About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Call your chiropractor
Second time in as many trips to HHI to play the course. Challenging layout with slopes into water and plenty of sand. Accurate shots are key to minimizing frustration. Knowing the course helps to know where to place the ball.
Sand was in meh condition. Fairway bunker was refilled with rock. No joke. Greens were firm and fast except 15, which looked like a dried out primordial lake bed.
The chiropractor? The cart paths are horrendous. Broken concrete, raised sections, and rutted dirt in between. Seriously if that's my review title, it's significant.
I'd play the course again for the layout but would choose others first.
Ok course
No amenities, no food, no snacks, cart paths need a lot of work.

Rough conditions
Many sections of the course were in poor or rugged conditions. It was muddy in many places, and extremely brown, dry in others. Also, the cart path's were extremely bumpy and in need of repair. We saw crew maintenance working, so maybe improvements are in process.

Dumped
Was told I was paired with 2 other singles at 9:56 (following a frost delay). I reported to the starter at 9:56 only to be told the other 2 had already teed off, half an hour earlier. Had the option of playing as a single amidst all 4-somes, but didn’t want to wait 15 minutes on every hole. Starter was of no help. Wasted 2 hours and wasn’t even offered a rain check.

Day off
I truly love the layout of this course. It is definitely challenging and different than many on and off Hilton Head Island. The greens were in pretty good shape, however, the bunkers and areas up and near the green really do need some TLC. I feel for the price paid, which included some discounting unfortunately there are better conditioned courses on the island. Hoping to see improvements come this spring.

20 minutes to get past security gate!
Course was rough around the edges, some greens were damaged but I would score on a curve given late fall conditions.

Never Disappoints
This is my 6th time playing this course and always make it a priority when I come down here, especially for the challenging holes, great views and seeing the odd ‘gator or two. This time they drove a golf cart to meet me in the parking lot once I had parked to unload my bag. What service! The pro shop was well stocked and gave me a heads up on the green and tee box re-seeding, which is typical this time of the year. I would have rated higher @5 stars, expect that none of the tee box markers were on level ground.....really! All in all a good course in great shape and some picturesque holes, especially #9. Oddly some of the holes had some really saturated areas, which was unusual this time of year.

Nice layout but poor conditions
The course has a challenging layout, lots of water and it is well bunkered. The greens were in ok shape but the fairways were bone-dry and the turf a lot thinner than other courses we played this week. Worst of all we played off temporary tee decks which significantly changed the length of most holes. This was not mentioned when we booked and had we known about the temporary tees we would probably have passed.

Only played nine
I’ve played nearly all of the Hilton Head / Bluffton courses, so on this trip I wanted to play courses that I’d missed on previous visits.
The two courses at Port Royal were both great layouts and in good condition. Palmetto Hills Cupp course was a cow field - terrible conditions on a course that previously had a great reputation.
Crescent Pointe is an Arnold Palmer Design company designed course (which is usually a good thing.
The course layout was great, however the course conditions were not. The fairways looked very dry and there was very little definition between fairways and rough. The greens were good.
We only played nine - it was a bitterly cold day (45 degrees) and when it started to rain on the ninth hole we admitted defeat. While this may not be considered cold to a Scottish golfer, as Florida natives we struggled with the bitterly cold conditions.
We will try again and return when the weather is warmer and hopefully the course conditions a little better.

Good play
Place of play was good. Overall good 18, but some greens need attention. Would recommend.
