Crescent Pointe Golf Club

About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Don’t play after aeration!
I haven’t been to Crescent for many years because the course had not been kept up. But I saw a terrific deal on Golf Now and read the basically positive reviews so I gave it a go. Overall the course was in okay shape although there was no sand in the traps and the tee grass was long. Unfortunately the greens had just been aerated (no notice given when I booked) and were unputtable. We ended up taking 2 putts on most holes by the end of the round. I may give it another shot when the greens are in better shape.
Crescent Point
Very nice course, good condition and excellent pace of play. Course was full and finished in a few minutes under 4 hours.
Meh
Course not in great shape, #15 has been an issue for at least 3 years.
Bar had no ice. 100 degree day and the bar had us go down to the cart return to get ice. Before the round started and at the turn.
Greens were recently aerated which happens but no warning was given.
Booked by calling the clubhouse and got connected to a call service. They likely didn’t know the recent aeration but we would have chose a different course if we had known.
Check for aerification
Course has a really nice layout, however it would’ve been helpful to know before booking that greens were still punched. No notification online on golf now, and when checking in they didn’t notify us. Disappointing they just gave a mild apology and didn’t offer any sort of discount, partial credit towards a future round, or free range bag, as I’ve seen before, but I guess each course has their own policies
Please do your due diligence in checking ahead of time so you know what to expect on the condition of their greens, while Plinko is a lot of fun, it belongs on tv
Under Repair
Greens just got irrigated so putting was an advantage. My only real issues were, no kitchen and no beverage cart in 95* temperatures.
Greens aerated recently
Would be nice if courses would have a disclaimer when booking tee times that notifies players when greens have been aerated recently. Wouldn’t have thought a course would be doing it this late. I like the course but was disappointed with greens to say the least.
Great Course, Challenging
We played on a rather rainy day, fitting in 9 holes on this challenging Arnold Palmer course. The staff was friendly, and the clubhouse lunch was great. Received a raincheck for last nine holes, looking forward to playing gain
Vacation Trip
I would say one of the nicest courses I have played , staff was great , course was in good shape , some greens where spotty but overall a good course would play there again .
Better Than reviews.
Course was in good shape. Lot of rain night before. CART PATH only. But no issues. Greens rolled true. Great job with fairways and rough. Staff was Great, friendly. Will be back. Keep up great work.
Lots of Water!
Six of front nine have water, back nine, not as much.
Rough is very deep, almost lost a ball on a Par 3 that was 6 yards off green. Would not have seen it but I walked within six feet and saw the very top of the balll. Greens have some blight on them but did not affect my putting.
biggs
very friendly staff. good course for the money
challenging design
Will not play again
Course in poor condition. It is obvious they are not putting any money in course maintenance especially in the cart path. Greens are poor and bunkers are rock hard. Not worth the money.
June 30th
Our experience at Crescent Pointe was fantastic. From the booking process to reception to checking on us during and after play, the staff could not have been more interested in making our experience different and superior.
The layout was challenging without question and it was clear that the current ownership/management is looking to make a difference moving forward.
Dale was an excellent ambassador for the course and went out of his way to make our day proper.
Arnold would turnover in his grave!
Just sad what happens when the Golf Course superintendent doesn’t have a decent repair budget. Firstly, the golf cart bridges over water could really use some maintenance. Many boards are loose and are dangerous to walk on. A couple boxes of 5” deck screws would be a simple fix. Cannot believe the Manager of the course doesn’t care. Why not do a few little things?
And, with all the free water around, why not lay it on thick? Oh wait, then you might have to mow too often. The greens had a little black mold here and there on the greens. Probably just needs a little pin aeration. I had fun but the place deserves a lot of TLC.
Solid Course
First legit round of golf I've played in years. The course was challenging, but very fun. Rained a ton the night before, but other than a few splotches on the occasional fairway and bunker, greens were in great shape. A LOT of water on the course, so bring your goggles. Very fun course and would 100% go back if I am in the area. If you are staying in Hilton Head but don't want to pay the excessive fees for courses on the island, this is a perfect alternative, not too far away.
