About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Surprised!!!
Probably the worst, no the worst HHI course based on conditions. However, the layout and the challenge of the course was outstanding. It does not change the fact the the conditions were very bad!!! They should have told and warned us of this.
I will give it a year or two hopefully it will become a jewel!!

Hard Times
Played 4/21/23. We vacation in HH every year about this time. usually play Crescent Pointe every year and it has been one of our favorites. I play municipal courses at home and I am not a golf snob by any stretch of the imagination. Crescent is on hard times right now. Greens look black with green paint. Course doesn't look like it has seen water in months, cart paths are broken with roots and potholes and the wooden bridges need a lot of work. We love the layout and truly hope things turn around in a hurry.

Good bones
Layout terrific. Condition terrifically poor. Just overgrown and neglected. I was told it was sold the day before we played, and hopefully this bodes well for the restoration of a fantastic layout.

Lack of maintenance
Greens dying from Fungi and almost all black dirt. Tee boxes almost all dirt. No real grass just a cut weeds

Terrible condition
I started playing this course 25 years ago. It was a beatiful track. A wonderful routing. I haven't played it for few years. Now, no grass on the practice facility. Very little grass on the greens, mostly dirt, tee boxes lack grass. This was a beautiful course, now terrible.

Fun course but needs some love
The course needs some improvements! The grass is in rough shape and the greens need some love. My girlfriend is very much a beginner and it was a great course for her. Talking with a resident who lives on the course, said that the course was just bought by a group that owns other signature course. Hopefully the new owner will make the necessary changes to help a fun course. We will definitely be back to see the improvements. Would recommend after improvements are made.

Bad shape
It appears little to no money being put into the course to properly maintain it. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all rough. Cart paths and all wood bridges are in really bad shape - some patched with plywood and holes in the decking. If you consider $60 cheap, it was cheap, but hardly worth the money.

Overpriced Goat Track
We paid for 18 and left after 9. Range is great if you want to practice ever shot from the sand. Greens have as much grass as the range. You can’t tell the difference between the fairways and the rough, each consisting of more weeds than grass. Arnie is probably rolling over in his grave knowing his name is associated with this cow pasture.

Save your money.
Unfortunately a great layout with the worst conditions I have ever placed. A combination of dirt and weeds. Arnold would be embarrassed.

Crescent Pointe 4/15/23
I played CP Saturday 4/15/23. 8 handicap playing about 70 rounds a year. Tee boxes and fairways are decent. Greens have a little fungus but this will be gone in couple weeks when hot weather hits. Totally puttable. The cart paths have been repaired and are much, much better. Excellent and interesting layout with no “dumb” holes. Wildlife all over the place.
The course will continue to improve with warmer weather and less rain. But the people here are outstanding. Connie in the pro shop is an absolute gem. Outside staff and bar staff were super friendly. If you want a laid back, no hassle, great value round then I highly recommend CP.
