The course is beautiful, loaded with scenere.
The course has one of the best layouts around. The views are wonderful, and the price you can't beat. most the holes play from green to tee, but their are a few you can bomb it on. I love the fact that their are no houses on the course.
this coarse plays like a links coarse
I've played this coarse twice this week. I have played a lot of coarses in the south bay area but I have to say this one of the most challenging and fun coarse out of all of them.
Nice layout, poorly maintained
Nice layout/course design and some good elevation changes in a very pretty setting. But needs maintenance (granted it's nearly winter time) and the surrounding areas have some eye sores like a concrete reservoir and a few areas under construction.
If you can play for 25 or under it makes it worth it.
Fairways are way to hard
I enjoyed the course layout and scenery. The fairways are like concrete which I thought made the course very unrealistic. It was also very hard to take a divot as the club just bounces off the turf.
Great shape
New management has done a great job getting course back to great playing condition. One of my favorite golf course in S.D.
Lots of potential but very hard texture.
Bunkers sand way to hard. To dry in most areas and no fairway fringe. More shade would be nice.
Not for new golfers
Challenging course. Terrific practice facilities with adequate snack bar and friendly staff. Difficult semi-links style course with improving course condition. Conservative play is rewarded with par and occasional birdie opportunity. Quiet but for constant overhead jets approaching San Diego airport (course lies in landing pattern of Lindbergh Field). Precise shot making a must.
it has challenging holes
It is a "hidden gem" that lot of players are not aware ,as I say it has a beautiful view and very challenging holes.
Even have cold water in coolers on the course
Fun course, great value, not really 'links' golf.
I've played Salt Creek numerous times of the past few years and always enjoy a round there. The course is fun with quite a bit of variety in the holes and it's possible to shoot a good score if you keep the ball in play. Greens are generally decently quick and in good condition, pace of play is fast, staff friendly and the practice facilities are good. It was originally opened as the Auld Course and advertised as links golf, but I don't think it's truly links golf, ala Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes...
This course is awful !
I can't believe that Golf Digest give to this course 4 1/2 stars. The conditions were very bad. Some bunkers haven't sand. The fairways were not in good condition. This course was very disappointing and the pace of play was very slow. Don't go there, you will regret it.
the layout is good
We did not expect to be putting on aerated greens. If there are adverse conditions at the course,it should be noted for everyone to weigh before booking a tee time. I don't suppose there are reasons for a refund besides the course being closed??? a reply to the above would be nice.
Fun course
Always enjoy playing Salt Creek..they could spread out the start times just slightly to give each group a bit more room (not a lot of fun to wait, wait and then rush, rush).
Better than last time
Last time we played here, last Nov, we were extremely excited to play only to be absolutely disappointed by the course conditions and upkeep. Grass was brown and greens were being repaired. Never even noticed people working on the grounds. Vowed to never play again due to the disappointment we experienced and the expensive price. Thought we'd give it one more shot after finding a great deal and it was a complete 180! Grass was green, greens were perfect, and people were working nonstop on the upkeep. Night and day. Will give it a best 2 out of 3 and go another time. Hopefully we experience a similar experience.
