Great link-style course with lots of character
Course is in very good shape, especially the greens. They are so uniform they seem almost synthetic. Course is also quite challenging and requires you to think constantly. Add a little wind and it becomes a very formidable test of golf.
Fun Course, Looks Great
This was my first time playing at Sarasota National. Fairways were generously wide and in very good condition. Greens were smooth...pin placements did not yield too many straight putts. Lots of birds (not birdies) to be seen on the property and the occasional gator or two (not in play). This is a really good looking course that's fun to play...will definitely play it again.
Slow greens
Staff said greens rolled 11-11.5. Not even close! Very disappointed. Fairways to wide open no character. Overall a few really good golf holes.
Ample fairways.
Fun and forgiving fairways with greens that have many challenges. Not a course you could walk.
excellent greens
course has generous fairways with receptive greens. course is in excellent shape.
Awesome site
Generous fairways but do your best to get on or very close to the green. Heavy gnarly grass is tricky around the greens.
Great golf value
Treat yourself to a round before it turns into a private course.
Fast greens
The course is actually in Venice. It is amazing how large the whole course is, it takes quite a while to travel from green to the next tee. But this is great because you basically never interfere with other golfers. The layout is nice and the greens were in perfect condition. Very nice experience!
This course gets better each year
This course must be the best value golf in Venice. Good quality layout, challenging fast greens and a good service.
Great greens
Average Florida course that travelers can play. Theses were the best greens by far of any Florida course I've played in 10 years. Average layout out but good value for the money.
Excellent value for this caliber course.
This is a "ride-only" course but the community is minimally built so there are no houses in play. Fairways are nice and greens are large, undulating and fast. Have Fun!
Must play if you live in the area or visiting.
I was visiting from the E. Coast of Fla. and this is the second time I played it. The course is in PGA tournament condition. The only thing lacking is a restaurant to grab lunch after the round, which coinsidently they are building
This course is top notch!!
Talk about WIND!!! It was so windy it was hard to steady ourselves even on the tee box. The putting greens are so smooth and fast that the wind was trying to push the ball - we're amateurs - forget any ball in motion rule. We need to go back on a calm day. We all loved the course. Don't go there expecting lunch. The restaurant is not open yet but is in the process of being built.
a fun course
Well kept. Very nice. Staff excellent. Very satisfied
Beautiful challenging course
Great Golf course, wide fairways, challenging holes and pin placement. The greens are exceptional and the fairways well maintained.
Good Course
Enjoyed the course. Some very difficult holes but some easier ones to get it back. Will play again.
Fun & challenging, but not too much so...
I have played Sarasota National quite a few times and everyone I've taken there says they want to play it again. The course is fun and challenging, but not punitive if you don't hit your shots wildly right or left. The fairways are wide but the greens are large and many have undulations. Pack a lunch; the only food service for the place has is cold pre-made sandwiches from a refrigerator though there is beverage service on the course.
tricky greens
Great course for all standards of golf, although positions of flags when we played were very tough.
Like the changes from last year I.e.they have cut back a lot of bushes and shrubs. So you can see where you are going :/.
Definitely worth a visit.
Gem of a course - wide fairways/fast greens
The course was in great shape and the greens were fast and
true. The fairways are very wide. A great course to play if your rusty and haven't played in months. I played the gold tees and shot 77 on Sat and played the silver tees on Sun and shot 76. The gold's I hit more long irons and Hybrids and the silver tees I hit more mid to short irons into the greens. I always hit my driver on all par 4's & 5's. It was definitely a great course for a tune up.
