Uphall Golf Club began in 1895, when the golf course was erected on terrain leased from Sheriff Shairp, who lived on the neighboring Houston Estate. It's a convenient golf course to reach, sitting just seven miles west of the Edinburgh Airport, outside of Uphall Village. It is an 18-hole parkland course set amidst mature trees and features relatively flat land within somewhat tight boundaries, making for a test for all golfers.

Uphall Golf Club's course measures 5,588 yards at par 69. A round of golf kicks off on Mains, a par 4 that comes in at 404 yards from the medal tees. It makes for a challenging opening hole, especially when played into the west wind, requiring an accurate tee shot so as to stay clear of troubles on the left and right, and then golfers are just a medium-to-long iron from a slim green. The round concludes on Binnie Craig, a par-4, 383-yarder that offers an excellent closing hole, again when that west wind is blowing.

After the round, check out the Uphall Golf Club's clubhouse, where management assures that although you're at a "Members Club," you'll be "made extremely welcome."

This is an excellent course, unfortunately we played on the day that the greens had been cored and sanded. We still enjoyed the course and will definitely be back.

Uphall golf course

First 4 holes a bit strange crossing over each other and sharing greens with the 15th but fine once you understand which green you’re aiming for. Just need to be careful with other golfers on the course. Fairways and greens well maintained. Speed of play is good and some fun par 3 holes scattered amongst the round to keep things interesting. Good value for money.

No facilities

We arrived at the course to find out the clubhouse burned down in March 2021. Portaloos were available in the car park. We have never played this course before so we were expecting to find a layout of the course on the cards but that wasn’t the case no map books of the course were available either. The course is very confusing on the fist tee you are driving down a fairway the has two other tee boxes on it so a long wait can be expected before you get a window to hit your first shot. I would not recommend this course

Everything was good but sad to here they had a fire in February and the clubhouse was burned to the ground so only a small shed for starter and a smaller shed for tea coffee and snacks and a couple of porta loos but all staff very cheerful and could not do enough for you

Best condition in west lothian hands down

What a joy this is. Stunning greens & beautiful fairways. Short but tight at points. Best conditioned course in the area by a mile.

Nice but......

Course layout for the first 5 holes is poor, needs more next tee signs, numbers on the flags and a course layout on the score card, no number on 5th tee box, by 2 tee boxes close to the 4th green.. We almost walked off. Lots of shared fairways and crossovers at the beginning and end.

The condition of the course is really good and the greens are excellent
