Uphall Golf Club
About
Uphall Golf Club began in 1895, when the golf course was erected on terrain leased from Sheriff Shairp, who lived on the neighboring Houston Estate. It's a convenient golf course to reach, sitting just seven miles west of the Edinburgh Airport, outside of Uphall Village. It is an 18-hole parkland course set amidst mature trees and features relatively flat land within somewhat tight boundaries, making for a test for all golfers.
Uphall Golf Club's course measures 5,588 yards at par 69. A round of golf kicks off on Mains, a par 4 that comes in at 404 yards from the medal tees. It makes for a challenging opening hole, especially when played into the west wind, requiring an accurate tee shot so as to stay clear of troubles on the left and right, and then golfers are just a medium-to-long iron from a slim green. The round concludes on Binnie Craig, a par-4, 383-yarder that offers an excellent closing hole, again when that west wind is blowing.
After the round, check out the Uphall Golf Club's clubhouse, where management assures that although you're at a "Members Club," you'll be "made extremely welcome."

Winter golf
No club house
As it burned down
Once you get passed
The first two holes
As they use same fair
Way and so you got to watch. .And second green
is use by 15 hole as well
And a bit blind from tee
Apart from those points
Good little coarce
Very friendly staff/starter, lovely course with some quirky holes, thoroughly enjoyed playing there, will be even better when they get their clubhouse re built. Would recommend playing this course.
Great Course no facilities
The course was in great condition. The greens were being treated but didn't effect ball role.
There is no clubhouse following a fire but I believe a rebuild is starting next year.
Unfortunate
We were a bit unfortunate when we played Uphall. The clubhouse burned down a year ago or so, and so no or very little facilities plus the greens had just been cited and sanded so putting was almost a waste of time.
Generally the course looked great and I’d go back but we were very disappointed.
Quirky but great condition
Starter was very chatty and helpful. Layout of many holes is bizarre with a shared green, 2 shared fairways and 2 crossing fairways. Greens were immaculate. Probably better to play second time around
Very forgiving course!
Loved playing this course! Extra wide fairways and ground underneath trees clear so no trouble finding your ball.
Excellent course for beginners and experienced players.
No clubhouse, huts in use, burnt down two years ago !
Uphall
Coarse first 2 holes use same fairway
U just to watch for incoming golf balls
And the same again later
Other then that a good coarse
As club house burnt-out
There a garden hut u can get coffee
And sit out side
Excellent quirky course in great condition well worth a visit
A very warm welcome awaits at Uphall GC. Both the Soup Shack and the starter made us feel welcome and appreciated, excellent service indeed.
The course is a pleasant surprise throughout with extremely good fairways and greens. Suitable for all ages with easy walking with some short but challenging holes. The wind effect from the West adds to the challenge and enjoyment. Well worth a visit all year round with greens used in a 12 month season.
Nice enough wee course, but strange layout.
Course is actually quite nice. Pleasant surroundings and a few quirky holes.
Played on lovely summer evening and despite the course being busy, managed to make it round in good time.
Condition of the course was ok, bunkers and fairways good but greens not the best - slow and bumpy.
Course layout is strange, quite a few holes that cross over, or share greens/ fairway space which proved to actually be quite dangerous with people teeing off or walking in the opposite direction at times. You definitely need to be alert to other golfers playing.
Well worth a try
First impression is that you don't know where to go from the car park. Don't let that put you off. As you walk through, there is a cabin (clubhouse was burned down). Unfortunately nobody was there but all the tee boxes have their numbers on. It could do with some signage to the next tees in places but all in is a cracking course, in great condition and well worth a try. Tricky on places and sometimes a bit up and down but it has loads of character and the small greens make it more difficult
Decent value for money especially for a Sunday in peak summer, staff/locals were very accommodating and friendly. However the layout leaves a lot to be desired, fairly chaotic at times with the shared fairways and greens. Fairways/bunkers and tee areas were in good condition but greens were really slow. 3rd and 16th holes were the only real standouts, both nice par 3s. For the price it is you cannot complain
