Golf Club At South Hampton

The greens were an abomination and mostly unplayable.

I've played South Hampton many times when I lived in Jax. I recently came down to Jacksonville to visit old friends of mine and decided to play South Hampton. Very disappointed on how the greens were. Not just one but almost every single green was in very bad shape. So bad that after a while we decided on a 2-putt max. It will be a while before I come back and play here.

Tee boxes are a bit rough but not as bad as the greens are. This course looks like it’s in a perpetual phase of rebuilding lately. Not the course it once was. No where near the price during peek hours for the shape of the course. Hoping it is rehabbed quickly back to the shape it used to be in. I would avoid this course for the cost.

We played this course 4/18. The course is in horrible condition and the greens are even worse. There was nothing online stating the course was being worked on or anything. It was $80 for a round. Complete rip off.

The course is great but the greens were nowhere near the quality to pay $100 for a round.

Tees and fairways were excellent. As is the case in Florida this time of the year greens were in transition. Very uneven and bumpy.

Booked on a hot deal and joined a 3-some that plays there regularly. I was looking forward to playing one of my favorite courses in the area (I've been playing SH for over 15 years) since it has been a while. I was very disappointed on the conditions of most if not all greens. They were bumpy, had bare grass and some were practically impossible to get the ball in, due to the trajectory being drastically shifted by the condition of the greens. I'll come back in September or October to see if there were any improvements made as this track is fun to play.

Reasonably priced, but the greens need more rework. Fairways are in good shape.

Greens are in awful shape- spray painted green and full of sand, not really puttable

Bad golf cart- no brakes- asked for replacement cart- and they never brought one out - dangerous

Lazy golf cart cleaner- asked for replacement cart at the beginning-said that’s all they had

No beverage cart service -

No gps- golf carts are from the 1990s

Will probably not play here again- too bad- with some different management, this would be a great course because the layout is great, quiet and has peaceful surroundings…

These greens were the absolute worst I’ve seen in decades. Seems they are destroyed by fungus. They are so bad that a few holes have only a few options for pin spots as there is no grass anywhere else.

The rest of the course is poorly maintained also. It appears that they are just not spending the needed budget on course maintenance.

Do not pay to play this course until you confirm that they have grass on the greens.

… of the lousy conditions. And they had been lousy for two years before that as noted in the below comments. I joined Stillwater a year ago. It was the best decision I have made in Golf.

I always love the course but the cart girl wasn’t especially pleasant to talk with. A smile and a good attitude speaks volumes of an organization. I’d make sure that the staff is very clear that the golfers are the only reason they have a job.

They have lost their greens and are still charging full price. They are not even telling the public about the damage.

4 hours and 10 minutes to play 13 holes.. Just a horrible experience all the way around including the apathetic response when I told the person in the pro shop.

I was told they are going to change out the greens April 2026. Don't waste your money or time until they are done!!!
