Uphall Golf Club
About
Uphall Golf Club began in 1895, when the golf course was erected on terrain leased from Sheriff Shairp, who lived on the neighboring Houston Estate. It's a convenient golf course to reach, sitting just seven miles west of the Edinburgh Airport, outside of Uphall Village. It is an 18-hole parkland course set amidst mature trees and features relatively flat land within somewhat tight boundaries, making for a test for all golfers.
Uphall Golf Club's course measures 5,588 yards at par 69. A round of golf kicks off on Mains, a par 4 that comes in at 404 yards from the medal tees. It makes for a challenging opening hole, especially when played into the west wind, requiring an accurate tee shot so as to stay clear of troubles on the left and right, and then golfers are just a medium-to-long iron from a slim green. The round concludes on Binnie Craig, a par-4, 383-yarder that offers an excellent closing hole, again when that west wind is blowing.
After the round, check out the Uphall Golf Club's clubhouse, where management assures that although you're at a "Members Club," you'll be "made extremely welcome."

Hats off to the staff this course was in fantastic condition, fairways were beautiful (even if I missed most of them) greens were great too. Starter very helpful and friendly and all the best to him in his recovery from recent surgery. Would definitely recommend
Uphill Golf Club
Great.course, excellent condition with very friendly starter greeting us when we arrived, as first timers at they’re course he explained the layout and playing protocols. Also members on the course were very friendly and welcoming.
Will be back
Great track for the price. Really friendly and knowledgeable starter - should have taken his advice and left the driver in the bag more often though. Sad situation with the clubhouse but once rebuilt, it will make Uphall an even better spot. Will be back to play again.
Fun course with a couple of crossover holes
A very enjoyable course with consistent greens, water in play on a few holes and lots of trees to keep you honest. Keep it straight off the tee and you should be able to score well. Crossover fairways at a couple of holes helps keep you focused, but don't let that or the temporary lack of a clubhouse put you off.
Good test
Nice condition course. Few shortish holes and some nice par 3s. Course was in good condition for time of year and greens were true
Excellent course
Really enjoyed first time playing at Uphall. Interesting layout, great condition. Only a couple greens were having some repairs done but overall cannot fault.
Couldn't have been made to feel more welcome by the starter - excellent advice on how to play the course on the day due to the conditions. Will definitely be back.
Little gem of a course
You need to be selective with your club choice on the 1st three holes but after this the course opens up to allow the big hitters to bring out the drivers.
The course crosses over on a couple of holes which was fine for us on a quiet Tuesday but it may be a bit difficult on a busy weekend
The fairways and semi rough were in really good condition but the greens had recently been cored and sanded so it will be May /June time before you see the benefit of this.
The staff were brilliant , very friendly which must be hard working out of a portakabin after the club house was razed to the ground in a fire a couple of years ago. A new one is in motion to be rebuilt soon.
Overall the course was a good test for both high and low handicaps and the staff are a credit to the club
Will definitely be back
Thanks

Unique layout
Enjoyed the few holes played on the clubhouse side the most. A range of difficulties and obstacles. Locals were a nice bunch too.
Great Condition and Friendly Staff
Course is in great condition for the time of year, greens running well and fairways playing quickly. Friendly staff helped us get our bearing and even offering some local advice (that was needed on the tricky par 3’s).
Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a challenging affordable track to play. Will be returning.
Great find
Sadly the clubhouse was burnt down last year but don’t let this stop you coming here. The starter made me feel very welcome and gave me some great advice on how to play the first and other holes! Just a really nice course highly recommend
Great course and friendly staff
Richard at the golf hut was brilliant - gave us some great course info before tee’ing off.
The course was in tremendous nick and a few more obscure holes which made it an enjoyable round. A few greens were a bit sandy but to be expected with coming out of the tail end of winter. Overall a great experience, would recommend and will definitely be back for another round.
Great course but slow
The course is enjoyable but still after 20 years of playing it, I don't understand the rights of way through the first 3 and last 4 holes due to the layout, but somehow the longest wait we had was on the 4th tee where a queue formed behind us. Ridiculous layout for such a busy course and I was surprised they were taking casual bookings on the same day as a medal.
