Must play!
Great value. One of the best maintained in San Diego. Must keep the ball in the fairway.
this course is so nice and in such great shape, we could not believe why they were getting so little play
on a 1 to 10 this course is a solid 8 or 9. The course is in great shape and is a challenge to most all players
Played on a rainy day, course held up really well. Fantastic value, excellent customer service.
Despite some heavy rainfall the night before and the morning of our round, the course held up well. The course is challenging but fair, with no "gimmicky" holes. We played here for a Golfnow "hot fare" and was an outstanding value. Even at the regular green fee, the course is a great value for the quality of the golf. I can't wait to return.
Great Greens very tight course
The Greens are always the best part of this golf course, but the rest of the course looked beat. I understand its the dormant season but it looks as if there is a lack of funds
Fast fairways and faster greens!
The appeal of this rare link style course in San Diego happens to be its curse as well. Super firm fairways with natural slopes can turn straight drives into unplayable lies and lost balls. It takes a few rounds to learn the tricks of the course. Lately, it's far more treacherous and more risk than reward. Overall, it's an amazing course with recent improvements in management and course conditions. Still too many large rocks in the bunkers. I know, I was in the sand all day.
fast greens and nice sand
the course is kept in very good shape . not. over booked looks like its going to be in great shape this summer
The course is very fun and has many challenging holes.
The new ownership has put a lot of time and money into this course and it shows. The greens are in great shape (super fast), also the bunkers have plenty of sand. The course has many difficult holes, but is very fair if you hit good golf shots.
Course was in good condition and was a challenging but fair links type course
Course was in good condition but most tee boxes lacked a ball washer. Greens were fast and tough to read. Signage on the tee boxes helped me determine target area and were especially helpful on blind tee shots
First time playing the black tees and it proved challenging.
Nice hard fairways provide enough roll that black tees were the ideal tee box. The fairway bunkers could use some sand and #10 green was unfair where pin was. If putt missed ball would come back or if long might go in the back of hole. We were paired with 2 guys who were a pleasure to to spend a cool day on the course.
Very challenging... beautiful, fast greens.
The course was very challenging. It has beautiful, fast greens that hold a well struck shot. The fairways are wide and also cut thin and when you hit them you will get tons of roll. Overall I loved the course and will most definately return.
challenging
great target golf, fast as lightening greens it's one of my favorite because of the fast play. Usually between 3.5 and 4 hours
Fun course.
Fun layout with a lot of open space that can be deceiving on some holes due to the elevation changes and slopes. It is right at the base of San Miguel Mountain so it is usually very dry and the ball with roll quite a bit on the fairways although the greens hold the ball well.
A fun modern design.
A really fun lay-out but wish they'd firm up the greens so they weren't so bumping.
Interesting and challenging layout with good elevation changes.
It is obvious new owners have been dedicating dollars to improve the experience of golfers. Greens and fairways are in some of the best shape since its opening.
The course user friendly offering multiple tee options for all levels.
This was my first time playing the course. I was greeted by the staff at check in and felt very welcomed. The course is pretty wide open from tee to green with the exception of a few holes. I'm not a fan of blind tee shots with unforseen trouble. This course has a couple of them. Other than that, I would definately recommend this course.
Fun Course
The only issue on the day was the fairways were like hitting off concrete. Otherwise, a good layout and relatively forgiving for the average golfer
Course is in Excellent Condition.
I played this course over the Thanksgiving weekend and have to say that this course was in as good of condition of any course that I've place I've played since Torrey after the Farmers. The greens were in great condition. They've done a great job on their repairs. Some of the fairway conditions are still very hard and dry, but as a whole the fairways are in much better condition then when I played here 9 months ago. Anyone who's played this track knows that some of the fairways are hard as a rock but 3/4 of the fairways were in great shape. The back tee's on 9 are still obviously being worked on, or under repair but as a whole this course is very well worth the 55$ Saturday morning round. Great value for your dollar right now.
I Will Play It Again
Salt Creek recently went through a change of ownership and they have been working on the course and it's amenities. The prices were a bit higher than normal because it was Black Friday. The staff is friendly and with time I am certain this course will come into its own. I've played it three times and while I am a novice golfer, I will be sure to play it again. The greens have a lot of play and the course is challenging. The only bummer is that aside from the clubhouse restrooms, there is only one set of restrooms during the course of play so sometimes you may have to venture into the wild to find comfort. Overall worth the money.
Good
Play was to slow, they need a Marshall to speed up things.
Beautiful Place.
good value compared to price
Overall was very good at golf outing but the maintanence of the course is not perfect.
