Stoneybrook West Golf Course
About
Designed by Arthur Hills Stoneybrook West is a roaming blend of gutsy, penal holes, picturesque par threes over water, reachable par fives (527 and 522 yards from the tips, then 578 and 605), and several short, sporty par fours that cover all corners of the site. Dramatically rolling fairways salted with Hills' trademark grass-faced bunkers, subtle elevation changes and undulating greens were all artfully carved out of native orange groves, overlooking Black Lake. Water comes into play on 12 holes; you'll find all 18 are distinctly different, challenging and memorable.
For those visiting the Orlando area, particularly the Disney World complex, Stoneybrook West is just a matter of minutes up the road to the north. For those who frequent the Orlando golf circuit, Stoneybrook West is a course that must be seen to be measured against the other name courses.

Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2017 #18)
Reviews
Ohio winter golf
Nice layout greens fast and run true.. fairways are short cut and hard. It is winter so ..
Going back Monday to play again.
GOLFCART GPS
My review would have been better, but I’m voicing out and all of our golfers that Golf agree that your GPS setting on the course for the carts needs to be improved. Your cart dies on you all the time and it’s a real pain in the butt , Y’all need to fix this problem. It’s the main thing we hate about your course.!! Everyone in our Golf party agrees on this matter !!
Not Worth It
This course is ok , however it took THREE HOURS to complete the front nine & 2.5 hours to complete the back.
The ranger came around 3 times to keep us updated but the pace of play never changed. The course was very unapologetic....
I do not recommend playing this course
Ok....but not Ok...
This is a nice course, great potential. Greens are good, fast, tee boxes, good....fairways...well..not so good. That being said, I heard that there is a "bug" in the roots and killing the fairways. Course is to be closed for a few weeks this summer to rectify the problem. Really hope that happens. They do need better rangers/marshals...well actually they have none....pace of play can be horrible. We (foursome) followed a threesome, had a single join us on 12th hole, now 5....and still waited on every tee and fairway shot...5+ hour round...not so much fun...company was good....better than any outdoor golf being played in Ontario in January...
Needed more time to grow.
This course was closed for a few years. I doesn’t appear to let it’s all grow in well enough.
Could be better, but price is right
I had played this course several times in the past. But I had never experienced the slowness of play that I experienced during this round. It took us 3 hours to finish the front nine. Groups were crammed in. Did not seem tremendously organized. I spoke to the Marshall after nine holes and he apparently went out and spoke to some of the groups in front of us. The pace was much better on the back nine. The course condition overall was fair. The greens were a little rough. But for the price, I'd play it again. They just need to ensure the pace of play is better than it was on this day.
We Can Do Better
This has member been my favorite layout but e played it today. Has not been there since the reopening. Greens pretty quick and rolled well; tee boxes were ok.
Fairways and all other green spaces just awful (sorry to say)
The sad part was that s as we finished up there was a fantastic jr golf clinic going on (looked like is was well run). What an opportunity they are missing because of the conditions.
We golfers need to fix our call marks on the greens it’s not hard to do take some pride and leave this place better than we found it.
Not a bad course
I play here often. For the money is one of the best deals around. Fairways moderate to poor but the greens are excellent, and fast. To me the greens are what makes a course. Nice layout as well.
Poor rental clubs
We did enjoy our round, course is in good condition, but pace of play was dreadful and rental clubs were a disaster.
We had a ladies and a mens set and they were a mess. Of course one wouldn´t expect state of art clubs but we were given one left handed, had to go back to exchange; that set was pretty cool, with woods, hybrids and everything. The right handed came with a 3-iron (?!?), a sandy wedge so old it had turned black, driver was too heavy. No S wedge for my husband (he was told we could share); his driver was Nike, which says it all as they stopped making clubs in 2016.
All in all, I would recomend the course but only if you are bringing your clubs with you.
Inexpensive, still over priced
This time of year this is one of the cheaper options in the area. It’s still over priced.
The good - the greens are the best thing about the course and they’re in average condition. Fairly quick but still have plenty of weeds and impurities. You’re going to have putts that get bumped offline throughout the round. The staff is great, good people, always friendly. The food at the restaurant is good.
The bad - I’ve been here plenty of times as a local and the fairways and rough have been in much better condition in the past. If you find the fairway, you’re most likely going to have to roll the ball or be punished when your ball is on dirt or in a crater. The fairway lies will be super tight, make good contact or skull it. If you’re fat it’ll be like hitting off a mat. If you’re in the rough, you might as well be hitting out of your back yard, there’s no difference in condition. Weeds, clovers, loose dirt or sand are what you’ll find. Tee boxes weren’t terrible, I’ve seen worse but they’re not good.
Got stuck behind a slow group, no ranger but it was a Monday afternoon, I’ll forgive it.
Overall, the round is worth $40 at most during peak times and $20-$25 any other time. My advice is to just spend the extra $20-$40 and play one of the other courses in a the area. If you’re gonna spend upwards of half a day at the course play somewhere a little more enjoyable. Hopefully SBW turns it around, but it’s in unacceptable condition right now in my opinion. I’ll check back in a few months.
Still needs a works
This course used to be one of the nicest courses around. Then it went to crap. Once it reopened, things started to get better but it seems to have stalled on the improvements. I really hope it gets back to its glory days conditions.
C'mon Man, fix this course!
Good layout, challenging fast greens. Those are the positives. Unfortunately, other than the greens, course in horrible condition. Weeds on tee boxes, more bare spots, dirt, and weeds than grass on fairways. Sand in bunkers is really a thin layer of sand compressed on top of clay. Don’t use a club with large bounce, better off trying to chip it out. Too bad, has potential to be a good course. I paid $49 and can look past bad conditions since this course has an enjoyable layout, but no reason to play this again
Worst golf course in Orlando
Beyond terrible.
TLDR - 3h 45m to play 10 (ten) holes. Tipsy cart girl.
Arrived at the course, asked the pro shop how is pace. He said we’re looking good. We had to wait on the first tee for over 15 minutes past our original tee time and it just went wildly downhill from there.
The condition of the course is absolutely shocking, fairways were bear and weedy. This is unacceptable and basic maintenance (from someone who works in sports maintenance). Greens were in horribly shape with scuff mark and on par 3s hundreds of ball craters leaving untrue rolls.
Pin placements were done by someone having a bad day, with multiple being on harsh slopes. Not a problem for good players, but when you have a fully booked day of amateur golfers you’re slowing down pace of play considerably.
We saw the ranger once, who blamed the slowness on a group 6 holes ahead of us. I asked him to ask them to skip a couple of holes so we can speed up. He refused.
The cart girl came around once, she had definitely had a drink or two during the day.
After playing 10 holes in 3h 45 minutes, we got to the 11th tee and there were 3 groups there already. 1 on the green, one on the fairway and 1 on the tee box. At that point we decided against a 7 hour round of golf.
We returned to the pro shop, only to find the ranger relaxing inside. Before we had said a word the boy who washes carts said we’re not giving refunds today. At that point we left. Not one apology for overbooking, or acknowledgement was offered.
I didn’t think this review was worth my time, but not leaving one would be a disservice to the course. For anyone considering playing here, please, please, please do not waste your time or money. It just isn’t worth it.
There are courses priced the same with far better pace of play, fairway conditions, and customer service.
