The Golf Club at South Hampton was designed to give every golfer appropriate risk-and-reward opportunities that supply both encouragement to beginners and challenges for more advanced players. The slope and contour of the course’s landscape is its trademark with strategic mounding and over 60 contoured bunkers that emphasize the terrain’s natural undulations. The course features rolling fairways and massive greens. There are also sixteen large lakes that come into play throughout. The signature hole is the tremendous par-5, 17th, which is a scenic hole that features a lake, fairway bunkers, and a breaking green. Although the course is a challenge, there are six sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

Greens Are Horrible

The greens look like they have leprosy. Huge swaths of dead grass that make putting more challenging that miniature golf's obstacles.

The tee boxes are entirely unmarked, short of distance boxes and you have to rely on the cart GPS system, which half works. The carts are constantly stopping you for ponding water on the course.

The pace of play was atrocious with guys in front of us acting like they were playing in the PGA Championship Finals. One guy even laid down to line up his putt.

The course staff was awesome. Nicest folks I've dealt with and they honestly made the day. The cart girl didn't show up until six holes in and she had extremely limited options.

Someone needs to invest some money in this course to make the greens fees worth it.

They are bringing SH back

I haven’t played South Hampton for many months now and I was told by some golfers I played with at another course recently that they’re really doing a good job bringing it back, so I went, and I was pleasantly surprised. Friendliness at the check-in, cool people at the bar, however, one downside was the starter yesterday, he was just downright not nice. 12:51 tee time in 6//8/25. You’re getting the course back SH, don’t blow it with unkind people working as starters🏌️

Bad

Lost greens and charging close to $100 on the weekend, which would be fine if the former wasn’t true.

Pace of play was unbearable. GPS carts allow the clubhouse to monitor pace of play, yet nothing is done to prevent slow play.

Just bad.

Decent Round, But Overpriced for the Conditions

I hadn’t played here in a while due to past negative reviews, but I decided to give it another shot. Overall, the fairways are in good condition for the most part. Some greens do have noticeable bad spots, but it seems the course management has been strategic in placing the holes in the better areas.

That said, when I compare South Hampton to other courses in the area, I feel the green fees should be in the low $40s. The current advertised rate of $60 seems steep for the condition and experience offered.

Course conditions

The fairways were in good shape and the greens have come along way in just a month as most of the bad spots have been addressed

Overpriced

Called in for a tee time and was charged $75 for a course worth $35

Held up at the first tee due to “regulations” regarding having to be a foursome instead of a twosome

No driving range on Wed or Friday until mowing is finished

Putting green is eaten up

Greens are BAD

I arrived at the pro shop and received NO greeting whatsoever. I told the guy behind the counter my tee time and he called my name and I said yes. He says with a tone you "pre-paid" on golf now like I had done something foul.. I was like ooook. Get to the starter and he's no better. He's on the phone talking about a delivery and again no greeting or acknowledgement until I clear my throat. I got out and played. Fairways are ok. The greens are absolutely horrible.

No greens

They don’t have any greens. They shouldn’t be considered a golf course and they shouldn’t be allowed to take your money.

Sorry S Hampton but you guys should be ashamed of how bad you let things get there.
