Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan - Willow Glen

I enjoyed this course. First time playing there. The staff was courteous and helpful, the amenities were nice, and the course was absolutely beautiful; tucked away in the mountains near El Cajon. The grass was soft as carpet, which the staff will tell you seems to blossom in the afternoon. There wasn't a bad hole really. Many signature holes here. All in all a great course. Only minor problem is multiple areas where there is mulch. I wasn't completely sure if i could take relief there. But nothing to take away from the overall beauty and steller course conditions. Must play if in San Diego.

The courses at Sycuan (aka Singing Hills) are nearly always in great shape. Our round yesterday was no exception.

Tee boxes are manicured. Fairway are defined. The rough is fairly forgiving. Traps are full of white sand. Greens are fast but fair. The trees are mature, and they always have beautiful flower beds.

The lounge is a little "dated" but homey and serviced by a friendly staff.

Really very pleasant, I just wish this place was priced a bit lower.

Had a great time here. Good value, pace of play good even though we played behind a 5some, course in good condition.

For a weekend warrior, this course is exceptional. Challenging hole layouts, water hazards, protected greens. I did use up a good chunk of GolfNow Rewards for my friends and I, but the value would still have been great with the HotDeal price of $62.

Played the Blues (6651/72.3/128) in 4H Saturday as a 4some mid-day following a tournament. The weather was breezy, overcast and in the high 70's.

I really like this layout, nice variety of long/short and straight/dogleg holes. The par 3's are tough and demanding, the par 5's challenging. Good GPS on above average carts.

The tees were semi lush and nice to play from except the par 3;s which were pretty beat up.

The fairways were semi lush and well maintained with few divots.

The rough was mostly semi lush with some hardpan and wood chips mixed in under and around the hundreds of trees that line the fairways.

The sand traps were well maintained with fine, hard packed sand.

The greens were medium speed and mostly smooth. They held approach shots well and were firm. They are large and while not many have multiple tiers, they all have crests and crowns to deal with. Getting irons or chips on the correct side of the green where the hole is located is important here. The greens were slower and bumpier than what I have usually experienced here.

The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered, especially Gary the starter who got me out in a group 30 minutes before my tee time. Drink cart out patrolling, we saw it numerous times. Everything was above average, but the course is usually in better condition than I experienced this visit. I enjoy the layout, fun 18 holes of golf. Recommended = Yes.

Not a bad course but not very challenging in my opinion. I would not suggesr it to a low handicap player. Condition was pretty good and green very nice.

Always a pleasure to golf at the old "Singing Hills"....... constant improvements make me look forward to playing either course.

Beautiful course in perfect condition. The layout coming back to center with snack shop and bathrooms every 5 holes was fantastic. Every course should be so accommodating. This course immediately became my wife's favorite.

This course was a bit better than oak glen, more challenging. 35 bucks on golf now. Nice greens, good layout. Loved the uphill par 4, then the next hole was downhill, also beautiful. The 18th par 3, very nice. Won't pay 70 bucks to play though. Good track

Friend got a free round for hm and his brother. So we went to golfnow to get our twosome round. Showed up on the page, clicked it, said there was a problem. Finally called the number, they 'fixed' it. Saw my credit card bill. Billed three times for the round. Went to the course, he said we had booked it twice. Waiting to see what happens next. As for the course. Fantastic greens. They were 'punched' two weeks ago and putted perfect. Plenty of grass, way too many trees for one of my friends. Good bunkering. Overall? Had a great time despite the #4 hole where my buddy took a 15. Just couldn't get it over the water from a bare lie. If it wasn't 60 miles from my house, I'd play it a lot more often.

The course layout was fine... a few curious holes though but that was ok.

Plays like a shorter course because on many holes you have to hit a landing area that does not require a driver for the longer hitters.

Greens were in great shape and the fairways average to good. Trees play a big role here gotta be straight over long.and you get a lot of roll.

Greens were multi tiered. For more of a challenge, I'd make them faster... a bit slow for me but true rolls.

For some reason, iron shots go farther here so keep that in mind on your approach shots.

I was a single and got paired with two others and we had a great time and finished in 4 hours (1:30 tee time).

Staff was average demeanor not rude but a bit distant/ distracted. But it is a resort... I'd expect more from staff.

Amenities top notch no complaints on that.

I'd play it again but course seems to be missing the "wow" factor I've had at other venues.

This was my first time playing Willow Glen. I played Oak Glen (the other 18 hole course on the property) a couple of times before. By comparison, I think Willow Glen is more aesthetically pleasing, and the level of difficulty of the two courses is similar. Both courses are fun to play. Above all, I appreciate the variety.

This course caters to players of a range of skill levels. The course presents enough obstacles for someone who shoots in the 80's but is forgiving enough for someone who shoots in the 90's to low 100's. While there are plenty of lateral water hazards, and a few water hazards (ponds), you shouldn't lose many balls even with errant shots, because there is extra space on this course. If you put yourself in play off the tee, you can score well here. Tip: Driver is not always the best play off the tee.

Very few houses border the course, which I like. The views in the valley that this course resides are beautiful. It's a peaceful place to play. I recommend walking as it is a mostly flat course. There were two elevated tees that made for a fun shots down to the fairway below.

This course is fully loaded with all of the amenities. One of my favorite things about playing here is that the starter announced our tee time and welcomed us to the tee. Sometimes it's the little things that make all of the difference. Also, the tee times stayed on schedule, which is rare these days. It's all to common that when I arrive at a course (not this one) with enough time to warm-up, the staff wants me to tee off ASAP, just because the tee is open. It can be frustrating. Fortunately, Sycuan seems to stick with the tee schedule.

To sum it up, the fairly long drive to this course is more than worth it. This is a great course, that is run efficiently. It is a good walking course and if I can pay less than $70 on a weekend (walking rate), I'll consider booking a tee time.

The weather was definitely a factor.(rainy, wet, cold and very windy) Friendly staff, pace was great!!! (see weather) Will have to comeback and get revenge on the weather. Love the elevation changes. First time for my buddy, he found a new love with this course.

Played this course for the first time in many years. Enjoyed the pace of play, course conditions, and facilities, Green fees were reasonable. Will definitely make this a "must play" when visiting the San Diego area.

Course was in great shape. Greens were relatively fast but rolled true. Fairways were well manicured and the pace of play was excellent finishing in just under 4 hours.

It's been a number of years since I golfed Willow Glen. The course looked great and I saw many improvements. Sichuan has done a nice job making improvements.
