Stoneybrook West Golf Course

About
Designed by Arthur Hills Stoneybrook West is a roaming blend of gutsy, penal holes, picturesque par threes over water, reachable par fives (527 and 522 yards from the tips, then 578 and 605), and several short, sporty par fours that cover all corners of the site. Dramatically rolling fairways salted with Hills' trademark grass-faced bunkers, subtle elevation changes and undulating greens were all artfully carved out of native orange groves, overlooking Black Lake. Water comes into play on 12 holes; you'll find all 18 are distinctly different, challenging and memorable.
For those visiting the Orlando area, particularly the Disney World complex, Stoneybrook West is just a matter of minutes up the road to the north. For those who frequent the Orlando golf circuit, Stoneybrook West is a course that must be seen to be measured against the other name courses.

Reviews
SBW is coming back
The course is weedy but playable. Same with the bunkers... they're not beautiful, white, fluffy sand, but you can play out of them. A lot of rough areas around the the greens.
And the greens? The greens are some of the best around with lots of contours.
The carts and cart paths are very good. The restaurant is open but we didn't eat. Well worth the hot deal price we paid.
Very sporty course with a good layout.
Course was in good condition and the greens were quick but not stupid fast. Lots of undulations on the greens may for some tricky chipping and putting. Fun course to play.
Will always be one of my favorites
Was right after the hurricane, so water was abound everywhere, but playable. Some holes were shortened by the tees because of standing water. First time playing since they reopened. Used to be one of my favorite courses .. I'm sure they'll get back up to being supreme soon enough
Awesome
The course was really good. Like everything about it. Only draw back was the person that played with us his name was Paul was let’s say easy way was a jerk. Its was like we weren’t around. I will never play with him again if I’m hooked up with him.
Slow Golf, teen golfers have priority.
Busy golf school and dozens of golf students were present on the training greens for our 12:33 pm tee time. We teed off on time. Greens are fast, in nice shape compared to clipped weeds throughout the fairways. After completing the 5th hole the course was backed up due the two foursomes, all teenagers walking and carrying golf bags on the next two holes. It was exasperatingly slow. As we waited on the 8th hole to tee off, there were FOUR groups waiting on the same tee. We skipped the 9th and 10th holes drove to the 11th tee box only to have another teen group walking the fairway, slowly. We passed this group and skipped the 12th through 15th holes which had teen walkers interspersed with regular golfers. Aggravatingly slow. At this point we just quit.
Greens in great condition!
Still lots of work needed, when booking tee times, find out if kids will be walking ahead of you!
Don’t go there when kids are playing there!
Decent course for the price
This was my first time playing this course and it was one that I really wanted to try because of how close it is to my home. I got a great deal with the “hot deal” and my GolfNow membership and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The greens were the best part by far rolling fast and true but overall it felt like a place where I could play regularly. It is not great but definitely worth 30-40 dollars. For the price I felt like I got a good value. I hope that the course continues to improve as it has recently been reopened.
Worth trying!
One of the best design courses around. Many areas still very wet. Wednesday and Sunday afternoons very busy!
Excellent clean up after the hurricane
Surprising how much work was done since the hurricane! One of the best clean up jobs around! This course has tremendous potential to be among the top course in this area!
This course has come back to life! !
I hadn't played this course for 5 years,it is back & looking great.
Still improving.
Stoneybrook west is getting better. Greens are nearly there and are lighting fast. 2 major problems stood out. Course is still muddy everywhere . Not their fault but still a problem. Second problem was 2 ladies playing in front us. They would not let us play through. They had my 2some, the foursome behind us and a single behind them waiting Constantly on them. Just another example of be careful about who you let out 1st. That left a very bad taste about the course. We may avoid this course in the future due to this.
Fast but True Greens
This course still has some room for improvement since the re-opening. The tee boxes, most fairways, and greens are in good shape. The roughs are inconsistent with dirt, weeds and various grasses. Overall, it was an enjoyable course.
Would play again
All good conditions we’re not that good but I’m sure the hurricane had a lot to do with it, but for the hurricane they had the conditions are very good nice day out
