Course needs some attention
The course was very rough. None of the tee boxes are level, hard to tell the fairways from the rough. They need some serious maintenance on the course. Greens were just punched so they were extremely bumpy. Would not recommend this course….. Hopefully the owner of the course reads this so this course can get the much needed care it deserves…
Punched and sanded
Was not informed by golfnow about greens being in such bad conditions. Punched and sanded just days prior to playing.
The Round of Golf was Enjoyable
The greens had just been sanded, and were obviously in bad shape. Everything else about the round was very good.
Good bang for the buck! Layout is a little confusing. No 100,150 or 200 yard stakes make it difficult to assess distance without range finder.
Love the military discount. Improve layout with signs and yardage markers.

Had a wonderful. I really enjoy playing this course.
Superb Round of Golf
Had a great time at River Oaks. The pace of play was excellent, and the course was in great shape.
3 plus hours for 9 holes!!!
Wow, no starter, no marshal, snails pace of play with tee times stacked and a single playing! Walked away after over 3 hours to get through nine holes. I won’t be back
Nice little course
Great bloody Mary's, most of staff is friendly. Gets backed up on occasion, several 3 pars. Hard to get to. Some water, some marsh, couple blind holes. Signage is decent, cart paths don't go thru the whole course. No drink cart or real bathrooms on course. Would go more if it were in better location.
Best shape in years
The course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen. Greens rolled excellent, although they were a little soft do to the watering to keep them green. Bunkers were well maintained. The only draw back was pace of play. I was the third group off and the two groups in front of us were terribly slow. They played from the black tees and on more than one occasion, several of the players failed to make it past the red tee markers. There was no marshal out to ensure pace of play was adhered to.
No sand
The River Oaks GC management decided to stop using sand. The bunkers were the worst I've ever seen. No sand in the cart bottles therefor nobody was fixing their divots.
I asked the Starter in the Proshop why no sand and he said it was a management decision.
I will never play there again unless they stop this insanity!
Finding my ball in a divot too many times is unacceptable..

We’ll kept fairways. Fun experience overall!
