Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course

Had a very nice day. The course is challenging especially the back nine.

Had a tee time for 2:04. Started said they were running 20-30 minutes behind schedule. Had to wait on every single hole. Front 9 took 3:00. Thankfully a lot of people couldn’t handle the pace and left before the back 9, so the course opened up a bit, but it still took 2:30 to get around. 5:30 round is ridiculous.

The course was running great. Greens were in good shape (solid 6.5/10) and we’re running fairly smooth. Wind played a huge factor and made the round extremely challenging.

Overall, a great layout and a fun and challenging course, but I don’t want to come back if it’s going to take 5:30 to get a round in.

Great course across the board. The location and layout made me think that I was playing in Europe. The high grass, bunkers, whirling winds off of the water, truly a great experience.

Good course layout, makes you play a variety of lies. A bit of onshore wind adds fun to the game. Many of the holes are pretty as well.

My buddy and I woke up extremely early to play a fast round by teeing off at 526am. When we got to #10, we waited on every shot for the rest of the round and took more than 2x the time to play the back as it did the front.

This was because the course let out a bunch of back nine walkers which completely bogged down the whole back nine.

I suggest you better manage the amount of people you let off the back to ensure that your full 18 holes customers experience the steady pace of play throughout the round as this is what you would expect being the first group off at 526am!

Better than anticipated. Greens were fast, well maintained. Definitely will play again. Great price for the course!

The Elements dictate the difficulty level on any given day at Monarch Bay. There is an abundance of Wildlife and some stunning views weather permitting. Accuracy of the tee is rewarded and the greens are protected well by bunkers. I always enjoy playing the course when I can find an affordable Tee Time.

With the rough areas as tall as they are, you need Marshall’s to keep the pace of play. Group in front constantly looking in deep rough for ball. Slowed it to a crawl.

Fairways are in great shape. Tee boxes getting re-sodded so distance on holes much easier.

The course was in good shape but I booked the tee time on GolfNow. And had no idea they just aireated the greens in the beginning of the week but they weren’t that bad and they gave us additional $5.00 off Wichita’s nice.

Got to the course the. Was told of Aeration. “We tried to tell golfnow”. Even though every other course seems to be able to figure it out. A clear con job. Pace was awful. Got hit into three times while waiting for green to clear from 150 out. Awful place and getting worse.

Found a great single person early tee time and was able to go ahead as the first player of the first 2 groups which was slow (argh) Friday’s is very busy and slow with a lot of senior players. They need a Marshall to police speed of play.

While it had rained the course obviously has very poor drainage and fairways were quagmires. The bunkers on several holes were full of water, at least they plan on fixing that problem soon. The wicked grass that lines many holes punishes even slightly errant shots.
