Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

You get what you pay for - typical average municipal course.
The course in the past was a decent layout, but now there's barely any grass on the fairways and the rough is worse. There are areas where they deposited sand because too many trees have kept grass from growing evenly. Bunkers were OK, and the greens were decent, except for a "mounding effect" around the cup when they pulled out the cutter. The place is packed with players of average skill level and some less than that. It was inexpensive, and yet a decent enough course for someone from the north who hasn't played much golf back home to get in a warmup round for play on a better course.
Great day
Greens are fast and the pin placement was a little different. But all was great.
Greens are Fast!
Mayfair is a Central Florida Classic.
The course layout challenges good shot making but is forgiving. The course is far from perfect but if you appreciate chipping and putting this is amazing value as the greens are Fast and roll pure. They haven't always been this way but they are renovating the course and the value for a round is there right now. You can actually put ridge lines and breaks happen how you read them. I really enjoyed my round yesterday and will be back soon!
Great location
This is a very lovely course well-maintained and people were very friendly. Even though I was late to my appointment they were able to squeeze me in at a time that was convenient for both of us. I would recommend this place to anyone and I will be going here again. Thank you guys!
Good Course for the Price
Mayfair is a really nice old course. It has an old Florida feel and is a good value for a day on the links.
Great value
Always enjoy playing here. It's a nice layout with some right to left holes and plenty of room for my wayward drives. From the blues the par 3's can be fun.
Bare bones amenities but I come for the golf.
There are some greens being brought back into shape but you can see they'll grow in. Didn't bother us much. Greens roll well with a number of back to front sloping greens which can really surprise you if you don't have the speed.
Overall, a great value and fun course to play.
Thanks for keeping it up.
Mayfair Not Great
I was underwhelmed with the course overall. Greens were very fast and hole placement almost always was on steep slope which combined for horrible putting conditions. Construction was an eye sore
Don’t play
The course is in bad condition at a time of year when there’s no excuse. There is no signage to speak of so you’re very lucky if you find the whole you’re trying to play. The course was so overbooked that it caused multiple problems, we had to report one group of golfers for cutting in line and driving their cart on the green. Just a terrible experience overall
