Challenging no matter what tees you play
This course was a lot of fun and very challenging from any tee box. The sand traps are deep, grass traps through out. Lost a couple of golf balls in there somewhere. No problem with the pace of play. The greens are fast, but they had more divot marks then normal. The course was a bear to play on this windy day, but still had fun trying to stay out of trouble. Made 2 birdies, so the course does reward the good shots. Just needed more good shots. =)
course is challenging.
true links challenge, especially w/ breezes to 18 mph. I didn't care for sand traps with dirt and rocks in them. Traps were large and challenging and also difficult to rake, adding extra time to fix. This course was maintained well except for the traps.
Highlight of Lubbock
Had a great father and son outing. Great start to college weekend. Rawls has had good rain to make the fairways and greens in excellent playing conditions. Hit your best shots and you'll be rewarded. So good I came back the next day and improved 2 strokes.
An excellent Links course, challenging enough from the white tees!
This course shows 7,300 yds from the championship tees on its website, so I was relieved to find that the white tees were only 6,400 yds. It seemed like I would eat this course for lunch with my driver...not so fast my friends. This course requires precision off the tee, and an accurate approach shot into some pretty small greens. There's not much water, but lots of sand and thick grass. My driver stayed in the bag most of the day. I guarantee you'll enjoy this course, especially at $25 a head.
Always a good course. Good golf test.
Fair but tough. Bring your A game. Can play long. Wind will affect your strategy. It seems like there are no flat lies. Undulating greens and well placed sand traps.
overall good experience
The course is great. We had a 210 tee time and finished at 720 due to slow play of one group in front of us There was at least 3 holes open in front of them. I was paired with a member. He called it in to Pro Shop. they said they would send someone out, but never did. We finally skipped a hole to get in front of them.
challenging but fair course
Play this course if you have a chance it is a very good test of your golfing skills especially when the wind is 20 mph plus.
The course is very challenging, and fun.
You have a great time, and the course is very well groomed. The people are nice and friendly.
Immaculate and challenging!
This is the best course in Lubbock, hands down. Normal prices are a bit high but golfnow can remedy that even still it is definitely worth it if you are visiting. I have played here on several occasions and am very impressed with how nice and welcoming the staff are. We are approaching the heat of the summer and the course is still in great shape. Be warned these greens are beautiful and extremely well kept but they are some of the most difficult greens I have ever played on.
Still the best in Lubbock
Played in 107 degree weather, but the course was still in superb shape. Thank goodness the cart girl drove by frequently. The wide open nature of the course is deceiving because the length of many holes makes it more difficult to reach greens when you hit it off line. Still the best course in Lubbock.
Great Links course in west texas
The course requires very good placement of your shots but isn't an extremly long course. Only the last 3 holes are pretty lengthy. 16 200 yd par 3 17 600 par 5 and 18 550 par 5. The only complaint would be that the sand traps which there are quite a few need to be maintained better. There is no sand it would be like hitting out of dried mud. Greens were quite challenging as well never had a straight put but had a good honest roll.
Need sand in bunkers
The bunkers are weary well placed but has weary little sand
Excellent course if you are up for a challenge.
Fun course but fairly pricey. If you don't mind the price the course is fantastic. Long if not very long and tons of hills. On half the greens a put will break in multiple directions. This is the best course in town to practice my game. I always have a few more strokes on this course but only because it is hard. It is always in better condition than any other public course in town.
Behind walkers and tournament
Always love this course and it was in great condition.
Best public course in Lubbock
The course is forgiving from the tees and there are a number of tee options. Fairways and rough are dormant now but should the area receive some rain those will be nice later in the spring and summer. The wind direction can change the course daily. Lot of variety on hole distances so you get to hit most of the clubs in your bag. Greens are the challenge to this course. A number of the greens have pin locations that are unfair, some have very few spots that seem friendly to most golfers. If the person putting out the pins pays attention, the day can be fair, fun and challenging but it can also be silly and frustrating. The bunkers contain dirt & rocks which is difficult to maintain and provide consistent play. Pace of play can slow on the weekends but this is the best public course option in Lubbock.
Best in Lubbock
Even in the dead of winter, the course is in superb condition. The fairways are in excellent shape, and the greens were rolling true and fast. Deals on Golf Now make this the best value around.
great course , great links style layout.
I've played this course about 150 times and always in great shape. Today we played, it's winter so the fairway grass is dead, but the greens are perfect . And the new club house!! WOW!!! .AWESOME!! As far as value, it could be about $20.00 cheaper and make up the difference in more rounds played
.
Course is one of a kind!
Exceptional in every single way. Course is beautiful and has tee boxes for every skill level. When the West Texas winds kick up it can be rather difficult, but other than that it is playable. Greens have many slopes that make putting difficult (and chipping) but it is true to the links style course. Overall rating: A.
Course is in excellent shape.
Greens were slick, rough was rough and the fairways were immaculate.
Great course
I will play again when ever I have the time to travel to Lubbock Tx. Nice Golf Course.
