Diamond Hill Golf & Country Club
About
Diamond Hill Golf & Country Club in Dover, Florida stretches over rolling hills where there is no shortage of water. Dry greens are never a concern as water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course. The greens vary in speed from medium to fast and the fairways are lined with towering trees. In addition to the water, there are also numerous bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. The golf course has some challenging par 3s, especially if it is a windy day. With several holes playing over water and a few houses close to the golf course, well placed tee shots are essential to scoring well at Diamond Hill.

Great Golf Value
I first played Diamond Hill in 2001. It was basically a cow pasture with greens. That all changed several years ago when a new owner came on site. The fairways and greens are for the most part in very good shape. The greens were recently aerated and are coming back nicely. Lots of tree trimming has taken place to open up the holes from the tee boxes. Using the online coupon we played 18 holes for 27.50, a great golf value! We play every Wednesday and Diamond Hill is a regular stop for us each month. Snack bar and menu could use an update but the people are friendly and the hot dogs are grilled. If you have not played there in a while I recommend you give it another try.
what a shame
The layout of the course has so much potential but someone obviously doesn't care to make it nice. Looked like garbage and played even worse. And if that wasnt bad enough they a bunch of kids on the course without proper attire who obviously didn't even know to wear a collar. Played 12 holes in 5 hours before giving up on finishing the round.
I'll never go back.
Getting Better
I enjoy playing Diamond Hill occasionally. You can tell the new owners are putting money and time into making this course great. I love the layout and that it's a course here in Florida that isn't flat. It's hard to find a course around here with elevation changes. So if you're looking for something different then all the other courses around here, Diamond Hill is a good place for you. A few of the greens still need work but from what I hear, this course was nothing but a pasture 2 years ago. It's in really good shape now compared to then. It will probably take another growing season and winter to get this course in great shape but it is definitely on its way up.
nice surprise
Read some reviews and held off playing this course but got a deal to play for $15. and said let's go. We arrived and were greeted by Greg who explained their situation, great layout that was neglected for some time, new owners 12 months in and making changes. There were some, very few, sparse areas, move the ball not rocket science, and the greens were slow but mostly full. Some wet areas, but the overall experience was great. Moved thru the 18 quickly and Greg was correct, a really good design and fun playing. Warren looked after us in the bar so all in all a very good experience. Be smart you're not playing a tournament every round, have fun, you can do it here.
At least ot has some hills.
one of the few courses in the area with some elevation changes. Greens were pretty rough the rest of the course not bad. You can let it fly off the tee they give you some room.
Surveyors Outing
I was so impressed with this tournament today. First of all, the Head Pro at the course made sure this day went off without a hitch. He went above and beyond to make this the best tournament we have ever had. The inside and outside staff was perfect and even included the use of a beer cart which definitely improved the morale of the players. The golf course has really improved since years past and looked fantastic. Couldn't say enough good things about this day/staff/course. Now, for the one bad, REALLY BAD, part to this day. The bartender on staff was surly, rude and completely embarrassed this group. Her demeanor and attitude made for a really uncomfortable time when you tried to take a break and maybe have a quick beer. If there were to be one reason we would not continue having our tournament there, she would definitely be IT! Word to the wise (or at least Human Resources) she needs to find a job that is NOT in the customer service industry. Otherwise, fantastic day! So, thank you to Diamond Hill for everything!
would play again
Wide open, a few challenging holes, good pace, course in good shape.
Diamond Hill
The fairways are sparse and overall conditions are sub par. I have played other local coarses that are a much better value. Not worth the price paid. A lot of the greens lacking in grass. We won't play there again for a while
First time
Course is in fair condition but as we understood new ownership is making huge improvements. Fairways are a in need of more grass, greens are in good shape. Course has tremendous potential and will continue to improve over the months ahead. We definitely will return. Course layout is really nice.
Barely alright
For a Florida course, we loved the lay out; lots of dog legs and plenty of interesting pin locations. However, the tee boxes need some TLC. There are a lot of fairways and greens that had diseased grass. The greens themselves played like plywood and could use watering. For the $35 we paid, I would play some where else.
Terrible fairways and greeens
This course was extremly dried out ,everything was burn't ,lots of dirt on the greens ,fairways were lacking any grass
Always has the Potential
Diamond Hills will never be a great course, having said that it has always had the potential to be, challenging course layout but conditions are always average or just a bit better or worse. Today it was just a bit better than average remembering all the times played in the past. Well worth a play but don't expect Augusta or anything close.
Great Layout.. a few bad greens but improving
Great Layout. Fun Course.. A few bad greens but in much better condition than it used to be. worth the $30-$40 rate.
A very enjoyable round
The course presents lovely hills with views and challenging water hazards on par fives. The humidity oftheweather was compensated by the wind for our comfort.
We are going back this week.
Eh...
Definitely not a "country club"... This place is a muni... Staff was very friendly and the course wasn't in terrible shape...but it could've been lots better.
Solid layout, improving condidtions
I had played Diamond Hill several times over the years, each time I thought it could be a good course if they ever got it in decent shape. For the first time I can say it is now a good course. They apparently have a new super who is really working to get the course in good shape. The course stands out among courses in the area, as it has a fair amount of elevation change. The course provides a lot of variety hole to hole, and is a really enjoyable course. The conditions are still not top notch. The greens are slow, and a couple are still in rough shape. The rough is patchy at best. But most of the fairways are in adequate shape, and although slow the greens do roll fairly true and are a huge improvement over the past.
It's not a luxury experience by any means, but Diamond Hill is an enjoyable course that is now in good enough shape to make for a fun round. The clubhouse shows its age, but the food is decent and people are excellent.
Good greens
Fairways pretty rough putting greens ok would not return .
Dog Patch
Diamond Hill is still a "Dog Patch" Lots of greens showing there wear. No reward for being in the fairway as you were hitting from scruff 90 percent of the time. No grass in the fairways. They stacked the golfers up trying to make their money. Desk person was very friendly. However there were no range balls to be had as they were all out in the field being picked up. Saw no one picking them up with a machine. Stuck a new golfer and his coach in between our foursome and a twosome....When we got to 10 there was some other group in front of us. We waited on them the entire back 9. Now I know why I havent played there in over six months. I was told they were under new management and they had cleaned it up...NOT!!!!!!!!!!
fairways horrible
fairways are brown dead hardpan! Never had a fairway shot off of green grass. fairways need water & fertilizer!!! Rough was somewhat green, greens were ok, grill room was good, driving range balls were poor. Sorry but worst course we played all week, wish we skipped it.
Wish I had read your post before I used my coupon to play this course. Dagnabutt!!!!!
