Sarasota National Golf Club

This course is always one we look forward to playing while we are on vacation in the Sarasota area. The combination of a quality, well-maintained course and the wildlife you get to see while playing is hard to beat. The greens are firm and quick, and the rough was much more tightly cut than when we played the course last July. The staff and amenities are top notch. We finished our round in just over 4 hours. It was a busy Saturday, but the pace of play never really lagged. All in all, it's a great course, and we will definitely be going back next year.

As usual this TROON managed property was in great shape and a pleasure to play.

Immaculate and fast greens! A little windy in the middle of the day. Pace of play, given the speed of the greens and the wind was good.

Course astectics continue to improve with new shrubs and flowers. Cant wait to play again.

I played for the first time and it was a awesome experience. The greens rolled very true and they held when you hit a shot into the green. Had some challenging holes here. Very fair with the wide fairways. Have to place the ball in the right spot to have the best chance at birdie or you will be making bogey maybe worse. Wind does play a factor when its blowing. Will be back to play again.

Hi guys, hope you've had a good week and earned a few quid. 'Bloody good shot sir!' was the call of the day on this course. A simply splendid course that has plenty in the tank sir! Green surfaces were lovely, lovely. One of our group leaked a few, was struggling and was a squirter but the ample fairways kept him dry sir. Left and right, left and right but he still made a score. Highly recommended!

Fairways are wide but greens are tough. Bring your best putting game.

Had a good experience but expected a more challenging course. Very open layout and an awful lot of scrub/unlandscaped areas. Good course for under $40, but would have been very disappointed when rate was $95 two weeks ago.

Love this track. Wide open but the courses' defenses are the tough undulated greens, the bunkering, and the wind which can really blow across this links style layout.

Really like playing here. I play it occasionally. Bit expensive compared to other courses in the area but given the quality quite fair. Playing in the afternoon is more cost effective and the mid afternoon breezes usually kick in and tame the Florida heat.

Tough putting but excellent overall condition. Great staff.

Our group had a very good experience playing Sarasota National. The course offers generous fairways off the tee with challenging approaches into fast, undulating greens. It is a fun layout with options as to how to challenge certain holes . . . great for match play. We had some concerns from other reviewers about pace of play but finished in about 4 hours and 15 minutes. Greens were fast but fair. We will play it again.

SN is a great layout and in great condition. Certainly one of the best public courses in the area. No fault of theirs' but the course is constantly windy. It is by far the most consistently windy course I've played in SW Florida and I play a lot. Check out the flag in the GN picture. It is being blown stiff. For this reason alone I would never be a member. Once or twice a year is fine. Not sure if there is a cure - maybe once more homes are built or trees mature there will be more protection from the wind.

Only downside for me is it is a bit out of my price range.

I though this course was way to big, reminded me of Arizona golf except with wind and a great amount of water with forced carries. It is links style golf and wide open. There was no direction from hole to hole. I was lost most of the day. It isn't very "golfer" friendly especially for out of towners who don't know the course. Could not wait to leave this course. The only thing missing here was the clowns mouth!

Greens and fairways were good.

They had a really good driving range, with no fee's for your driving range balls.

Great course design, forgiving fairways, approach to greens even things up , greens are undulating and tiered and roll very nice, We played from the silver tees because I'm a 13 handicap, usually windy which makes even more of a challenge, one of my favorite courses, several holes are signature holes#7 and #18 greens are on a peninsula surrounded by water I will return

Everything about this course is wonderful. Have played it 4 years now while on golf vacation. It is the first course we book! You will not be disappointed!

On vacation from western NY. Golf in Florida is different. The grass is different, the greens are very fast and straight, and there are very few trees to watch out for. There also are plenty of sand traps. This course was in nice condition. I have no complaints.
