Legends Golf & Country Club

We played Legends at least ten years ago, long before the closure of the course and not since it reopened after the rebuilding. We both have to say…BRAVO!!! We live in the Plantation of Leesburg and Otter Creek is closed for renovations and Cranes Roost is trying really hard to get back into shape. We chose to play Legends today after hearing that it was in great shape. The greeters in the parking lot were great. We did not go into the club house as the greeter just sent us to the first tee. I putted for a few minutes to get a feel for the greens and I told my wife that if this was what we were going to see on the course we would be thrilled. At the suggestion of the starter we waited until the group in front of us cleared the green and off we went. From the very first tee we were impressed with the conditions. Every green and every fairway was perfect. Every one. The watering on one hole (#2?) left a wet area in a low spot next to the green, but that was the only indication of water issues. I remember some of the holes, but for the most part it was like playing a new course for us.

The only negative we might bring up is the rough. It was kind of sparse in spots but then again golfers are supposed to avoid the rough as they might find a bad lie. Huh.

As we hit out approach shots on 18 we heard the thunder as a storm approached so we finished up and left without going inside. We would have liked to to offer our praises. Our friends from Great Britain will be here soon and we always get together to play golf while they are here. We are pretty sure Legends will be on our short list of suggested courses.

Greens were fast and pure, fairways were a joy to hit from when I found them, tee boxes were great only minor complaint was the rough was spotty and bare in patches but overall kudos to the team! Course is in great shape for the summer conditions and the pace of play on a Sunday morning was 3:50….can’t beat it.

This course was amazing loved it. The greens and fairways were good to tell apart. Fairways were beautiful beautiful and the greens rolled true. Got to play this course if your out in Clermont

Great track brought back from a goat track. Team has done a great job bringing the course up to par. Love the layout and play it as often as I can. Highly recommend it.

After bragging about, and planning, a return trip to the new look Legends, I have to say it was quite disappointing. Brought 3 of my close friends who hadn't played the course and really bragged it up for days leading up to it. From high atop the first tee everyone was super excited but once we got down to the course itself we all felt very disappointed. Now, granted if you're a very good golfer who goes from tee to fairway to green you would have a different perspective than us somewhat flawed golfers. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all live up to the reviews. The problem came from the very sub-par rough when you missed the fairways. Large clumps of weeds and a whole lot of bare spots made you pay for anything removed from the fairway. The carts took a beating driving thru these areas and we had to search for some kind of grass to move the ball to in that rough just so we had some kind of shot. An 1:45 minute ride and $40 could have, and has been ,put to better use on some of the other courses not far from this one. I still have a couple of friends who couldn't make it but will steer them somewhere else when the time comes. So much anticipation which led to so much disappointment. Will find, as should you, somewhere else to put down your hard earned cash. Sorry about the less than sterling review but this was our take on it.

Greens were true, fairways good. Staff was friendly and they gave ice and water which we have not had before. Would play again
