About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

New Ownership is Stepping Up.
Great all around experience. The fairways were some of the kindest I've played. Some of the greens had rough spots but it was evident that they are working hard to remedy any problems. I appreciated that care was taken to place the pins away from any problem areas that existed. My one complaint is that the cart path crosses a street in the community called "Crescent Plantation." This just is not ok. I don't know how much leverage the course has on this, but efforts should be made to change that street name. I'm white, but it is just wrong to romanticize an experience of subjugation, torture, and oppression to fellow human beings.

High Value Course for the HHI area
I was a single and played in 3 hours. Coulda been quicker by playing through one group but had a good round going and didn't want to mess it up. There was 1 temporary green and a couple other greens with minor issues. I would/will play it again for $59.

Greens were rough
The layout was really cool and was great for dad and I who are new to golf to feel like we weren’t holding up the game. The conditions need some work and the greens need a lot of TLC. Talking with some of the staff sounds like new owners are working improving the course conditions which is great to hear because that layout is too good.

A change in ownership is very evident. New ownership seems to be putting money and time into the course. I think it will be a different course next year.

Cresent Pointe
Greens were very beat up. Some were unplayable. Tees were bad too. Little grass and more dirt than anything. Rate was too high for the condition of the course.
Staff was friendly but nothing to eat or drink since the grille was closed.

Signature Layout But Not Conditions
First time playing the course was really excited to go out and play with it being a Palmer Signature Course. Disappointed in the condition of the greens, recently just aerated and that's fine we knew when booking, compared to the course I played yesterday that had aerated 2 weeks ago the condition was abysmal. There was like 2 greens that were atrocious and completely bare, others had green top dress on it to hide the dead spots.
Overall I loved the layout, alot of position play needed off some holes that dogleg and with the short par 4s. If it weren't for the unique layout the rating would be lower, the condition of the greens bring down the overall rating.

Greens could use some work. Layiout was great, couple holes extend out into the marsh. For the money well worth the experience.

Where’s the green?
GN didn’t mention aerification. Rest of course decent but greens awful. There has to be better options for the money.

Hope they will improve
Unfortunately, we arrived 3 weeks after the course was bought out. They were undergoing some major green repairs which left sand covering most of the greens and making them unplayable. It made it very difficult to enjoy our round. The staff was very friendly overall and I don't discredit them in this review. However, it would have been nice to know beforehand that the greens were going to be in this condition. A discount would have been appropriate before beginning our round. However, the manager gave us two rounds to use in the next 6 months. Hopefully we can make it down again and hopefully the course has some improvements by then.

Arnie Would be Devastated
I usually play the course once during our annual trip and noticed a continual decline in Course conditions, but this was the worst. Yes, I was surprised by the recent aeration as I wasn’t mentioned on their lacking webpage, but it was more than that…weeds and lacking grass everywhere. The carts are in poor condition. One of the comfort stations didn’t have water. Finally, I couldn’t book a tee time on their webpage for their course, but could for their other courses. I won’t be back.
