River Oaks Golf Club

The course was playable after a lot of rain, unfortunately the front nine couldn’t be played with a power cart, so we ended up playing the back nine twice. It was still a great day for golf!

Greens are in good condition, tee boxes need some work, fairways not bad considering all the rain a couple days ago, course seems to drain pretty good. Staff is friendly and tacos after round are delicious.

Course is in okay condition. Still winter dormant grass makes for some poor lies. Grounds crew is doing a lot of work so when it does eventually warm up/green up it should be in excellent shape. The day I played we were stuck behind a very slow foursome so it was a longer round than it should have been.

It was great to find this course DRY. Unlike Morgan Creek which was a muddy mess. Golf carts allowed on fairways. Did no damage. Real sand in traps. Great day

Keep the ball in play and get up and down a few times and you can shoot some good scores here .

Played with a buddy in strong winds. We had a good round. The course is well maintained; and the greens were exceptional. They were firm and rolled nicely. The only negative experience would be a couple of the tee boxes that were rutted and no where near level. Overall, I consider this course to be the best bang for your buck in the Sac area. Kudos to the grounds crew!

I was surprised with the course being as interesting as it was. A layout in the middle of walnut orchards and other nut trees, I think, does not conjure up visions of aesthetic outdoor activity. They were harvesting walnuts, so the dust was quite bad on holes 2&3. It was a nice layout, extremely fair and a little bit dangerous with tee boxes in the line of fire on more than a few holes. Most tee boxes were green with a carpet of clover, not grass. The greens were good and held most approach shots like a dart. I liked playing the course except having to wait on every single shot. That's not fun, but I guess for a 11:30 tee time on a Thursday, it's to be expected I suppose.

The men’s bathroom in the pro shop / dining area / kitchen area which are all adjacent to each other. It smells like dried urine and this was first thing in the morning!! Smells worse than any dive bar bathroom at 2 am. Seriously people!?!?

Because of the proximity to the dining area I will never again order anything to eat from this place.

On another note. Please hire attendants checking us in that are friendly or at least train them to fake a smile towards paying customers. I’ve played here about five times in the past year and never have I been greeted with a smile or gratitude for my business.

Fairways and tees a bit ragged but very playable. Really appreciated that carts can go virtually anywhere (always respect just in front of greens). 98° heat. Slow group in front of us were oblivious - group in front of them ahead by 4 holes - we were at 10th tee with them and they didnt even consider inviting us to play through (2 hour rnd that should have been 90 minutes).

Greens not that fast but in great condition. Really friendly check-in. Good carts. Good range and putting green. Loved the $35 replay fee (includes cart). Very green course - lots of huge oaks, but pretty open course.

The course is in overall good shape , they have definitely put some time and $$$ into the course this year and it’s paying off !
