About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Challenging course, lots of water
Tee boxes were a little rough, but fairways and greens were in good condition.
Scenic, Fun Layout - Great Experience
Just played for first time. Super scenic course built around marshlands and woods (mostly). Important to understand it’s built on marsh and sand, so it just needs to be in good shape where it counts and I thought it certainly was. Some tee boxes were pretty sandy. But super friendly staff, reasonable concessions. Good hot dog! Overall great experience and very good value. If you’re expecting pristine conditions, go play Harbour Town for $400/round.

Great Layout, Poor Condition
I wish I thought to take pictures of this course when I played on May 19, 2021. I've played this course before and it was in great shape. Not so much anymore. I imagine Covid had a lot to do with it, but I can't understand why now because it was packed. We had an early tee time so we played pretty quick. However, the driving range is in ok shape and the golf balls look like I found them in my grandfathers bag. They are beat up and need to be replaced. I played from the Blue tees and most of the tee boxes were in very poor condition and it looks like they were using Centipede grass for them, which is the cheapest grass and not conducive to playing golf from. The greens were hit or miss, only a few were in exceptional shape. The guys playing behind us drove their carts pretty much right up to the greens, which tells me that they don't manage play very well as any serious golfer knows better. Overall, I won't go back. If you are looking to just smack around the ball and don't really keep track of a handicap, this course is great for you. You can't do much more harm than the crew has already done to the course and based on what we saw, no one would tell you otherwise. It used to say an "Arnold Palmer Signature Course" on the sign by the road. It no longer does and I imagine that's because of its condition. It's a shame because it used to be a great course.

Interesting course not in best of shape
Excellent layout. Tees not in very good condition. Greens fair but some disease spots. Fairways not real easy to find a good patch of grass. Sand traps close to green were in good shape. Overall course needs a little love.

Slow going
Price is right, pace is wrong.
I am amazed at how many golfers I have seen who have no concept of how to efficiently move around the course in under 4 hours:
Suggestions:
Be ready to hit when it's your turn - don't stand around looking at each other
1 practice swing is plenty
Keep up with the group ahead of you
If you can't play faster than the group behind you, let them play through.

Disappointed
I should of paid attention to the reviews I read the day I booked. "Jack Nicholas would be disappointed". Tee boxes terrible, fairways okay, greens not good. Use to like this course.

Bumpy Greens
Tee boxes were in extremely rough condition. Greens were bumpy with large patches of burned out grass.

Disappointing
From the conditions to the pace of play this normally sadfying golf course disappointed. Charging 60 plus for this course is unfair. I love the layout and the course in the past has not been in this bad of shape. Hopefully the new ownership will add some improvements and return this course to it's former conditions.

Great layout. Beautiful scenery with holes around lagoons and the sound.
Course has been making great progress on restoring the conditions from when it was originally designed.. Sand is very consistent and raked, greens are fair and fast although a few greens are a work in progress.

Great Recovery & Improvements
This course has a fantastic Palmer Design that fell into disrepair years ago, but current management is making great strides in bringing everything back up to "par". Very impressed by all of the work that has been done this year.
