Raven at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

The Raven is typical Florida golf. Plenty of water and bunkers with basically dormant bermuda fairways and rough.. Greens were healthy and good speed but the cups didn't appear to have been changed for a couple of days.. Golf shop staff was cordial and informative. Pace of play acceptable (4:10).. The Golf Now price made it a fairly good value but paying rack rate or even guest rate given the course conditions would be too much $$$. I believe that most players are members or get the guest punch card which would be about $60 for this course and $40 for the other two public Sandestin course. Overall, I went as a single and joined another single and a twosome of members and it worked out fine. Being from the midwest I am accustomed to playing on green grass but that's the way it is here.

First the obvious: hole 18 is closed for water main repair. No problem as you get to play 16A and B. Some parts of the fairway on different holes are a bit damp do to poor run off; overall does not take away from the whole golf experience. The rest of the course is fantastic and wonderfully laid out. I always enjoy Raven and have a great time no matter what I score! Also the staff at the pro shop are excellent. Despite being busy (which is a great thing), they are always accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend playing Raven!

Course is good to play - plenty of challenging shoes. Staff was operational, but lacked warmth.

While at a conference at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, a coworker and I decided to get up early and play before our conferences started. We looked up reviews and asked for local recommendations, and The Raven was one that was recommended. Looked at the price of a round and made the assumption that for $100+ the course would be in decent shape. Unfortunately the assumption was incorrect.

The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in poor shape and appeared unkempt. Many weeds were on the greens and seemed like much of the course had drainage issues (likely due to the rain the day prior, so no fault there).

The bottom line issue in my opinion was paying $200+ for the two of us to play should have had a nicer course or more of a discounted off season rate because of the shape of the course.

The off season shape of the course would be the equivalent of a municipal course in the off season, with the municipal course only costing $35 to play. I expected more from a resort that advertises for golf.

Played this course for the first time and had high expectations. Course was is good condition but would have loved to know that hole 18 was under construction and closed, driving range was closed, and cart path only on every hole even though the conditions were not needed for cart path only on every single hole. It just would have been nice to know all of these things before you pay over a $100 to play one of the better courses in the area. Would love to come back when all of course is available along with the amenities.

The Raven at Sandestin is always a good choice. Good course, plenty of challenging holes, friendly staff. Course is in good shape year around.

I have played the Raven course about a dozen times and keep running into the same issue. Please please please take some of our money we spend on green fees and hire a Ranger. When you have four groups on the same Teebox and six groups on the same hole you have a problem. I quit today with five holes left to play because I got tired of standing on the Tee for 30 minutes waiting. Stop hoarding the green free money. Nobody really cares that you used to host a Korn ferry event. Hire a Ranger to speed up play. Love the golf course layout and is usually in decent condition. But dang the pace of play is pathetic

This is a great course, excellent greens complimented by a superior staff

Back nine very difficult

Holes all beautiful with lots of water but fair landing areas

No real bar or dinning area - couple seats outside and one walk up window to order limited drinks and menu

Restrooms were closed wham we finished at 4:40

Greens hard to read but fair

The lady starter at Raven needs to be train for a better customer service. I seen a group of 4 somes/golfer went at the tee box, and I did not see anyone else went for 20 minutes. I asked the lady starter if I could go a little early since it's open and she won't let anyone else go. I watched for another 20 minutes and the tee box was still open. Other golf courses in the area let you tee off early if it's open. But not in Raven, poor customer service. This is not the first time that I observed this lady starter, she does this every time I played this golf course.
