fairways were immacalate
course is located within a gated community. seemed to taylor towards regulars which is fine. we played on a tuesday early morning and were able to get out as a twosome. the rough was really tall! looks like it hadnt been mowed in a week! had a super hard time finding our balls the first couple of holes! but they were mowing ahead of us and after about 4-5 holes, the rough was more reasonable (and we started to play better!) the best part of this course were the fairways! they were immaculate! almost as if they had minimum play. overall, the course isnt that hard except for the greens. just about every green was two or more tiers with almost no flat putts. and being this was our first time playing, putting was crazy! also, fee was a little expensive given no services (beverage cart and club house) overall, really nice course and not as crowded or overplayed
San Gorgonio is ok
San Gorgonio is part of a housing complex. It is a basic course, well maintained, with challenging greens. Perhaps because it is part of a development there is wall to wall grass everywhere - like some massive park. Acres and acres! Irrigation water consumption must be huge. Because the fairways and "rough" (read "lush') are so wide, the houses are rarely a concern for players. Ponds and bunkers cause one to pay attention on many holes. We quite enjoyed ourselves in spite of the rudimentary facilities. You pick up your cart on the edge of the parking lot and drive to the small starter building to check in.
There is no practice facility at San Gorgonio, so we were directed to the Santa Rosa sister course about 5 minutes away by golf cart. (Luckily we arrived in plenty of time since we weren't sure how to get to the course and had allowed lots of time. Turns out it is very easy to find.) Range has mats - not grass.
We had an enjoyable day and the course was fun to play.
Great Course - no food or beverages
Loved this course and the conditions of the grounds, fairways, greens, etc, BUT there was no food or beverages to be purchased anywhere on the course. Not even a protein bar at the Pro shop or at the turn. I've never been on a golf course in my life that didn't have any food available anywhere. If you play here, bring a sandwich and beverages, or you'll be miserable like we were by the end of your round. According to the Marshall, most people that play are residents and bring their own food and drinks so a beverage cart would "bleed money".
Sun City
My wife and I played with a couple from Sun City and they were very enjoyable. Will play this course again
weird course
The first 18 hole course that i have ever played that the first 9 holes had 4 par 3's. The back nine was normal. The fairways were perfect condition but the greens would not hold a ball. Two courses there, we played San Gorgino...very confusing to get to correct course because no signs!! Golf Now no mentioion that the hot deal was a SHOT GUN START!!!
Great course
Overall this was an excellent course for the money. The course was challenging yet rewarded good shots. The greens were fast and true. This is one course I will definitely be playing again in the future.
Fun golf
Nice course. Would play it again. Surprised there was no beverage service while on the course. The staff greeting us when parking the car and getting ready was very helpful - 5 stars. But different experience in the club house while checking in - 3 stars.
Course
Course was in excellent condition, but no refreshment available.
A Great Golf Experience
A great course offering a great golf experience. I recommend it.
Great golf
Wide farways, lots of houses but not in play. Somewhat easy course, but tough greens. Will return soon !
Huge fairways and fast greens
The course was in great shape and with some of the widest fairways anywhere makes it very playable. The greens were large and ran very smoothly and quite fast.
Worth playing
Course was in great shape, greens are challenging we throughlyenjoyed the course
Excellent In Every Way
There is nothing beside my score that I can criticize. The grass was green and trimmed expertly, there were no soft areas...everything was as it should be. My wife complained that the differential between the blue and red tees was insignificant, and she was correct. However, the whites, ahead of the reds made it more equitable.
I will certainly return.
Forgiving Course-tale of two nines
I enjoyed this course for the nice conditions and its forgiving nature. Very wide fairways/rough (for a desert course) with plenty of margin for error. Greens rolled nice and true with fair speed. Front 9 has 4 par 3's and the back has 2. They make up the distance (for the unusual number of Par 3's) on the back 9 with 2-3 400+ yard par 4's. Set in a retirement community...never saw so many personal customized golf carts in all my day. FYI-No bevvie cart and 9th/10th hole is no where near the clubhouse. Go Play!
A very gorgeous golf course
It was an absolute privilege to play this fabulous golf course. Smooth fairways. Trimmed right to the edges of the beautiful homes that line the fairways. The entire course was landscaped to force you to take many pictures especially with the mountain views in the background. The greens were excellent and rolled true.. My son had 3 birdies and 6 pars on the front nine that we were able to play due to the slow play.
You'll love this course!
The fairways and greens were in immaculate condition. You can tell the members look after their course here.
The greens have enough slope change to challenge the best of putters. Bunkers and water are strategically placed so that all handicaps must work their shots to best manage the course.
Car Path Only Not Good
I reseaarched all courses in Palm Desert before making the tee time online. Many are "Car Path Only" but this course did not have a NOTE when I made a tee time. It was a very dissapointed round. 3 of us had to take several clubs for the fairwasy shots as many golfers know. It took us 5.5 hours to complete 18-holes as the foursome in front of us were not ready for the Carpath Only situation.
The course condition was very good. We always don't care the guy awaits the golfers at the last hole car path to just wipe the clubs. We wished we have known the Carpath Only Rule before the day of play as we don't like it.
Great time
The Course was beautiful. The greens were fast. Great time can't wait to play there again.
very enjoyable
Fun course. Hit your targets & get rewarded. Miss & well trouble is a plenty. Lots of undulations to the greens. Made to focused putting.
