Inspired by the backdrop of the Manatee River, Ted McAnlis has created the ultimate golf experience with the perfect combination of beauty and challenge. Waterlefe Golf & River Club is built along a particularly beautiful section of the Manatee River, complete with wide expanses of pristine marshes and pleasant coves. Don't be surprised if on the 15th tee you spot a family of manatees poking noses up for a breath of air. The golf course was designed with a great deal of time, effort and expense going toward protecting and resorting the natural environment that gives the course it unique character. The gently sloped greens with the newest Tifteagle Bermuda offer the ultimate in putting. From a lazy start on the par-5 first hole to the big finish on the 18th hole island green, golfers love Waterlefe Golf & River Club!

Bring your A-game or lots of balls
The first time I played this course about 15 years ago I lost 14 balls and vowed never to play it again and hence the well deserved name of "Water-grief". The second time I played it 4 years ago I shot a 90, I was not at my best this trip but walked away with a 98 which I was happy with as I blew a couple of holes. The most frustrating thing on the course is that you can hit the fairways but the edges are steep and your ball seems to find a way to roll in to the water. The course is in immaculate condition and landscaping and scenery is beautiful. I think if you play this course enough times you learn how to play strategically as it is a very tough course. For those who don't shoot below 94 on a regular course, perhaps you should skip this course as it can completely turn you off from golfing

Enjoyable round
I really liked the course. I tend to be a bit wayward off the tee but this course on most holes gives plenty of room. Greens were good, a little slower than they looked. Fairways in better condition than the greens of my home club in belgium ( sad but true) . There was plenty ofvariety in the holes, good cart with gps, nice clubhouse. I thought the price was ok but I am used to paying european prices so locals may not agree

Grenns were slow and fairways were tightly cut. Overall, the course was in good condition and would play there again!

This course has great features
You have to be a thinking man to play this course. You just can’t grip it and rip it. The second time around Will give a much better feel on course management.

Three hour front nine
Front nine took three hours. Staff refused to do anything about it and even let another group on in front of us at the turn. I want my money back.

Three hour first nine?
Very nice course, but the management is highly lacking. First nine took three hours with no ranger present. Called the clubhouse to complain they did nothing, other than let another group go out in front of us at the turn. Absolutely ridiculous. Give me my money back!!!

Six and a half hour round
Got through the first 9 in 3 hours and they allowed a member group to join in front of us. Walked off the course. Unacceptable treatment of people actually paying while not having rangers out enforcing pace of play. Give me my money back.
