About
Windy Harbor Golf Club is a military golf course located at the Mayport Naval Station, it was formerly known as the Mayport Golf Club. The seaside course now takes its name from the blustery ocean breezes that sweep through the back nine. The golf course is narrow with tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens that are slightly sloped. There is also a defined cut of rough beside every fairway. Greenside bunkers and water hazards that come into play on nearly every hole make the course challenging for players of all abilities. Windy Harbor Golf Club also has practice facilities for golfers to use that include a driving range with grass and carpeted practice tees, a practice sand trap, and a large putting green.

Golfer Reviews
Lovely course
the course is in very good shape and the staff is very nice and friendly.
In great condition. Coquina traps are hard to learn and leave a lot of stubble on the greens
Great Course for Intermediate Golfer
Played here quite a few times. The course is typically in great shape - both fairways and greens. Though water, trees and marsh area complement almost all holes, the distances to clear are fair and allow the intermediate golfer a very playable experience. Traps protect most greens, but with all the summer afternoon rain, don’t seem to drain well in some areas and need more attention. Really enjoy playing this course!
Very enjoyable rounds of golf
Actually played the course on Tuesday, July 3rd and Wednesday July 4th. My buddy and I were paired with another twosome on Tuesday and then played by ourselves on Wednesday. Course is in excellent condition for a semi-muni, MWR card. The overall turf is great, most of the greens are in good shape now with all of the rain. The only issue is that about half of the bunkers are hard and dried out. Makes the bunker shots very difficult. I'm a member at Atlantic Beach CC but my buddy and I are bogey golfers at best and just find this course more enjoyable for our talent levels! Played for $25 on Tuesday and $35 on Wednesday, holiday, how can you beat that? Staff is very friendly. They have a nice restaurant that we enjoyed for breakfast and lunch. This course is really a little known gem in Atlantic Beach.
What happened?
Tees and fairways are in great shape but the greens were extremely bumpy. Disappointed to see them go from rolling great a few months again to being bumpy road on just about all the greens. I hope some TLC and rain will smooth them out. This is too good of a course to let them go like that. Always enjoyed the time track and intend to be back when I hear the greens have returned to the standards I have seen in the past.
Fix the greens and it’s a 4-5 Star course
One week later and no improvement - tee boxes, fairways excellent - greens were terrible and bare
Can’t even chip on them expecting normal results
I’m confident these will be fixed but for now it’s not worth playing
Bargain
Can’t beat the hot deal rate. Greens were a little bumpy but took someone for their first time golfing. Pace of play was great until getting rained out.
Work to be done on the greens
Normally impeccable greens were threadbare like a muni. I’m sure the staff will fix matters as they’ve been perfect in the past
I thought it was the rain but a day later Oakbridge was in great shape which was a surprise
Winds blowing at Windy Harbor
I play here quite a bit and I really like the course. Greens are always in good shape (although they don't cut them too close--they run a little on the slow side). Pace of play is fine and the value is outstanding.
Excellent course but SLOW play
Course is in tip top shape - kudos to those maintaining it ! For the first time ever we passed on the HotDeals to see how the other half lived - hoped for a nice quick round as opposed to being herded into GolfNow foursomes - those while cheap had resulted in 4 hour rounds.
Went as hoped for 9 holes in 90 min - played well as a result. Back 9 not so much and we slowed down so much the round ended up at .... yep! 4 hours.
The best we've managed timewise at Windy Harbor is to go when the weather is iffy
Great value and fun
Always enjoy playing this course as it's fairly straight forward but with just enough hazards to make it challenging in key spots.
Wind seems to always be a factor.
Always a fun round of golf!
Glad the Navy gives civilians the opportunity to play Windy Harbor. Playable, but not easy.
