Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands
About
Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is carved from gently rolling hills located just outside of Orlando in the city of Leesburg. Although the wide fairways are relatively flat, the golf course's terrain provides the greens with gentle undulation. Sparkling lakes provide scenery while also coming into play as water hazards on nine holes. There are also doglegs and bunkers throughout to provide the golf course with even more challenges. Much of the land that the club occupies has been preserved as a wetlands area, offering golfers a glimpse of native wildlife. In addition to its natural beauty, Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is popular due to its accessible layout that accommodates both low and high handicap players.

Top 10 layout in Ocala area
The greens the Fairways the T boxes are in excellent condition they just reseed about a month ago they haven't quite cut the greens down short enough they're very playable if you like a medium that's what they are if you like them fast not yet I would put in my top 10 in the area played 3x already at a decent price will be playing here a lot keep up the good work guys and the hospitality is great all around u will enjoy your experience for sure...by the way shot 76 and I am a 13 handicap...
Can I be a member ?
While a bit off the beaten path in Leesburg the trip up from Orlando was made worth it with the GolfNow price and the very friendly staff. A golfing, retirement community and one look at the clubhouse tells you they take it seriously. Numerous teams and leagues and scheudles and handicaps. A fun course and as vacationing 50-somethings we brought down the average age quite a bit.
Front nine plays around a number of wetlands and ponds, while the back nine is quite open and surprising elevation changes.
Gem
We played in good time. The course was in very good condition and the staff was very helpful. Had an eagle on the 6th hole so special place. We'll go back soon!

Good course for high handicap, good fairways and greens
Great layout
I played Monarch at Royal Highlands for the first time. What a treasure, great layout, the course was in excellent condition. Our foursome played the round in four hours, great pace of play.
They had recently reseeded the greens so they were a little slow. I would definitely play the course again.
a good choice
this is a good course similar to 2 other courses,Arlington Ridge and Cranes Roost, in the area south of Leesburg on HWY 27. Course condition was very good and the overall experience there was satisfying. I would be happy to play there again.
Excellent Shape
Course was in excellent shape, both fairways and greens.
Tee times
Bought a 12:38 tee time, but was told at course we would have to wait for a 1pm shotgun start, which was set up for a group of senior citizens that only play 9 holes, you might make a point to ask any golf course you have dealings with,if they have similar programs.Waiting in the heat ,putting on practice green for an extra 22 mins was NOT! what I had planned on
Not too bad c
Just airated the course. Not in to bad of shape.
Royal course
Jim in the pro shop very helpful very nice course my wife rode with me when I played and she liked the course to very nice course the course is challenging but good for every style off player
Pleasant course for an easy days golf
Big wide fairways that are in reasonable condition, greens are good a bit slow but that's fine as they are consistent throu 1 to 18. This is a fairly short course that would be good for beginners and high handicappers, not much for those that need a golfing challenge.
Staff were all friendly and helpful, restaurant serves breakfast but seems to close after lunch.
For the money - A jewel!
Didn't expect much for $14. My wife and I were matched up with another GolfNow player. The course is short but has a very interesting layout. Some water but it doesn't really come into play much. The tees and fairways were nice but the real surprise was the greens. They were the best I've played in some time here in central FL. The grain even came into play! Will return often. Close to my home in The Villages.
Time well spent...
I brought my dad here for his 76th birthday. We were joined by a friend of mine, who happened to be in the area, and our 4th was a local guy, named Denny. We got a good deal on Golfnow and they sent us out on the back 9. The course was in good overall shape, with the greens being the best part. They were a touch grainy and slower than expected, but pretty consistent. The back 9 has some nice views and it paid to have a local with us, to give us an idea of where to hit. The wildlife was abundant, with sand hill cranes regularly walking around us, seemingly unconcerned. The front 9 was a little more difficult, with water coming into play on several holes. The carts were electric and well maintained. Staff was cordial and helpful. We wanted to have a drink after the round, but the bar was closed for a memorial service, so I can't give an accurate assessment of the food/drink. All in all, it was a nice play and we plan on returning...*a word of caution though- You need to have a photo i.d. to get into the development. Security at the gate is friendly, but tight*
Suprisingly fun!
First time playing the course, waited for a reasonable price since it is such a short track and comparable courses in the area are not in the best shape (especially the greens) right now. Paired up with 3 snowbirds from Nova Scotia with great attitudes and had a blast! The course is not difficult but very enjoyable, many of the holes are different requiring the use of different clubs - so not all holes are 3 wood \wedge. It was very windy but I reached both par fives on the front in two, the par five on the back is a true 3 shot hole. The most surprising thing was the greens - they were absolutely spectacular! Unreal for this caliber of course, they were Disney\Celebration\Reunion good. I was amazed! Maybe I was lucky and this is the best they've ever been or maybe they just have an excellent Superintendent, regardless they were receptive, true and quick. Definitely a place to put on your list if you are in the area, totally enjoyable. Also very picturesque by the way, some holes on the front (par 3 then 5) bordered wetlands, very pretty.
Would like to play again......
Didn't know the layout. Played with another couple (nice time, laughed a lot) who knew the course so they told us the layout. Nice course, nice village.
