About
Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort offers four 18-hole, championship courses designed by three renowned architects. Raven Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., was carefully carved through marshes, native wetlands, and towering pine forests. Jones created a layout that is hailed for being both modern and traditional. It is also notable for how it seamlessly flows into the surrounding nature. The golf course offers plenty of variety both in shot options and visual scenery. The diverse holes are accented by dramatic changes in color and texture throughout the landscape. Water comes into play frequently and there are a number of strategically placed sand traps. Golfers are presented with a myriad of different ways to play each hole, which means thoughtful strategy is a necessity. The golf course's large, undulating greens also make proper club selection essential.

First Time At Raven
This was my first time to play the Raven course. It was damp as it had rained hard the night before. The course was in decent shape for this time of year. The layout was nice for a resort course, but not that difficult. I liked the island green hole. The pace was a bit slow, but not that bad. May have been because I was playing alone and had 2 foursomes ahead of me that I could not pass. I did feel the course was a bit overpriced compared to other courses in Florida and Hilton Head, not to mention my home state of MN.
Hole 18 closed for long term repair without advance notice
Course layout and general conditions were great. EXCEPT for hole 18. Prepaid $125 for the round, but upon checkin was told the final hole was closed for long term repair. They split par 4 hole 16 into 2 short par 3s. I understand the need for repair, but advanced notice and a discounted rate should have occurred.

Staff
Not very friendly staff to be honest. Everyone in the group felt the same way. He asked me if I played before. I said yes, u cross a bridge. He said I thought u played here before. That bridge is for the driving range. I did not respond, but I was pretty sure I crossed a bridge to first hole. Got to starter and he asked if played here before. I said yes, but was unsure of what bridge given what the pro shop said. The the starter says it sounds like u never played here before, not joking. I am thinking what’s the big deal. There are bridges everywhere. When done, I just parked cart where I saw a spot, no signs anywhere. The cart guy rudely tells me I am supposed to drive it to tbe drop off. Again no signs. Great course. Played well, just a bad experience at first and last.

Courses were nice but overpriced.

One of the best
As a member of Sandestin Golf Resort, I can say Raven is one of the best courses in the area. If you are visiting and want to get a round in, look no further than Raven. Challenging course layout with well cared for greens and fairways. Tee boxes are taken care of, but expect some wear given this is a vacation resort. One of my favorite places to play and I play here often!

Greens too slow. Always comment wish you had a senior tee between the current 5000 yds red tees to the jump of 5800 yds currently.

Raven is a challenge
The course layout is tough but fair. The key is patience when playing the Raven. Take what the course gives and don’t get to aggressive.

Raven
Very good layout with challenging holes. Pace of play was very good. Course needs more racks and the on course restrooms need to be upgraded. One of our favorites in the Destin area

Ok course but the greens are very grainy and slow
The Raven is an ok course but the greens were really slow and very grainy which effect your putting in a very unpredictable way. Also the course is not fully open since #18 is closed due to work on the fairway. Unfortunately there are not enough golf courses around and with the tourist these courses get high prices.

Raven first
Very nice course layout with moderate green speed. Some pin holes appeared to be lifted since slower speeds at the hole often veered away from the hole. Tee markers could use a coat of paint to more easily distinguish them. White and silver often looked the same.

Fantastic course. Nice greens, highly recommend. I’d say 5/5 but that is reserved for only a couple courses.

Very playable and fun
Played with my wife and another couple, all in our 60’s. The course is challenging but fair. Greens rolled true and were moderate in speed . The Raven is worth playing !
