Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Dying embers

Amazing layout destroyed by poor maintenance. I would be surprised if they have fertilized or put weed killer on the course in 5 or more years. Bunkers washed out, greens very rough, trash cans haven't been emptied in days.

Having played courses in HH for 20 years, someone needs to write a book about the death of golf in Hilton Head as so many once great courses have fallen on rough times like this one. Still they somehow justified $75+ fees :-(

Better than expected

The greens were in good condition. The fairways and tee boxes were a little sparse on grass in places. Overall it was a fun day. Not hardly as good as some Hilton Head courses but the cost was about right. I expect the fairways and tees will be good in a few weeks which will make it an even better bargain.

Arnie’s place

The layout is true Arnold Palmer! The tee boxes and fairways need some work. The greens are excellent. You need more friendly faces in the pro shop and restaurant area. I totally loved the layout.

Course in tough condition

The course is generally in poor condition. The cart paths are horrible. You will need a neck brace.

Good pace of play greens In better shape than last time played here 3 years ago but no where near 20 years ago.. Arnie must have been in bad mood when he designed this course some nasty holes. Picturesque area need more attention to course condition.

Nice course

Great layout and in great shape. Pace of play very slow, I think it was an accident in the morning that backed everything up so nit the course fault. Still enjoyed the round.

Rough around the edges

We shouldn't be in the edges, but even parts of Fairways are bare. There are some tee boxes they have closed for renovation, but it doesn't dramatically alter play.

Great layout with good greens. Great value. I will definitely be back.

Like seeing an old friend

I used to play this course a lot, but I rarely play anymore and haven't played here in years. I had friends in town and gagged at the local round prices, so I shopped around and this was the best rate in and around Bluffton. I was a little apprehensive since the last time I played here the cart paths were horrible, but that's all been taken care of. The range (the only off-course amenity we used) was in good shape and the course was almost great. The greens were excellent and the fairways were good to very good (not that I was always in them!). I played Dolphin Head last month twice and the fairways were thin (greens were perfect though), so I think it's just a matter of transitioning from winter to spring for the fairways. Lastly, the staff is superior! The cart guys will bend over backwards for anything you need, our guy lived in HH Plantation but I don't remember his name. Thumbs Up all around.

Long day on the links

Course is not Long, but there are a little of tough lies. Water and beach are prevalent on every hole. Toke longer to get around than anticipated.
