Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan - Willow Glen
About
Willow Glen is one of two 18-hole championship courses at Singing Hills Golf Club, which also boasts a 9-hole, par-3 course. Nestled in a valley between lush hillsides, the golf courses all offer stunning mountain views. The mountains also help to block the wind, which allows for more agreeable playing conditions. Willow Glen is slightly more challenging than the other championship course due to a hillier terrain and more fairways that are tightly lined with mature pines, oaks, and cottonwoods. The trees shape the landing zones and add definition to the doglegs. Proper placement off the tees is necessary for doing well on this course. Contoured mounding borders the greensides as well as more than 40 bunkers. Water also comes into play on six holes. The 11th through the 15th holes are an impressive stretch that presents a variety of challenges as well as unrivaled scenery.

Willow Glen at Sycuan Resort
The greens are always some of the best around. The fairways and rough used to be green everywhere, but there are now a lot of brown grass and dirt areas that used to be green grass. The golf carts with the gps are the best I have seen.
Fairways and tee boxes need some work..
The greens were in pretty good shape, however the same cannot be said about the tees and fairways. There are a lot of bare spots in the fairways. I understand it is the summer time so it isn't as nice as the spring and fall. The blues tees on 15 were rock hard. You needed a hammer to get the tee in the ground from the upper box.
Ok course. A bit pricey.
Course was in OK condition. Due to dry conditions, fairways and rough were a bit beat up. Tees and greens were generally good though. All that considered, paying $60+ was a bit high in my opinion.
Would have been a six hour round
Drove 45 minutes to get here only to be told when we showed up that it would probably be at least a six hour round due to a junior golf tournament going on Course didn't look that impressive anyway. It was my first time booking that in Golf now and will not again. It was also my first time driving out there I will be my last Not impressed
Nice course
Excellent surrounding view
A great old track!
Sycuan Willow Glen is a great test. Formerly Singing Hills, brings back good memories.
Although the greens had been punched recently, still a fun day!
An Exellent golf course
The course is really good and the cart is fantastic ever.
Willow
Played the Blues (6651/72.3/128) in 4 1/2 H using Forelinx. Played with weber2323 at a leisurely 4H pace, often felt like we had the course to ourselves. The weather was calm and sunny. In the high 40's when we started and in the 70's when we finished. Thanks Mike W. for a fun round! The tees were lush and nice to play from with few unrepaired divots. The over seeded fairways were lush and very well maintained with few divots. The rough was a combination of lush, winter thin with some hardpan and wood chips mixed in under and around the hundreds of trees that line the fairways. The sand traps were well maintained with fine, hard packed sand. However, a few were thin and need more sand. The greens were medium fast and smooth. They held approach shots well and were firm. They are large and while not many have multiple tiers, they all have crests and crowns to deal with. Getting irons or chips on the correct side of the green where the hole is located is important here. I like the ways these greens roll, yet I consistently putt poorly here? The tree lined layout is not overly tight. However, a few elevation changes, some water and red staked ravine hazards keep you honest. I really like this layout, excellent variety of long/short and straight/dogleg holes. I also like the par 3's on this layout, tough and demanding. The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. Drink cart out patrolling, we saw it numerous times. A negative here is that they did not renew their GPS contract, so you no longer get yardages on the GPS on the carts. Everything was well above average. I enjoy this layout, fun 18 holes of golf. Recommended = Absolutely.
Sycuan Resort: Pleasant Surprise
We had played Sycuan Resort years ago when it was Singing Hills but hadn't been back because there had been a big price jump with the new owners. However, after finding a Hot Deal for $42 each, we went back and are very glad we did. There are two 18 layouts, Oak and Willow. We prefer Willow; it has a more interesting and varied layout than Oak and has less construction, and better cart paths. The fairways are very lush, among the few reasonably priced courses with green grass. Greens were smooth but a bit slower than some of the other places we've played. The carts are very comfortable, with upgraded upholstery. However, the GPS system isn't functional. The owners didn't renew the contract with the supplier so you don't get distances. There are yardage markers in the fairways every 25 yards. Nice range, good chipping area, several practice putting greens and a beautiful setting.
Well placed trees
Willow Glen is a fun, challenging course. The trees on the course come into play on a many of the holes and they are just as effective as sand traps in deciding how to play a hole. I downgraded the course because of the slow play. 5 hour rounds are very frustrating.
Willow Glen Glows
My golfing partner and I were VERY pleased with our outing on the Willow Glen course at Sycuan. The fairways were grassy, greens were smooth, there were some water hazards to negotiate, and some elevation changes in tee boxes to provide some variety. Outstanding conditions for January!!!
We'll return to play the Oak Glen course.
One improvement that I would like to see is at least one additional set of tees for senior golfers. The current 3 sets of tees left me playing the whites @ 6,200 yds. while this senior golfer &age 73) would have preferred total yardage under 6,000.
The new riding carts were equipped with GPS which we were flummoxed to operate until we found out from the beverage cart gal that the course had not invested the $$$ to have GPS operational. . .
Sycuan Willow Glen
Played the Blues (6651/72.3/128) in 4H, 25M using Forelinx Saturday morning. Matched up with Bill, Jim & Brian, all really good guys to play with. The weather was in the mid 60's, partly cloudy with little wind, excellent golf weather.
The tees were lush and in very nice shape, few unrepaired divots.
The over seeded fairways were lush and well maintained with few divots.
The rough was a combination of lush, winter thin with some hardpan and wood chips mixed in under and around the hundreds of trees that line the fairways.
The sand traps were well maintained with fine, hard packed sand. Been awhile since I have played in hard packed green side traps that were not thin, these were nice to play out of.
The greens were medium fast, smooth and flat out nice! They held approach shots very well.
The tree lined layout is not overly tight. However, a few elevation changes, some water and red staked ravine hazards keep you honest. I like this layout more than it's sister Oak Glen 18. More variety of holes with some doglegs, layup par 4's and long par 5's thrown into the mix. The par 3's are more visually stimulating on this 18 as well IMO.
The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. Drink cart out patrolling, we saw it numerous times. A negative is that they did not renew their GPS contract, so you no longer get yardages here. This course is in very good condition, probably slightly better than the Oak Glen because I thought both the greens and traps were in better condition. Everything was well above average. I enjoy this layout, fun 18 holes of golf. Recommended = Yes.
Best the greens have ever been...!!!
Had 2 days of fun at Willow Glen...saying Goodbye to 2015 and Hello to 2016. Best I have ever seen the greens...slick and true...
Sycuan Willow Glen
Played the Blues (6651/72.3/128) in 4H using Forelinx mid day. Matched up with Carlos & Jeremy for a fun round. The weather was in the mid 50's, clear and breezy.
The tree lined layout is not overly tight. However, a few elevation changes, some water and red staked ravine hazards keep you honest. I liked this layout more than the sister Oak Glen 18. More variety of holes with some doglegs, layup par 4's and long par 5's thrown into the mix. The par 3's are more visually stimulating on this 18 as well IMO.
The tees were lush and in very nice shape, few unrepaired divots.
The over seeded fairways were lush and well maintained with few divots. The course plays longer because the fairways are lusher than most courses I have played recently, not as much roll as I have come to expect elsewhere.
The over seeded rough was generally lush, with some hardpan and wood chips mixed in under and around the hundreds of trees that line the fairways.
The sand traps were okay, better than Oak Glen, with nice white sand but a bit thin in spots.
The greens were medium fast to fast. Smooth and held approach shots very well. I was running the ball consistently by the hole the entire round, one of the worst putting rounds I have experienced in quite some time. I just could not gauge the speed and picked a poor day to putt poorly, because I had one of my best rounds in awhile from tee to green.
The customer service was excellent. Drink cart out patrolling, we saw it numerous times.
This course was in very good condition overall, probably slightly better than the Oak Glen because I thought the traps were in better condition. Everything was well above average. I enjoyed this layout, fun 18 holes of golf. Recommended = Yes.
Great course conditions
Pros:
1. Excellent greens -- runs smooth and fast
2. Fairways in great shape
3. Water doesn't have rank algae look!
4. Done in 3:45.
Cons
1. Easy to get lost because holes are not connected or even adjacent.
2. Par 3 are all about the same length.
Great Golf Campus
This is a great golf facility with three well-maintained courses. Restaurants and bars have excellent service and food. Pro shop has friendly and helpful staff . My favorite place to play.
Beautiful East County Course
This is one of my favorite places to play.. Staff is always friendly. Always make me feel welcome. The practice area is top notch. All 3 Course (including the Par.3) are in great shape. I highly recommend...
East County Legend
Hard to beat Willow Glen , not the longest but very challenging /great greens. Best in EC
Conditions abysmal - or worse
Shaggy fairways - that's where there wasn't dirt - you'd understand not watering the rough but bare dirt on the fairways and approaches!? They make Mission Trails look like a golfing paradise.
Restaurant undersized, overpriced, and rude.
Have the a second chance, but not a third!
course under repair
No one advised us that the course we played at full price had just reseeded just plugged the greens and it was cart path only.
Golf shop people acted like they could care less.
The said that was golfnow problem.
We had actually talked to the course the week before and was not told.
Bad news for golf now as well as the course.
Let the buyer be ware.
