Great value for the money
First tee time of the day, greens punched a week ago, still a little rough but a very fun course. Great views and long rolling fairways. I will play there again. They could use some signs pointing out the clubhouse under renovation though.
Excellent...great vistas...fun shot-making! Great value!
The greens had been aerated which was the only detraction, however, they charged accordingly. The rest of the course more than made up for this condition. What an excellent course and great views of the east side of South Bay, San Diego.
An enjoyable challenge!
For the arid location, course is well maintained. Expansive views and fairways. Started at 7:50 and finished 18th hole by 11:45!
Play golf in a great locale as close to nature as you can get in San Diego County! Certainly the most challenging course south of I-8!
Early time time a must; avoid the crushing hot late morning /afternoon sun.
Super
Great course. Great views. Loved the course even though the greens were just punched, and I hate playing when the greens are punched!!! I would put it up against most of the N. San Diego courses and it was less expensive. Very quite, peaceful and secluded. I will return.
Nice greens! Challenging course
The course was in great shape. All the bunkers had soft fluffy sand except a few that were a little wet, but not muddy by any means. The fairways looked good, but not perfect. The practice facilities there are top notch, one of the better practice areas I think. The carts were adequate, but GPS would of been nice. The course is not well marked. The flags also were not always apparent to what part of the green they were on.
Greens in good condition but course is in desperate need of proper watering
I think when playing golf you get what you pay for and the rate at $33 was certainly reasonable. The greens were in great condition and are very fast and challenging. However, the course outside the fairway and greens was in some disrepair and it was clear the course wasnt getting enough water (Hard if your only charging $33 per golfer). The loop was quick and we barely ran into other people.
not the normal experience at this course
Enjoy playing here, so was very happy to find a great deal on GolfNow. Booked for 1:03 on a Sunday. Showed up at course at 12:30, told at ProShop that we were at 1:39 instead. Staff was not willing to accommodate my clear email message from GolfNow that indicated a tee time of 1:03. Regardless, paid for range balls, and had some refreshments. It appeared that a small tournament was sent off before us. Teed off a little before 2, waited for every shot we took on the course thereafter. Finished after 6:30. Will come back, but hopefully will experience better pace of play and recognition of paid-for-in-advance tee time.
New owners have made noticeable improvements.
Course is in much better shape compared to the last time we visited. Pace of play has never been a concern at this course. Restrooms are very rare on this course, which posed a problem for one of our group on this visit. Overall, though, much better than the times we have visited in the past. We'll be back!
wide open fast greens
condition of course good wide open fairways wind can be a problem at times. sloping greens.
very nice links style course lots o fun
well maintained course, fun and difficult at the same time links style with great views. the staff is nice and very knowledgeable of the layout. Only down side... bring own GPS
Love this course!
Links style course, not many trees, but not too many bunkers either. No houses around, and several amazing views of Chula Vista all the way to the big bay. I usually score my average or better here. Greens are really fast right now, and had some challenging hole locations this weekend.
Great scenic course w/some fast greens
The perfect combination between Barona & Tecolote, this course offers rolling fairways w/difficult greens. Accurate fairway shots on all par 5's can guarantee putting for eagle b/c of the short yardage. A couple holes' greens were like putting on a pool table but were @ least readable. Overall, great course for which to I will be returning to better my putting skills.
Visually exciting course
This course is visually great. Great elevation changes and lots of fun. Probably not a course for beginners but it is a delightful layout. Highly recommend this course and would definitely play it again the next time i am in San Diego. The staff were super friendly and courteous.
Great price, very scenic and lots of challenge but playable for golfers of all levels
Great price, very scenic and lots of challenge but playable for golfers of all levels
Glad to see they have improved the improved bunkers. Greens were fabulous.
Kudos to the new owners for making strides to improve the course. Already one of my favorites in San Diego
Great Golf Experience
Played golf at Salt Creek on our visit to San Diego last week. Very friendly staff, course was in great shape, greens were smooth and very fast, and the fairways were really rolling and giving us "bonus yards". The setting was great with lots of natural beauty. Tee boxes for all levels of golfers. I visit San Diego every year and will definately replay Salt Creek.
Fast but fair greens
I enjoyed the course. It was in great shape. The greens were fast but fair and really forced you to focus on your speed. Pace of play was a little slow. New tee box locations ( played gold) on a few holes since I last played made for a fresh experience.
Good value play on "Hot Deal"
Links style course with elevation changes, plenty of sand, undulating fairways, and fast greens. A few of the greens can be very deceptive and challenging! Three holes have blind tee shots and driver is too much on two of them. Booked a Hot Deal as a single - a very good value! Although the course was wide open the staff asked me to wait until confirmed tee time and to play with other Golf Now customers. This is consistent with stated terms - just felt that the staff could have made my off course experience better.
Great value
I'm giving this course 4 stars because I love the layout. New owners are spending money and you can already see results but the course is not yet in 4 star condition. The biggest improvement is in the bunkers. They have gone from the consistency of dried concrete to sand that is so plentiful and soft that I had several fried egg lies. Also, the greens are in great shape. The downside is the thin, fast fairways. Nice if you hit the middle but potentially big trouble if you don't.
