Swiss Fairways Golf Course
About
Located just west of downtown Orlando in Clermont, Swiss Fairways Golf Course utilizes the wide open and hilly terrain that is typical for that area, but uncommon throughout the rest of the state. Large greens welcome low handicappers while strategic bunkering is incorporated into the layout to add some challenge. There are over a hundred sand traps in total and 10 water hazards come into play. Swiss Fairways Golf Course has a relaxed, casual atmosphere that is far from the typical country club environment. Although it is relatively unknown, the Swiss Fairways Golf Course will most likely grow in popularity due to its affordable rates and interesting layout.

204 yard (blue tee) Par three third hole Photo submitted by Edpro on 07/08/2013
Not bad for the price
Being only 9 holes the course gets boring after a few times.
Good beginner course
It's not the best course in the area, but it plays well and is really good for the money. I have played this course several times, and it does have some challenging holes.
Lovely course with massive potential.
The course is one of the prettiest in area, trees, water, wild life...and water skiers!
The cost was lowish...compared to others in area. The course has massive potential but needs work. The tees were ok. Fairways very mixed, some grass and some in decent condition and some in poor condition (mainly weeds). Same goes for the greens...very mixed. The bunkers were in very poor condition...and lots of them!.
Bunkers are costly to maintain...so lose some...grass them over. Also no rakes provided.
Good for beginners
If you're a beginner, good course to learn on. No rakes for sand traps, no amenities so be prepared. Views are great, neat to see the water skying too.
Never should have closed the back 9
Been playing this course for at least 10 years now. Seen them go through countless owners, and course changes. The most recent owners decision to close the back 9 was the worst yet. This course is not worth playing anymore in my opinion. Maintenance is almost non existent. The cup on hole 8 was overgrown, and looked like it hadn't been changed in at least 2 weeks. Upon finishing our first 9, we headed back to hole 1 to be greeted with 5 groups ahead of us waiting to tee off, as the 18 hole rate forces you to play the front 9 twice, mixing you in with everybody just getting to the course. After waiting about 15 minutes at the first tee and seeing almost no progress on groups moving up, we decided to give up and head home. This course used to be a hidden gem, but unfortunately I'd say it is the last time I will be spending my money here until some serious overhaul is done on the course.
Nice Staff crappy course
The carts are nice and course is easy to navigate but it is a hack course even at a discounted price.
.
Enjoyable 9 hole course
Enjoyed playing the 9 holes twice being an out of towner. Pace of play was great. The starter gave us great advice about the 2nd hole waiting for the water skiers. Nice layout for a golf course. Bunkers need rakes is the only issue.
Rude owner
I have never been treated so rudely by a course owner. He really doesn't want Golf Now players! Had a 12:46 tee time got there early and were told we couldn't't go out till 5 minutes before our tee time. No one ahead of us on tee box but OK we wait. Supposed to have another 2 golfers with the same tee time. Another couple came out but said their tee time wasn't until 12:54. So finally we teed off. Owner had cart person come and tell us we couldn't tee off yet had to wait for the other 2 Golf Now players. Said our tee time wasn't until 1:02 ( not true had my confirmation on my phone). No one else ever came out so finally the 12:54 tee time joined us and we started to play. No water on course or drink cart. Course also not in very good shape.
Swiss fairways
you have to play the same nine holes twice, but the tees are set really far apart so you can play different tee boxes the second time around and it really does challenge you. The fairways greens and tees are very bright and green and full and the scenery is great!
Barely holding itself together
I don’t know how long it’s been run down like this, but it’s not fun at all. None of the bunkers have rakes, the range is the worst condition I’ve seen a range be and the course isn’t too far off from the range. Wouldn’t recommend unless they change their price to $10 a round being you play the same 9 holes twice. It’s like they’ve given up on the course
Healthy ride from Orlando, thought it was out in the boonies! Good course, well worth the trip and money. Upon leaving, and heading in a different direction back found it wasn't as far from civilization as I thought! They should be booming with players!
Out of the way, interesting, needs a little extra, but really close
After the weather forecast had said the day was going to be a washout, I was looking for a course to play on short notice. There are a lot of them in the area, if you're willing to plop down snowbird/spring break season money (and yes, our gas prices went up by 30 cents per gallon so we could put the squeeze on the spring break crowd). Being pretty out of the way, this course stayed under $40.
It's a fun layout, but...doesn't really offer the opportunity to pick tees of appropriate length the way they are doing things. I was told the front was Gold, and the back was White for a 5500 yard course (a little short, but not bad for me being an older/shorter hitter). The Gold version of the second hole played 145, all of it carry over water. I can play that. On the White side it was 175. I was 2 or 3 yards short (and not even a bright green ball will ever be seen again in this water). For a lot of older guys the only club that will carry this is going to be a driver. The skiers in the water are an added distraction. My only other issue with the course was the lack of rakes for the bunkers. I know most folks don't rake bunkers, but, when I'm in one, I try to rake mine and someone else's, so having no rake at all was frustrating.
It's a fun course, and better kept than I feared (the tee boxes are in much better shape than other courses at this price point in the area). Only number 2 and number 9 are a bit "tricked" up (9 has a huge live oak that basically blocks the approach to the green below 90 feet).
I would play here again if it weren't an hour from the house...during other seasons, there are just too many courses to drive past.
Not Bad
The last time I played this course was over 20 years ago. I was interested in seeing its condition after these years. For the price, it was a great experience. This is a 9 holes course that you play it twice from a different tee, this made it interesting and felt like you are playing different holes the second time around. The greens were fuzzy, it seemed that they did not cut it that day, it was difficult to get used to it. The experience was not bad. The course has its charm with the ski school and their practice activity. I will not invite my friends to play there, the course is 23 miles away from my house and I am the closest to it by 25 miles, but I do not mind going there again if I am playing by myself and looking for something different at a good price. I had fun playing there even though I did not score well.
