Sarasota National Golf Club

We play Sarasota National EVERY year on vacation. Beautiful layout, generous landing areas on tee shots, but yet plenty of bunkers to avoid. The greens are huge and difficult due to their undulations, but are pristine and roll perfectly. This gem of a course is one I would recommend everyone play.

The greens at Sarasota National were about as good as they can get for being middle of June. Really green, flat , not bumpy and rolled true.The rest of the course was really good too. It was very hot out on course. I liked the fact that no housing developments were around and more of the Florida countryside was in view. I saw bobcat tracks in sand bunkers and even saw a wild pig.

Got behind a very slow foursome - mediocre to very poor golfers who wanted to take lots of time setting up each shot. A real pain to have to wait on each shot!

Highly recommend playing here . Course will be closing for a month for maintance on june14 . So get there now . some holes are far apart

Greens are excellent. A little maintenance needed throughout course but had a lot of rain recently.

Sand traps are poor but good things to come with this course.

I have played this course several times over the past five years. I give the staff there a lot of credit. On next to nothing, they have kept this course running. WCI just purchased it from Troon and good things are coming. The greens are great, the course layout is interesting. Traps need work, same with some of the cart paths and trails. If you play it forward, the course is pretty straight forward. Play it from the blacks and you will have your hands full.

Thank goodness, I did not need to use the outhouses? It was a very good golf day as the course was in very good conditions (notably the greens). A variety of fill in the bunkers whereas consistency would be ideal.

Lots of potential, great layout. Fairways and greens have been kept up with, but everywhere else has not. Good value for around $30.

Played in just under 4. Tight fairways. Great greens. Some very interesting golf holes. Lots of room off tee, then second shots tighten up considerably. Fun course.

I will definately be back to play another 18 holed.

For a young course, it was in great shape! The staff was great. The fairways were in good condition and the tee boxes were well maintained. The greens were some of the best I have played in years. The speed was great and the roll was true. Overall, the round was a fun one.

And then the guy in the pro shop says
You do not have a tee time booked here
Sorry about your luck
He said it must have been an error that I made
The starter said that they were having that problem alll day
So it seemed like the guy in the pro shop.
Was a little unfriendly
Did not want to help us
And it was just an error with the course
We called golf now and got it fixed
But. Arguing with the golf shop for 20 min
Made for a bad day !
Then we get out on the course and it was in very poor shape
The pace of play was very slow
It seamed like the course. Had been very poorly taken care off!

Course was in great condition, fast greens with challenging pin locations, sure to bring out the golfer in anyone. For the money, I would have to say the BEST COURSE for the BEST PRICE! No more flat fairways an slow greens with this great deal

Tee boxes and fairways were great. Need sand in fairway bunkers.

Great course that benefits from the lack of housing (scheduled to be built) giving an 'away from it all' feel. Space off the tee - small tricky greens and a number of challenging dog-legs. A course well worth playing and would recommend wholeheartedly. No real facilities at the clubhouse which is temporary but enough for your round.

Few traps were compacted and difficult to judge. Some with shell or small rock.

All i read about is how fast the greens are and i feel it is a little over exaggerated. I thought the course was beautiful. Ive only been playing a year but from the courses I've experienced it was a little more open and friendly to a missed shot. greens were a little speedy but I played faster greens the week before at port charlotte. It was a beautiful course and i would tell everyone to try it out.
