Stoneybrook West Golf Course
About
Designed by Arthur Hills Stoneybrook West is a roaming blend of gutsy, penal holes, picturesque par threes over water, reachable par fives (527 and 522 yards from the tips, then 578 and 605), and several short, sporty par fours that cover all corners of the site. Dramatically rolling fairways salted with Hills' trademark grass-faced bunkers, subtle elevation changes and undulating greens were all artfully carved out of native orange groves, overlooking Black Lake. Water comes into play on 12 holes; you'll find all 18 are distinctly different, challenging and memorable.
For those visiting the Orlando area, particularly the Disney World complex, Stoneybrook West is just a matter of minutes up the road to the north. For those who frequent the Orlando golf circuit, Stoneybrook West is a course that must be seen to be measured against the other name courses.

Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2017 #18)
Reviews
Greens were in great shape. Fairways were okay. Rough was work in progress. Whole course is work in progress with the renovation and re-opening. Challenging tract that will continue to improve .
Pleasantly Surprised
I had heard mixed reviews about Stoneybrook West as given that the course had new ownership and there was much work to do to bring it back up to standards. The fairways and greens were above average and with time I think will be quite good. It is a fun and fair and a good value. I’ll be back in to play it again and look forward to its continued improvement.
Hidden gem
Great experience. Challenging but fair layout. Good shots rewarded. I would highly recommend.
Good course
Course in good condition. Greens in good shape and ball is rolling nicely
Huge Comeback
Wow, I was wildly impressed. First time playing since the course re-opened. Conditions from tee to green are quite incredible, I’d say better than pre-closing (last I played was about 5 years ago). Tee boxes were even better than Orange County National. Greens were a little slow but true and smooth. Probably around an 8.
One negative was pace of play. 8:28 tee time, got out at 8:36, waited a few minutes or more on every hole, and walked off the 18th green at 1:51. Never saw a ranger the full day. In fairness, I’m sure they are prioritizing the conditions of the course over things like a ranger, but 5.5 hours is pretty brutal in the Florida summer.
Recent discovery
I’ve known about this course for years but just never played it. I heard that it had reopened about a year and a half ago so we decided to check it out. The tee boxes and green were in good shape as well as most of the fairways but if you’re in the rough, you’re in the rough, lots of weeds!!!!. With all the rain they probably had it mowed in a while, so there was grass clippings in several of the fairways but not a dealbreaker. Staff was very friendly and concerned about the golf experience. Clubhouse is very nice, with a nice outdoor seating area, and they actually had a guy playing music.
Getting good!
Greens are alway good! Amazing how the course is coming along in just a few months. They are putting a lot of work into it.
Improving Course
The course is on its way back. Definitely worth playing now.
Expected More From This Course
The course conditions presented some challenges, with wetter-than-anticipated fairways and a bumpy cart ride. While I was paired with two other golfers for the round, my girlfriend accompanied me to observe and learn more about the game. The course charged a $20 riding fee for her presence, which I understand is common practice when a foursome requires an additional cart. However, in this case, as we were only three players, the need for an extra cart wasn't present. Having played other courses in the Orlando area that don't impose riding fees for observers, I found the fee a bit excessive, especially considering the overall course conditions.
Keeps getting better every week!
This course has come back to life and keeps getting better every week! If you’ve played it in the past it may be time to reconsider visiting this track again. Everything is starting to gel with this course! Team is still amazing as always but, the greens crew has really been putting in the work and it looks and plays great!
