Quintero Golf Club
About
Located in the desert just north of Phoenix and Scottsdale, the golf course at Quintero Golf Club is a challenge but with up to as many as nine tees per hole, it can accommodate golfers of all different abilities and handicaps. The rolling, desert terrain of the course features dramatic elevation changes for interesting play. The golf course's design has wide fairways and plenty of water hazards and sand bunkers. The most difficult hole is the par-5 8th hole, which plays uphill with three large bunkers alongside the right side of the lay-up area. Another difficult but noteworthy hole is Quintero Golf Club's third, which has a scenic lake to the left that sometimes tricks golfers into playing close to it with their tee shot for an easier second shot to the green.

Hole 9 (I think) Photo submitted by azwilli on 09/27/2012
Amazing course contours.
I'll be back when the grass is green. While the fours has amazing contours, incredible views, and well kept greens, the brown fairways were the only downside. I know the turf has to change but this seemed more severe than that. Wish I could come back later this summer to give it a second chance.
Staff were great! Class all around, from the moment I arrived, a bit late due to GPS fail.
Pass for a while
Fairways are horrendous. The greens were crusty and hard to read. I would not play this again until the bent grass fairways grow in.
Lack of drinking water was discouraging.....
This is my 3rd time playing here and even though it is way out in the middle of nowhere it is usually worth the ride....not when it is 110* apparently....they only have 3 or 4 "water stations" for the whole course....and the water that comes out is outdoor temp..not cooled off...so we got water that was over 100 degrees to drink...they did have an ice machine but one of them was broken so we were so dehydrated we had to drink the hot water..totally ridiculous for this caliber course....i would normally rank the course A- but after today drops to C+...several fairways were burnt out and i think we saw the ranger once so nobody to complain to...i would not play here in the summer ever again....all other courses i play have drinking water at least every 2 holes....
Target Desert Golf At It's Finest
Weather was great, as it was a bit overcast and cloudy. They had aerifed the greens a couple of weeks prior to play, something that would have been nice to know ahead of time. Greens were a bit sandy, but nothing that was irritating to the point of demanding a refund. Course was immaculate and in tremendous shape. Yes, the drive to #1 takes a while, but soak it in, the scenery is gorgeous. If you're a hacker like me, take plenty of extra golf balls. Not much room for error off the fairways. Each hole in unique and several offer a "risk vs. reward" scenario. Several tee boxes for all skill levels. Try to carry, get your birdie. Lay up and settle for par. Nobody pushing or pulling us during our round. The only blemish was when my buddy asked about a voucher he purchased at a charity auction for a foursome which had expired. He asked the pro if he could use it during the summer and the pro was less than accommodating and dug in his heels saying there was nothing he could do. Straight up "no, it's expired". He wasn't asking to use the voucher in February or March. Luckily, my friend came across the managing partner on the course that day who overrode the pro's decision and allowed him to redeem the expired voucher for another round in the summer. The pro's attitude toward customer service could use some polishing up, but the MP set it straight. Will be back for sure.
The "Troon North" of the West
Quintero was born to be an exclusive golf club but financial difficulties resulted in bankruptcy and the course being available to the public. The course is extremely well maintained and the facility is top notch.
Quintero is a combination of "postage stamp" greens, narrow fairways, and well placed hazards. Many of the fairways have slopes away from the center, and with the hard ground associated with summer , balls find their way into the well places hazards. Quintero rewards course management and punishes errant shots. The par 3's are all majestic views with shots requiring a carry -- a couple of par 3's requiring a carry over water.
The greens were a little rough from recent aeration but will soon heal. Even with the aeration marks they ran fast -- I would assume even faster once recovered.
Many of the sand traps are really micro rocks rather than sand (typical of many desert courses) but it looks like sand is being brought in for bunkers around the greens.
I would highly recommend Quintero for a challenging round and even if the golf goes bad the majestic views and wildlife will make an enjoyable experience.
Quintero Lover
This is a wonderful golf experience since the time you arrive to the end of your 18 holes. Every hole is a special moment and despite the challenge you enjoy the views around the course. I will go for more Quintero golf many times in the future and will mark this course among the top five in the entire Arizona. My wife and I have been playing golf all over the state of Arizona for the last ten years and this for sure will remain in our top selection. My only recommendation will be to have a more active ranger to move around the course.
Awesome Course
The course was in great shape and as challenging as ever. The staff was awesome as always.
Always great
The greens had gone though summer treatment and we bumpy but this is to be expected. We were first out on the course and could not have enjoyed the day more. A real test of golf and a great location.
Great scenic course
I would have given 5 stars across the board, but the greens were aerated and they never told us when we booked. It was slightly dissapointin. Fantastic course though in every other regard.
Great course
The course was in great shape, although the greens were recently punched. Views are incredible. We played on a Saturday morning and the round was completed in 4 hours and 10 minutes. The course rewards straight hitters. This is a great value for the price
great views beautiful
greens just trimmed and sandfilled would have been nice to know.
Fastest greens I've played on in years! Great course!
The greens were lightening fast, but true.... Course was in excellent shape... understand the greens may be aerated soon though.... Really enjoyed our outing...
Quinterro Experience
First time to play this course and it was an outstanding experience. All of the Par 3's where elevated and there was an abundance of slope around the entire course. Bring extra balls if you are not on your game as this desert course is unforgiving.
One of the Best Courses in the Southwest
Rees Jones masterpiece. Played end of May and in excellent condition. Greens fast and true. This is a must play.
Beautiful vistas
Somewhat out-of-the-way but worthwhile at least once !
Pace of play is slow largely because there is a good distance between holes.
Fantastic conditions for late May and, really challenging, 'specially the speed of the greens.
Great, Except....
Just an awesome course, great conditions tee to green with the exception of the bunkers, bunkers are in terrible shape, fairway and green side bunkers all very shallow and filled with rocks. A blemish on an otherwise almost perfect course. I did see the green side bunker at 17 that had actual, real sand in it, so maybe they are beginning to redo them. They may have had others redone but this was the only one I noticed.
Other issue was the pace, 5 hour round, the marshal was more concerned about carts in the rough, the enforcing the pace of play. There should never be 2 holes open in front of any group, this was reported from course staff during the round, why not enforce the pace?
Other than the couple things above the course is always worth the drive.
Key to beating the slow pace is getting of early or late, course always seems to log jam with the middle of the day tee times.
Great round
Had a wonderful time. Course was in great shape, only issue was the sand in the bunkers. Completely different sand in multiple bunkers, I asked the cart guy and he explained that they are upgrading the sand. ...which I applaud. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were disappointed we did not see the cart girl through the front 9. We did see her sit and chat with the cook at the turn for about 25 minutes while we waited for the green to clear. She never moved the entire time, when we putted out we interrupted her conversation to purchase refreshments, she was still there when we drove away. A little bit nitpicky on my end, but we were thirsty and her ethic did not match her coworkers. We will be back.
Greatest in AZ
Greatest course I have played in AZ.....super plush...tight fairways, fair rough, and fastest greens anywhere! Hard to hold shots into greens, but it didn't matter. Wonderful staff one and all. Cart girl was around numerous times and very friendly. Definitely see the Troon influence here. First class operation from the second I got on the property. GO PLAY HERE!
Greens
As of the day I played, these are the best and fastest greens most people will ever play. Course in fantastic condition. Would like to see more people fix their own ball marks though, stop being lazy.

Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. First and foremost we would like to apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you and your playing partners. Quintero prides itself in not only great conditions but a great experience. We are discouraged to hear of your negative experience. Above all else, providing an excellent experience is our main goal and it is unfortunate that yours was not up to standard.
As you may or may not know many of the premier courses in the Valley accelerate the transition from Rye grass to Bermuda grass by spraying the course with a chemical that can produce a browning condition on the rye grass. This application is key to assuring the growth of the Bermuda grass and the ultimate condition for the fall overseed.
Given the opportunity, We would like to learn more about your experience and be able to make things right. Please contact us at your convenience.
