Stoneybrook West Golf Course
About
Designed by Arthur Hills Stoneybrook West is a roaming blend of gutsy, penal holes, picturesque par threes over water, reachable par fives (527 and 522 yards from the tips, then 578 and 605), and several short, sporty par fours that cover all corners of the site. Dramatically rolling fairways salted with Hills' trademark grass-faced bunkers, subtle elevation changes and undulating greens were all artfully carved out of native orange groves, overlooking Black Lake. Water comes into play on 12 holes; you'll find all 18 are distinctly different, challenging and memorable.
For those visiting the Orlando area, particularly the Disney World complex, Stoneybrook West is just a matter of minutes up the road to the north. For those who frequent the Orlando golf circuit, Stoneybrook West is a course that must be seen to be measured against the other name courses.

Reviews
Needs work
I played this course many times before it closed and having been hesitating booking it after the reopening considering the reviews and finally did. The course is slow coming back. The greens in good shape but the rough needs work and makes the corse less appealing. Will give it a try again in few months
Horrible booking
Had a 10:36 time time booked. Showed up around 9:45 to warm up on the range. Stopped by to check in with the pro shop and was told by a gentleman with no customer service experience that my booking doesn’t exist and that I should call golf now to ask them why it didn’t book. I showed him the confirmation and booked number. He looked again and found my tee time under the 11:15 slot. He said I would have to start at that time because they had a high school walking tournament going on, also because of the pace of play with the tournament we would have to start on hole 10. We wait and 11:15 comes and we pull up to hole 10 and there is 3 other groups of 4 waiting at that hole to start. Starter pulls up just as confused as everyone else. The “friendly” gentleman from the pro shop had sent everyone out there for that same start time. The starter radios back to him and he decides to start us on 16, one group on 17, one on 18. We play through 18 and pull up to 1 and there is another group that has just pulled up and is starting their round. We wait our turn and while we are on the tee box another new group pulls up to start their round. They are looking at us with a confused look on their face. Come to find out they are the second group of another tournament that is now starting. So now the starter pulls up in disbelief with the complete disorganization. He now has to chase down the group in front of us and ask them to pause and let us play through. After we play through we play 2 more holes and run into a traffic jamb. State of play is crawling because of the walking high school tournament. Winded up only getting 12 holes in before we had to leave in the over 6 hours of being there. A very poorly ran course with no one who wanted to take any accountability. The gentleman in the pro shop shouldn’t be anywhere near the front desk with customers or scheduling. Hoping it was a one off kind of thing, because I was looking forward to having this course open again after being closed for so long.
Golf
This is one of the best courses that I have played and the course is in great shape with plenty of challenges
Stoneybrook West
Course improving. Still needs work around edges of the greens and bunkers. Kudos to staff for bringing this course back.
Getting better
The course is definitely a work in progress. ITT had been closed and as of Monday has been back open for a year. Tee’s, fairways and greens are in good shape. Greens rolll true and are in excellent condition. The rough is just a weed patch, but that to be expected with the reopen. They have put the money in the right place to get the course going again. Staff were excellent. From the shop to the first tee and including beverage cart attendant. I will be curious how much improvement there is after another year.
Much Improved from 6 months ago.
Much improved from 6 months ago. They are steadily improving conditions and I would definitely play this course again. However, they charge too much for range balls.
Stoneybrook West
Kudos to team for bringing this course back from oblivion. Each time I play it, I can see improvements. Bunkers still need work and the collars around the greens could use some tender loving care.
Stoneybrook West
Welcome back. Formerly, one of my go to courses. It fell on hard times. Kudos to the team for bringing it back. Enjoyed my round and will be booking a tee time in the future.
Great resurrection.
Played it 25-30 years ago and they have done a great job bringing course back to life greens were awesome rolled at 6 not sure but great condition.
Great time
Course was dead on a Friday morning. Fine with me as I was solo with a ride along. Fyi that costs $20 which kinda sucks. I teed off just before 8am and didn't see another golfer on the course the entire time. Layout is fairly challenging for me as someone that shoots about 100. Decent amount of water and sand. Conditions were nice, greens were in great shape but I found them to be inconsistent speed wise, however that's probably due to user error. Pricing was a bit more than expected for a weekday time and the ride along fee. Had a great time will definitely be back
Stoneybrook West
Significant improvement in course conditions. Kudos to the staff. Saw major improvements in tees, fairways and greens. Bunkers and some areas around the greens need work. Pleasantly surprised by conditions. Definitely will be back.
Great Course
Amazing course and hospitality, nice fairways and greens. People were super friendly, I even inquired about being a starter.
Great time continued improvement!
Had a great round playing this course for the first time. It was a busy day so I did get paired with a threesome. I’m a single player who enjoys bringing my wife so we can get away from our normal hustle and busy schedules so it’s our time to just be outside and enjoy. With that being said we do understand in busy days that we could get paired up and this was one of those days. Iam grateful for these courses that allow a single player/single ride along and this time around we were paired a fantastic threesome which was a lot of fun. The course from my understanding is continuing to get better and better each day. It shows and the course is a bit of a challenge with some decision making shots. The only thing I think I add are better notes as we came to the back gate and no one is there from certain hours so maybe make mention of that so I would have bypassed that and went straight to the front gate but it didn’t cause an issue at all just more of a note thing. Great course, great time! I will also add that there wasn’t much in the Proshop for women as the wife does like to spend a little money on outfits from time to time so having a bit more of a selection could garner additional dollars. Also one last thing I collect the metal quarter size ball markers even if I had to buy a divot took to get one I would like to see those, I settled for a poker chip style but really don’t have those and no where to display. All in all we will definitely be back it was great and people were friendly. Thanks for a great round!
Coming Back
Stoneybrook West is making a come back. Played there Aug 8th and the course is in good shape. The fairways are good and same with the tee boxes. The greens are very good. They putt true and rather fast. Only issue I had is to hold a green you had to hit a high shot in or you could roll to the back or off. There we some bare spots near some greens but not bad. All and all Stoneybrook is making a nice come back. Thank You to the grounds crew GREAT work!!!
Much Better Than Expected
This course has certainly risen from the dead but not to its current pricing point. Its status has changed from barely playable to serviceable but $60 brings increased expectations are far from being achieved.
Greens - soft and slow but fairly clean and consistent.
Fairways- decent shape and highly recommended for those interested in posting a solid score.
Traps - waste bunkers. Most not even raked. Almost as if they haven't gotten to the point where traps are a concern yet.
SBW like Metrowest are 2 courses that Orlando golf needs to return to glory. I'd play SBW again because I enjoyed the layout, but I'd avoid bringing guests to this course because it still fails to hit the marks.
Grade - C-
