Chestatee Golf Club

When we drove up we knew something was going on. Was disappointed when we were told they would soon shut down for 6 months for renovations. So you know they were not doing any upkeep like they normally would be. Im sure after renovations rates will go up. I wish GolfNow would make players aware of these type situations before making tee times.

Went as single and starter got me in with a group of regulars and had a great time. This is February so course was as well as can be expected when dormant. Cart path had a number of repaired / replaced sections which is a good reflection on the management. Bunkers were inconsistent some fine others with pebbles and large rocks.

The course has the potential to be a premium course but it has been neglected over the years. I was told they have a competed renovation of the course planned for 2024. They did get new sharp golf carts and great GPS but the price point for the current condition is over priced 100.00 for winter golf.

I must say the starter and marshall where great probably the best I've seen I've the years. The bunkers have too many rocks in them. The pace was okay besides we had a 3 some that was extremely slow. One additional suggestion get the cart girl a better cart, step up the technology to pay and add one more, we only saw her 1x.

Despite the cool weather, very enjoyable round. Loved the new golf carts with GPS.

Chestatee is a great course, and I always refer to it as a "hidden gem" because it's off the beaten path, is always in great condition, very reasonably priced, and the staff is super friendly. On this particular day, my twosome was paired with another twosome (nice guys), but one of the guys in the other twosome was really slow. Our gentle reminders to him to "suck fast" (which is our mantra) didn't help, and it became apparent on the back 9 that we were holding up the course (sorry staff!) That said, the nudge from the ranger (just doing his job!) was done with kindness and a smile... much appreciated... and we did start to pick up the pace a little. I mention this anecdote only to outline how great the staff is at Chestatee!

Luv the layout. Even though it rained like 4-5” over a couple days, conditions weren’t near as bad as other courses after big rain.

Greens were smooth rolling. Still need folks to repair ball marks but nowhere near as bad as other courses I’ve played

Can’t wait to go back when everything is green; really spectacular views.

Overpriced course greens are never good not worth the money.

I had an enjoyable day at Chestatee. The course was in much better shape than I was expecting for a mid December round and the staff was super friendly. I would absolutely recommend playing here and will be back to play again soon.

Considering the conditions of very very wet, course was playable and draining fast and preferred lies don’t go wrong
