Chestatee Golf Club

We played on a Monday in the middle of the day, so that may be why we got such a good deal. Real nice layout. Staff was good. They were starting to sand the greens, but that only impacted us on the last couple of holes. I will definitely play here again, even if I have to pay more next time.

Course in Great shape and the pace of play was excellent!!

--I played Chestatee after work with a buddy of mine. We found a good rate on GolfNow and enjoyed the nice weather and nice/not-so-nice golf shots.

--Pros: Friendly pro shop staff, nice carts, free range balls, nice greens, and a good mix of challenging holes.

--Cons: Sub-par driving range, club/ball cleaners not kept up on carts, and the bunkers could be in much better shape.

Overall a fun time!

The course is moderately challenging with generous fairways, nice bent grass greens and some mountain scenery. Many bunkers need reconditioning and/or repair. The weather was hot so the bent green were a bit slow by necessity. The greens were otherwise well groomed and smooth. A very enjoyable course with some challenging holes. Chetatee could easily be a 4-star course with some bunker maintenance. Note: I rate golf courses on an absolute scale using the following guidelines:

5 stars - Top tier golf course, all amenities, outstanding service/management and excellent course maintenance.

4 stars - Good to great course layout, complete club experience (full practice facilities, locker room, grill, etc...), efficient service/management, very good course maintenance.

3 stars - Good course layout, average practice facilities, average service/management, average course maintenance. No pace of play problems.

2 stars - Nothing special, but an enjoyable course to play. Only minor issues with pace of play.

1 star - Not worth the effort or serious pace of play issues. I take pace of play very seriously.

A 5-hour round is a minimum two-star reduction.

Golf carts are pimp club cars with a rain cover, ball and club washer, divot repair sand, tees loaded in cart, towels and very comfy seats! Layout is pretty challenging with a moderately long yardage and a blend of uphill/downhill holes.

Greens were in pretty god shape ( medium-fast) with great slope and curve. Sand traps weren't in good condition, but we had some seriously heavy rains the previous days before I played them.

The practice tee is good as well with a chipping green, good putting green, and a range down next to hole one (range ball included with any round also!)

I do love the course and have played here a few dozen times the last 15 yrs. They have amazingly affordable twilight rates as well....no one is ever on the course late in the day or early evenings. I have many times played 2 balls in regulation and made it to hole 16 before dark. A great value and awesome time to really practice while you're out playing a round. And for 25-32$ its well worth it!!

The course was in great shape. Staff was friendly. We got there early to hit a few balls at the range(no charge for balls) and the ranger/starter let us tee off about 30 mins early to get the round started sooner. Green and fairways were in great shape. Can not say anything bad about this course. Got a great 'Hot Deal' on Golf Now for the round. Will definitely play again!!

Played golf yesterday at chestatee with my daughter and we had a great day! Course is in good condition . We're planning to go back and play golf again!

Course is beautiful. Greens and fairways are in good shape, but the sand traps are horrible. Many had standing water, and almost all were thin and in poor condition. The sand traps are the only detraction from this course.

My favorite course to play in my area . I love that all the range balls you care to hit are included.

Played in a twosome which may have been the issue. But threesome of lady's in front of us that were very slow. To top it off on hole 9 they became 5 with a teaching pro joined them and that hole alone took 20 mins. Back nine was very enjoyable. Greens are great, sand traps are being redone and some tee boxs need some tlc but overall great layout from tips, will play again.

Very nice course. Greens were in great shape. Overall course in very good shape. Challenging but very playable for average golfer. We played on a weekday and didn't expect as many groups as we encountered. Play was slow, but course was so beautiful it didn't matter. Hope to play it again soon.

Yes, it's all good at Chestatee. We were playing on a Hot Deal, so the value was certainly excellent. Regardless of that fact the course is a good value for such a nice course. I would have given the course a 5 star except that the bunkers need attention. It was like playing off a dirt tight lie, in some not all, of the bunkers. But, I saw a bunch of sand that appeared to be headed for the bunkers that needed it. The staff is always friendly and treats Hot Dealers like regular members. Another fine Denis Griffiths design.

The golf course itself was well maintained. The greens rolled true. Everything was great!! The recent rains left the traps in need of a good greenskeepers' touch. I truly enjoyed it!!

Chestatee is one of my favorite designs. Every hole is different, and there is plenty of room. Large fairways and greens. Very friendly staff Excellent practice area, range balls are included.

The conditions vary each time I play. The course had just been aerated, so the greens were slow. That's understandable. The bunkers were awful. I lost a new ball in one bunker on No. 10 because it was full of water. On No. 9, there was a white line around the green side bunker because it was under repair. None of the bunkers were raked, so it was tough to get underneath the ball and spin it.

The course was good for the time of the year. Expected to be a little rough here and there so it didn't shock me. The greens were still fast amid some bad spots. The only problem was the pace of play. It was a lot of waiting and it was almost a 5 hour round. I always believe that the rates/fees should match the condition of the course and I'm pretty sure that this course was at subpar conditions. Other than that, I had a great time with the twosome I played with.
