Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan - Oak Glen
About
Singing Hills Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen, as well as a 9-hole, par-3 course. The courses are tucked into a valley, surrounded by mountains and sloping hillsides that provide stunning backdrops on almost every hole. The Sweetwater River runs through the Oak Glen Course, coming into play on several holes including the memorable fifth hole, which is definitely a contender for one of the best par 4s in San Diego. This challenging hole requires an accurate drive across the river. The gently rolling terrain is sprinkled with mature trees. The layout features undulating greens and tight fairways. It is a challenging golf course but it is generally forgiving off of the tees, which makes it slightly less difficult than the hillier Willow Glen Course on property.

Poor course conditions, save your money
Course - I can't stress enough how poor the course conditions are at the moment. The fairways were mostly dry dead grass and there was no rough. The course basically goes from fairway (dead yellow straw) to mulch (twigs, leaves, and literally MULCH!) without any type of grass in between. This was the worst money I've ever spent golf related in my life! Seemed to be popular with walkers in the early morning.
Staff - The marshal was riding us throughout the round even though we never had another group teeing up behind us. Beverage cart attendant and pro shop staff were very helpful.
5 some on a Saturday really????
I can't believe there were 2 groups ahead of us with 5 players. That is inexcusable on a Saturday and never once saw a Marshall
Rough Conditions
The course layout was okay but the course was not in good condition. There were many bare areas in the fairways.
Poor value
The greens were receptive and putted fairly good, but were slow. Fairways had many deadspots and were very dry. Tee boxes were in fair condition
Slow goung
Nice course, nice layout and pretty well maintained. But three hours to play last eight holes. Give me a break!!
Courses talk about pace of play yet do nothing about it. Very disappointing.
Warm day in east county
End of summer nice day low crowd 1pm tee time 17 dollar hot deal great price for this course. Some dry spots are showing up in the fairways but not bad for this time of year in the east county. They have started to reduce watering or stop watering the rough that is way off from the fairways. Greens are in great shape and are not lacking for H20 and the rest of the property is well kept. Carts are clean and newer with GPS.
Customer Service
The course was great, especially for a dry and hot southern California day. My only complaint is that the cart service only came by once, on the 4th or 5th hole. I was a single, playing with a husband and wife twosome. They didn't want to stop at the turn, so we didn't. I didn't have a problem, because I figured we'd get cart service one more time. By the end of the round, I was exhausted and dehydrated. It seemed as though the tournament being played on the Pine Glen course took priority over the paying customers at the Oak Glen course.
Again, the course was great to play, and the staff was very friendly....when they were around.
Oak Glen ala Doug
The course is a fantastic stretch with bunkers, water, and trees to thwart your game. The 35/37 for a par 72 is a bit different but not unwelcome. The practice facilities are top notch. Driving range markers are spaced well and brightly colored. The carts are nice, lots of power and come with GPS. There were two service carts on the course. The course boasts a nice restaurant and a big comfy bar.
Late September Play
The greens are fabulously receptive and overall in great shape.
Tee to green also in nice shape. There are some noticeable dried out brown areas in the rough.
Watch out for that tree!
Difficult, but not kill you difficult. The trees can do a little bit of damage to your day.
Dried out and slow pace, took us 5 hours to finish
Greens were extremely slow but nice. Tee boxes were maintained with an exception of a few where there where bald spots and sloping. Fairways were dried out due to drought and extremely firm. Lots of brown grass. Really wish I could have seen this course in its prime.
The course was beautiful
There was a 4-some in front of us that was REALLY slow. I think that had at least 1 beginner. This is the only reason that I rated the course a little lower. It was in beautiful shape and we had fun except for the slow play.
Best Played in cooler months
Due to both the heat of the day and the season of the year the fairways had a number of bare spots. The greens are in very good shape and appeared to be watered regularly including during our round
The course layout is enjoyable and it is surrounded by beautiful mountain vistas and for either meals before or after the round the restaurant offers good food at a reasonable price
Dry in the rough...
Looks to be a course/facility in transition. They are obviously no longer watering anything off the fairway. We were told it will be converted to a desert course. This makes sense to save water in a area where they rely on diminishing wells. But it will make for a much more difficult course for those who cannot hit their fairways. Fairways are patchy, Greens were nice.
Immaculate Greens
Kudos to the Sycuan greens keepers for ALWAYS doing a fantastic job maintaining the greens and entire course. The pro shop and staff are always great and efficient. Great place to play.
Great course for the money
Hot Deal on Golf Now for only $34. Regular price $50, and weekends $75. Great great course for the price! Great bar, driving range, and great restaurant!
The oak trees that line the fairways will challenge your game
Think twice before reaching for that driver if you do not hit straight. The greens are very challenging the way the slopes and crowns and pin placements are.Great views of the mountains and scenery.Great getaway from the city.Golf carts are some of the best in town with color GPS.I will be back to play again. The food is great and the casino is only minutes away from the course.
Perfect Day
No one pressing you and no one holding you up. The management of the course was great. The weather could not have been better . The cart girl appeared like magic just when you felt the need for a treat. No better experience in San Diego
Great shape
Sycuan has always been one of my favorite courses to play in San Diego. It is always in great shape. Today it was in great shape once again. The only complaint, the greens were not as fast as usual.
We teed off around noon, earlier than our tee time. We finished a touch under 4 hours!
Look forward to playing again real soon. Let's get those greens faster
always in top condition
Played Oak Glen many times before as well as the willow
Sycuan is near five star status for around $40.00 on golf now.
some bunker sand was very hard maybe from sprinklers but the greens and fairways pristine.
As always please repair divots respect the course and fellow golfers
