course is in good shape, a great value for the money!
Glad to hear you had a great time. Hope to see you out here again!
Beautifulll Scenary
Just a very nice course, start early and it is not to hot.
course was good...greens were recently punched
this is an interesting course....our rate was $31 on golf now...
thus ....the course was worth it...the greens were punched and only in fair condition...this course is challenging for the 15-18 handicapper from the silver tees...do not play the back tees
if your skill level does not warrant it...it is difficult enough
from the silver tees...try to keep your ball in play...there are many strategically placed traps on this course and you are sure to find many during your round...this is a links type course with many blind shots...you will be better the second time you play it...
Mr. Scarp,
I can understand your argument that tee boxes and start of fairways have not been watered it seems you were not notified that last August we started a water conservation plan. Basically we are saving water from areas like you mentioned: shutdown tee boxes, the start of fairways and all areas that are out of play. Our goal is to keep all in play areas in great condition for golf. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention as we will make sure signage stating our water conservation project is seen throughout the course. I hope to see you here at Salt Creek again.
