Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club
About
Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club offers a championship course where you can enjoy a private and secluded setting free of homes anywhere near the fairways, tees, or greens. Donald Ross originally designed the golf course in 1924. It has a classic layout that has withstood the test of time to become one of the area's most popular public courses. Seasoned golfers will find that the course is not the most challenging but it is good for a casual round that will still keep you on your toes. The course is tight, requiring a fair amount of accuracy. There are not many hazards but there are some and they are very strategically placed. The layout is player friendly enough to accommodate a range of skill levels and the affordable rates make Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club doubly appealing.

A pleasant round
An enjoyable round of golf. Staff was extremely accommodating. Course in very good shape
Fun Course
Always love to play at Hollywood Beach. The flora and fauna are always a treat.
Spring Break Bust
Played this course while visiting the area on vacation. Very overrated. The course top dressed all of the greens with sand the morning we played and didn't brush them off until after we had finished our round. Therefore we had to putt through the sand the entire round. The greens looked nice, but couldn't really tell due to the sand. The course layout was nothing special. You're typical run-of-the-mill Florida munny layout. Not worth the price we paid to play the course. Would've been nice if the course gave us a price break due to the maintenance of the greens the morning we played. On a positive note, the pace of play was great. Our foursome finished the round in 3 hours.
Poor conditioning
This old Donald Ross track has never been in real good condition over past 5 years (at least), but it's particularly sad right now. Greens weedy and bumpy, fairways thin. Too bad, because it's an interesting layout.
Greens and fairways need help!
Although the staff was excellent the course conditions were not. Dry, sparse fairways lead to bumpy and sometimes weed ridden greens. Pace of play was ok but until the conditions improve, there is better value elsewhere.
Decent layout, good value.
I played this course on vacation during spring break. That it is a Donald Ross design made it more interesting. Layout is pretty straightforward. Very little water on the course, some meandering streams. Played from the white tees and there were some longer holes on the back nine that made it a challenge. Greens are mostly elevated and not that fast. If you are looking for a course to get the rust out, this is lot of value for the money. I teed off at 8am and the course was pretty quiet. The staff was very friendly...the starter gave me a yardage book since it was my first time. No driving range. They have a beverage cart and a food shack at the turn. I used a cart, but the course is very walkable though I don't know if that is an option. Didn't see any pullcarts.
I would play this course again.
The reason I would play this course was the pace of play was great. A few minute shy of 3 hours. The greens were in good shape and the course was OK. But I would definitely play again due to the fast play if you want to get a round in quickly.
Another Donald Ross outstanding Layout
Several obstacles face every competitor on the Hollywood beach golf course developed by Donald Ross. They include creeks, ponds, moguls, bunkers, and banyan trees that line fairways.
Although the course proved difficult yesterday, I enjoyed it enough to play it again today!
I understand that the greens and fairways are in for renovation, the likes of which Donald Ross would be proud.
I'd recommend this course to every golf enthusiast. I'm hopeful to return to Hollywood, Florida again next March to check on the status of the Hollywood Beach golf course.
nice day
This course was at best average. The course needs a lot of TLC!! Weeds every where on the course. The best thing was the great day and the foursome I got paired with great fun!!!!
Dry
The course either hadn't seen rain in a few months, or did not have a sprinkler system, or both... but the fairways were so dried out that you were hitting off of dirt, and almost preferred to be in the rough. BIG PLUS is that there is a hotdog stand at the turn.
Best kept secret in Hollywood
For the money and location, this is a nice course with some challenging holes.
1st time, probably last time
Staff was incredibly friendly and courteous. Starter seemed a bit flustered as i believe they overbooked the day. It was a bit disorganized and they didn't have enough carts for everyone. Needless to say we weren't able to complete our round. Course conditions were average at best and most of the tee boxes needed repair. There were many dry spots on the greens as well as crab grass growing in many areas. They also were a bit undermanucured which made putting a little confusing.
I don't think i'll be returning and will look elsewhere to play.
Nothing nice
The fairways were like pastures.
The greens had over dressing and no one informed us before purchasing green fees.
Definitely a Canadian establishment with Attitude to go with it.
Alexa the cart attendant is the only reason to go back.
Good course
My first time at this course. Comes was in good shape, but mot excellent. Staff was very accommodating. Customers were very relaxed and patient when you're a little off line. The course had a shop, restaurant/ bar and a resort attached although I didnt visit. I would play there again.
