Golf Club At South Hampton

South Hampton used to be one of the best daily fee tracks in the area, but yesterday the course conditions were miserable at best and the once gem of the area is now gone. Staff wasn't helpful with slow play and we didn't see anyone else besides the beverage cart staff, who ran out of ice...the layout is fun, but the green complexes and surrounds are just awful.

Certainly not worth a 5 hour round in the heat.

Fairways in great shape. The greens are recovering after fungus attached them last year. A few bald areas on greens on front 9 but back 9 greens are much better.

From tee boxes, to fairways and greens, SH is a solid 8 out of 10 right now. Do not listen to people complaining (usually the same people), just play the course and see for yourself. Is it perfect? No, but it is in great shape and playing better every week. Hit em straight🏌️

Fun course. The only problem was the back nine. There was a ladies group about 4 groups ahead of us that was exceptionally slow. There was a separation on about 3 holes between the ladies and the group in front of them. Course advisor could not get them to move along. But it was only on the back nine it impacted us and we still played in about 4 hrs.

Minor irritation.

I played this course July 23 , 2025 , I know they have some issues but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is doing a GREAT job getting this course back in shape. From the time I walked onto the practice green until the last shot it was a great day. Staff at check in was very friendly . Course is really coming around. There are still a few spots on a couple of greens but nothing serious given the shape the course was in a year ago. We are definitely putting it back on our schedule. It’s a great layout and a big salute to management for getting it back it has always been one of my favorite courses since moving to Jacksonville. Keep up the good work ! If you left because of course conditions in the past I would highly recommend a second look you will not be disappointed!!

I appreciate Management for the great improvements on the golf course. 90% improvement the greens even though they’re a bit slow are in great condition

I played the three times in the last two weeks. I enjoyed it very much.

Average at best. And the Pro Shop staff are ridiculous. Wanted to charge a full green fee for a rider. Only good if you can get it for under $30.

Course coming back to what you expect at South Hampton. Greens still have some improvement to go but are just about 100%back. Some Tee Boxes still need some work. Fairways are in good shape. Looking forward to my next round her soon!

Fun layout. In solid condition. Always a fun one when nice

Overall good value. Good course layout. Was surprised though when arriving on the 1st tee and and being told that I couldn't have a cart to myself, even though I paid. WHAT?!?!

Several of the greens had portions that were unplayable.

The grounds crew at SH have done a great job bringing it back. The greens were almost filled out and rolled pretty true (just slow while they grow back). Unfortunately the bunkers were filled with water from the morning rain and had not drained, but were fine the day after. We played at $45 and it was well worth that rate!

Front 9 looks good as green are healing well from earlier conditions. Only played front due to weather conditions 🫤

Course was in good shape. A couple of greens recovering around the edges. Rain the previous days led to cart path only on about 9 holes. Staff was great. Got to the 17th green and the rain started pouring down. Course held its own by the amount of rain.

I was impressed so much that I wanted to play again. Unfortunately, the rain got me.

Staff couldn’t be more bothered. Then there was lighting in the area and they couldn’t answer questions about going out or not and rain checks. Just canceled my tee time and said call golf now for refund. Now they can’t verify my tee time because he canceled it. Lost my money. Thanks for nothing all week and yesterday Mitch! You were not helpful.should have just stayed away like I did last few years. Miss the old south Hampton!
