Not bad for having rained all morning
After it had rained all night and up to an hr before tee time. The course still played tough. The sun came out & dried the greens fairly quickly. It was cart path only for the round. Which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It forced us to make better shots. All in all. A great calm day for golf. And a challenge as always.
Great Challenge
Course is in great shape considering drought conditions. Staff very friendly. Greens are rolling perfect and challenging with undulations.
The Rawls Course
Overall it's a fine track. They even said we could have $4 shot of Grey Goose if we played under 4:28 mins or something, which I love to encourage fast play. It's by far the best muni in Lubbock. The drinks are extremely expensive but the food is great. THe F&B director is named Dustin I believe and he made us feel right at home and was wonderful. We will certainly be back!
Thanx Rawls,
Andy White
Best course in lubbock
Great course. Can be challenging for a lot of golfers so the pace tends to be a little slower. Thanks to golfnow I can afford to play the course more often!
Rawls
The course was in pretty good shape. The chipping area was not very good. It would be nice if there were more flags on the driving range. Overall very good for only $33.
Best Course In West Texas!
This course is worth the money. Play it the next chance you get.
Windy but worth it
Wind blowing 30 mph, new sand in the bunkers and there were a lot of them, fairways were in good shape but the greens has been sanded and there we're quite a few small hole in them, played withy wife son and a friend, played from the tips and enjoyed the experience
The best golf course
I love to go golfing in a course like this one nice course best in town
Challenging
This course is challenging. The fairways and greens are in excellent shape.
The undulant greens are fast and excellent shape, especially for winter golf.
The sand traps and bunkers were being improved when we played. But overall, the course and facilities are in excellent shape.
The carts are beginning to show signs of wear..
Winding windy fun
They were redoing the bunkers so we had to work around some of the workers. The new sand was very deep, but the course was Classic Tom Doak. It's a challenging course that makes you wonder if you are really in Lubbock until you hit 5-iron to a 130 yard par three or hook one over by Indiana. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's higher priced than most of the area's courses, but well worth the fee. I will play it again if back in Lubbock.
great course
Best couse in West Texas you can play. I have played at some of the nicest golf couses in the US. TPC Scottsdale, Greyhawk, Troon North, Oakland Hills, Desert Mountain, Pebble Beach, Doral, PGA National, Harbourtown links, Firestone, Medina an many more. This track is among the best in Texas. A troon course whose links style golf reminds me of whistling straights, or Talking Stick. Well manicured, consistant greens. Great ungelation. 7200 yrds of challenging golf. You will have wind, dust, an other eliments to fight through during your adventure. But it wont be a round you will soon forget, but a course you will want to play over and over again.
Best Course in Lubbock, even better than private clubs
Course was phenomenal, challenging, and great in all aspects. I am a member at a country club in Lubbock and wish they held there course to this standard. Overall excellent. The only thing was that the golf carts were terrible. I've heard they are getting a new fleet though. Both of our groups got flat tires by the end of our round because that's how worn the carts are. Staff could definitely be more friendly. I would recommend to anyone that has standards in where they play golf. Good Stuff.
Well worth it
Fun course. Nice layout. Upgraded bunkering will be a tremendous improvement.
Make sure and play from the proper set of tees. The ball rolls forever on the dormant winter fairways.
An inland Pacific Dunes?
Simply put, this is no ordinary golf course and there's nothing like it in Texas. Everything about is interesting, which is remarkable, considering it used to be a flat cotton field. No two holes are alike, you can walk it and you can play a variety of shots. I just wish it was closer to me. I'd make a couple of trips a year to play it if it was.
Fantastic Course
This is not only the best course in West Texas, it is one of the best courses in the entire state. I live in Houston, and have played all over, this course is in the top 5 best courses I have ever played. And you can play it for less than $50? Deals like this don't exist anywhere else!
For the course....wow. Extremely challenging. Tight fairways, and as with all courses in Lubbock, you had better bring your wind game. Greens are undulating and true, but if the wind has been blowing and the greens firm up, you wont be stopping many long iron shots onto the green. Lots of elevation changes and lateral hazards to contend with. Absolutely fantastic test for all golfers, and you really won't believe that a gem like this exists until you play it. I wish I still lived in Lubbock, so I could play here more.
GOOD FOOD AND GREAT GOLF COURSE
WE PLAYED VERY FAST BUT PLAYED IN DECEMBER BUT ON A BEAUTIFUL DAY. I PLAYED THE TIPS AND ITS ALL THE GOLF COURSE YOU WANT, GENEROUS FAIRWAYS JUST PLAYS LONG. FOR LUBBOCK THERE IS A GOOD BIT OF ELEVATION CHANGE. OVERALL A GOOD EXPERIENCE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK.
Nice Fall Conditions
The Rawls was looking quite nice for this time of the year. Everything was in pretty good shape. The greens rolled nicely.
challenging and pristine course
This course is the best i have found around lubbock. It feels like you are in Canada. Quick greens and narrow fairways
Challenging and fun course ! Great value for the money
We had a great time and I was somewhat surprised to see 5 and 6 players in groups while there were only three of us and had to wait on several holes and did not see anyone enforcing this many in a group
