Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club
About
Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club offers a championship course where you can enjoy a private and secluded setting free of homes anywhere near the fairways, tees, or greens. Donald Ross originally designed the golf course in 1924. It has a classic layout that has withstood the test of time to become one of the area's most popular public courses. Seasoned golfers will find that the course is not the most challenging but it is good for a casual round that will still keep you on your toes. The course is tight, requiring a fair amount of accuracy. There are not many hazards but there are some and they are very strategically placed. The layout is player friendly enough to accommodate a range of skill levels and the affordable rates make Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club doubly appealing.

Not worth the money
Greens in very very poor condition...Ok if you pay $20.00 but not $40.00 something
Good old municipal course close to the beach
Once again, Hollywood delivered. The staff here are ALWAYS very pleasant and helpful and the course was in good shape despite a limited number of course maintenance employees.
This is a great old (1924) Ross course which is a test because of its small greens and strategically placed bunkers and ponds. To score well here, it’s best of you Approach shots are really important
Course aesthetics were a bit compromised as debris from several large hurricane-damaged trees have yet to be removed. Additionally, the reeds and marshes have been stripped from the ponds (probably to speed-up play) thereby causing the water hazards to lose visual character..
Pace of play on a late Saturday morning was good (4 hr. ) .
Currently, golf course has limited amenities ( no driving range/ small putting green.) Furthermore, the on-course hotel and restaurant are being demolished. They have a mobile trailer which has a limited selection of foods but who goes to the golf course to eat ?
Thank you,, Hollywood staff, for always being so accomodating,
They let people play as twosomes. Some trees down from last fall storm. Fun inexpensive track.
Good value for the money
We paid a good price with golf now but unfortunately the time between holes was too long. 4h45 to play the round.
Demolition
Club house under demolition.
Course in bad condition
Water hole without red sticks
Sand traps need to be filled up
Only good thing was 3 hour pace.
Great experience
First let me say the staff is here is extremely friendly , Dave the starter was super nice and the local pro Joshua intoduced himself and we talked golf for a few minutes. The course itself is in really good condition and would recommend it to everyone. I will definitely be coming back!
Could be a great course, but not well maintained.
The tee boxes and greens were in rough, rough shape! You know you are in trouble when the main bathrooms are out and there is a portable bathroom out front. The resort appears to be under construction. Some funds ought to go to better course maintenance. Course is long and challenging, but would be more enjoyable and worth the price if better maintained.
Donald Ross would roll over in his grave
I’m sure this was NOT what Donald Ross thought the course would be at some point in time!
Grass on tee boxes was fair on the best of them, much worse most times. Greens in the front were spotty, very sandy, and FULL of weeds- unputtanle if in one of those areas! The back side greens were MUCH better! Fairways were inconsistent, and not much different than the rough.
Lots of huge tree stumps lying all overthe course- maybe hurricane damage? No way to know, but it sure didn’t add to the views. The fence that encircled the course was in bad shape in several places.
The hotel onsite is closed ( condemned the bag boy said) is under renovation. Perhaps when they get that taken care of they will focus on getting the golf course back in shape.
Lots of nature on the course, many birds, including Egyptian Geese and iguanas- several coven of them, some up to 3 or 4 feet long! One tree had a couple dozen of them in it!
The course was great, greens fast.
I really enjoy playing Hollywood Beach Golf and Resort. The staff very friendly and just a great course to play. I will consider it my home course and look forward to many rounds there. The beverage cart person was super, great attitude overall.
Good location and average course condition.
This club located downtown of Miami and provide reasonable price with average course condition.
Some course is near the road, be careful for shot direction^^
Great Value , very friendly staff, sneaky-tough layout,
Positives
Good pace of play ( 4 hrs. for a 4 some)
Very friendly staff
Location ( downtown Hollywood, east of US 1)
Good place to " hit the ball" and not necessarily be concerned about score
No houses / developments " on " golf course
Designer Ross sure knew how to make a 6,000 yd course challenging
Interesting wildlife
Negatives:
Bumpy greens ( not rolled recently? )
Parts of some fairways were bare
Some trees/ limbs reman from Hurricane Irma 3 mos. ago
Sand traps hard, unkempt
Fun to play
The course will be fine when the greens have improved dut to Irma. Otherwise many challenging holes to play.
