Stoneybrook West Golf Course
About
Designed by Arthur Hills Stoneybrook West is a roaming blend of gutsy, penal holes, picturesque par threes over water, reachable par fives (527 and 522 yards from the tips, then 578 and 605), and several short, sporty par fours that cover all corners of the site. Dramatically rolling fairways salted with Hills' trademark grass-faced bunkers, subtle elevation changes and undulating greens were all artfully carved out of native orange groves, overlooking Black Lake. Water comes into play on 12 holes; you'll find all 18 are distinctly different, challenging and memorable.
For those visiting the Orlando area, particularly the Disney World complex, Stoneybrook West is just a matter of minutes up the road to the north. For those who frequent the Orlando golf circuit, Stoneybrook West is a course that must be seen to be measured against the other name courses.

Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2017 #18)
Reviews
Has great potential
From what I was told the course just re-opened after years of being closed and neglected. The greens are in great shape, fairways and rough still needs to fill in but give this course some time and it will be a very fun course to play.
Good experience with recently reopened course.
Pace was very slow and no apparent effort from staff to address it. Otherwise a solid experience. Greens in very good condition. Tees and fairways so-so, avg for low- moderate tier course this time of year. Staff good !!
Could be better
My first time playing since course reopened. Got a good rate on GolfNow. The greens are very good but the fairways need work. Lots of bare spots Though the fairways would be in better condition after the rehab of the course. The daily fee they charge is too high for the course Staff helped a lot to move a group two holes ahead that were causing extremely slow play. Pace picked up after their assistance
Great Burgers!
The course is still in a stage of growing back in. Fairways and rough are sparse in a lot of areas. Played off a lot of dirt and mud. Greens would be decent if players fixed their ball marks.
Always enjoyed the layout of SBW. Pretty challenging on its good days.
A Welcome Return
I aways loved this course and was saddened when it closed. Given the neighborhood it runs through, I always expected it to reopen, but didn't expect it would take so long. At any rate, the course layout is unchanged. Given it's recent reopening, I agree that it remains a work in progress but is still very playable. The fairways are thin, needing time to mature, but the greens are good and apart from a few holes on the back 9, we were pleasantly surprised.
Just ok
Went to this course for first time since it was shutdown. The positives are the greens were in good shape, fairways were decent too. Everything else was subpar though. Pace of play wasn’t great and they didn’t have enough golf carts. Staff friendliness wasn’t good. I booked a tee time yet they hurried me to go ahead even earlier than my time so didn’t get to even use the range. I had a cart and then the staff was like we need you to move in to the cart with this other person because we don’t have enough carts. the main issue was cost for the quality of course and service. I got a hot rate but even that rate isn’t worth spending. Can’t imagine anyone paying the regular rate of $75 to play here, especially when there is Orange County National that is sooo much better.
Nice
Nice course with many challenges, sand oceans of water and some trees. Staff extra friendly will play again.
Not bad for $30
Hot deal for $30 it’s fine. Any more you are really overpaying for less than ideal golf conditions.
Worth paying
Nice course, challenging and fun. Oceans of water and sand. Staff was great. Saw improvements on the course, which means they care. If in the area you must play.
It’s Playable
This was my first time playing this course since it closed in 2018. The greens were in good condition, firm, fast and rolling true. The fairways still need some TLC. Fairways were spotty and still bare in a lot of places. Me and my playing partner agreed to pick, clean and place due to the spotty conditions. And I know the rough will be rough, but the rough is a little rougher than what it should be, sandy in a lot of areas and also had some bare spots of its on. The tee boxes were OKAY…the grass on the tee boxes seemed like regular grass that’s just been mowed and not treated. I couldn’t get a clean strike on the or 3s. And the areas around the greens were rough on some holes. One hole had craters around the green to the point where my ball hit one of them and flew 90 degrees to the right completely away from the green. I’ll wait a few more months until I come back. At least they’re making progress.
Much bettter but work to do
No rain lately but is was soft muddy. Still a lot
Of bare spots. And fraiways are thin
Surprisingly good
First time playing this course since it reopened, I was surprised how good the course is especially since average reviews were only 3 stars! I live just outside the third hole, I could see them working on improvements every day.
I think that if they drop the price to 40.00 weekdays and 50.00 on weekends, they will fill the course everyday once the word gets out! Anyone who tries it out will want to play it again as I do,
Decent Course
I've played StoneyBrook West for the third time now, and I must say it keeps getting better. While I wouldn't have paid the full price initially, I'm glad that GolfNow offered a great deal that made it worthwhile. I'm hopeful that the course conditions will keep improving, and if they do, I believe it would be worth paying $60 or even more.
Pretty Good Considering
So for a course that just re-opened and was remodeled, it was pretty good. Greens were not perfect but rolled well. Fairways and rough were ok but could be better. Staff were super nice. There was a tournament ahead of me so I waited to tee off so I was not near them and I ended up playing in 3.5 hours.
Definitely going back.
They opened this thing too early I don’t think it will ever fill in properly
