Sarasota National Golf Club

Played with an established threesome. They were very nice people. The course was somewhat windy that day and it seemed that the pins were in extremely difficult positions. Front pins on downwind holes and back pins on wind in your face holes. Add that to pins on the edge of major mounds, play was slowed down. Course watcher made us let through a twosome and a single behind us saying that they were better golfers. When going through, they had more issues than us.

We booked for three and pro shop added a single. There was no none in sight when we teed off, but a threesome was pushing us on the first green. After a few holes we let them through at the Marshall's request; they were average players. We subsequently let a twosome through on seven. On nine the Marshall approached us again to let a foursome through, suggesting they were better players; one of our four is a two-handicapper and was angry. We kept ahead of that four on all holes on the back nine, except for the par 3 seventeenth. Despite two delays we finished in under 4.5 hours.

This is a wonderful well maintained golf course. The only thing I would say that should be changed is the sand in the traps. It is NOT the correct sand because it cannot be raked to a consultant smooth surface and the ball is frequently buried. This is an unfair condition.

This course will probably be surrounded by houses, which will be a shame. The stark landscape and breezy conditions make it quite a challenge. Plenty of room in landing areas and it probably looks more intimidating than it is. And, as always, Troon Golf runs a first-class operation.

Sarasota National is a great course!! 20mph winds made it identical to playing in Scotland. Staff is friendly & professional.

Bash the ball there is not much trouble until your approach shot. Greens protected by bunkers and 2nd cut of grass is thick. The greens roll great. I do not think I had a flat putt all day.

Played on a Saturday afternoon. Greens, fairways, tee boxes, and rough were in good shape. Elevated greens and lots of bunkers made the course interesting and challenging - unfortunately also making the pace of play pretty slow.

Let me start by saying the course is truly excellent. It is the best course I've played in this area since moving here about six months ago. Facilities are great, staff is tremendous and did I mention that the course is excellent?..... I played the course around 20 times over the past six months and was always impressed by the pace of play. However, now that traffic is picking up, the pace is unbearable. I started at 1pm on a Wednesday and barely finished before sunset around 630. Don't get me wrong, the public is very lucky to be allowed on this course. It would just improve the experience if the course had a Marshall to help move the groups along who spend more time looking for lost balls than actually playing golf.

Great inviting wide fairways. Gentle breezes. 3:45 minutes. That was the best.

Sarasota national is a wonderful course. Excellent condition. Fairways are wide open which makes hitting them and greens on the easier side. However make sure you get close to the flag because these greens are LIGHTNING FAST!!! They are in the process of building a new clubhouse which would be great as food is scarce. Overall another well done course by troon golf. Highly recommended!!!

Fortunately we played with people who played there regularly as there is no signage and no map on the card or at the tee. The course offers a good challenge for all standards. The greens were very testing.

Fun course. 2 of the greens bordered on being like a fun house with impossible pin positions. Staff was very helpful getting people teamed up. course in very good condition.

Mature for it's 6 years. Well manicured. Challenging holes. Friendly, accomodating staff both at pro shop and course... 30M sq ft club house in construciton.

Interesting layout and green complexes. Generous fairways. Played in 4 hours. Pay attention to the grain.

One of my favorite courses in Sarasota. Beautiful condition and setup. Players have access to unlimited practice balls at driving range and chipping area. Greens in great condition along with bunkers, tee boxes and fairways. Wildlife along the course is abundant with sightings of alligators, snakes, fowl and jack-rabbits aplenty. An extremely forgiving course if played from the front few tees and an extremely challenging course from the back. Love this place.

I arrived at the course and was greeted at the bag drop and from then on the day just got better and better. I played with a man and a woman,she played off 14 and we had a great day together. I had not played here for 4 years but the course was 100% better than last time. Full credit to all the course staff and the rest of your staff for making it a great day. Many Thanks Terry

Just sanded greens but they were fast and true. The course was in good shape with a few ground under repair spot but they didn't affect play. Some great risk reward holes for the long ball hitter.
Didn't have the chance to try out the restaurant.
A first for us, we watched a large alligator eat a rather large fish.

Very challenging from the back tees. course plays 7344, and played every bit of it, and then some due to windy conditions. A lazy start with # 1 and 3 being short par 3's that can yield birdies, and # 2 played shorter than the 425 on the card due to being down wind. After that, the course really stretches it's legs. Club house attendant was very courteous in that he let us go ( a twosome ) out in front of two foursomes. That made for a nice, relaxing, enjoyable round. The only set back was that the greens had been punched, but were not too bad. They still rolled very true. Also, upon ending for the day, we drove the cart a short distance into the parking lot and were met by a rude cart attendant. The sign at the front did not mention anything about not pulling the carts into the parking lot. It only said "stop, cart return" He rudely told us we were not supposed to be in the parking lot. When told we would unload our clubs and return, he snapped back that the sign said we were not supposed to be in the parking lot. it's funny how something like that can take away from some of the enjoyment of the day. May consider returning, but would think twice if I pulled up and saw that same attendant. Plenty of other courses in Manatee County and surrounding area that are closer to the house.
